WOSgrad Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 I know in the spring there was a lot about Coach Barbay leaving Coldspring and headed to Newton. However, I have not seen media reports to indicate that this is the case. Also, when I checked the CS-O CISD website and the athletic director position was no longer on the job postings. Which begs the question, did Coach Barbay actually leave and the position has been filled, or did he have a change of heart and will, at least for this year, stay on as AD/HC at Coldspring? Quote
Pepper Brooks Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Mark Byrd from Houston Westside was named new HC. A complete turnover on the coaching staff. From my understanding almost or everybody is gone from Barbays's staff. Quote

Texasminuteman Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Until Barbay officially resigns he's still HC. He's got until July to do so. Byrd has big shoes to fill. I give him 2 years. The people in Coldspring may not be as generous as me. Good luck to Barbay. Quote

TROJANSWIN Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 He was wearing green, but Newton is purple. First time in many years he showed up to work in anything but red or black. His two boys had transferred to Newton to finish out the school year. Unless something changes over the summer, he will be in Newton next year. Quote

Texasminuteman Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Great, what is "Newton green"?Old school saying. When one is nervous he is said to be green. I know if I had to switch employers I would be considered green. Pun intended Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Guest Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 Got it. So you are saying Barbay is "nervous" about coaching in Newton. If I am not mistaken his dad coached there for a year or two. I think Barbay may have some familiarity with the school. Is that your understanding? Quote

He's not going there to be the HC and this is a little different from being the man in charge of everything to being an assistant. Ive been to the mountain top and have had to step down. Its not easy. I asked myself can I do this and how long can I do this? I think anyone would be a little nervous. Just my opinion. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
