dBerrySports Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Kat Padgett has 2 goals, Raegan Padgett has one, Sydney Flowers has a hat trick and Kenedy Padgett scored while I was typing this. H-J 7, Brazosport 0 Quote
bullets13 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 What a performance! I wasn't expecting anything like this. While HJ is obviously playing lights out, Brazosports must have had a cakewalk in the playoffs to this point. Quote
bullets13 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 7-0 Final. HJ doing the right thing in the second half. Quote
bullets13 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 I can't get over an HJ soccer team going to a regional finals game. Finally having a playoff bracket for our classification is a HUGE deal. I played on two VERY good HJ teams back in 98 and 99 and we had to face PNG one year and Nederland the next in the first round of playoffs after finishing 2nd in the district to Lumberton both years. Bear in mind, this is back when those programs were sending teams to state. Had we been able to compete against schools our size, we might have been able to make a deep run ourselves. I'm super excited that these HJ kids finally get a chance to compete on a fair playing field. Quote
Let’sGetAlong Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Keep in mind that it is very impressive what Jasper and Hardin-Jefferson has done this year...but...many 4A schools have very young soccer programs...less than 3 or 4 years. Numerous programs did not start until this year because the classification did not have their own classification. Our area teams that have been playing up a classification for 10 years or so have been able to build a program and play tougher competition. I believe Jasper and HJ were two of the best teams in our area despite the classification but it helped that they have these very talented teams while many schools are starting a program. Quote
bullets13 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 It's still the same struggle for most of the smaller programs: fielding 11 kids who play year round. Both programs are currently blessed to be able to, but both have not always been able to in the past, and likely won't always in the future. Hopefully both teams' programs grow in part due to the success they've had this year. Quote
CoachV Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 Game is at A&M consolidated stadium in college station. Game has been moved up to 12 due to weather. Quote
