When ranking teams from across the state, many with few or no common opponents to look at, I'm sure he factors in the three losses. Is newton better than 6-2 idalou, or 6-1 arp, or 8-0 coleman for that matter? Perhaps, but I'm not sure how you would compare them when ranking over such a broad spectrum. It's a lot easier for them to do so in our local polls because the voters have a lot of information on common opponents, strength of schedule, possibly have actually seen the team play, etc.

Rankings are ok but the good thing about Texas is you can prove everyone wrong like Farmersville did a few years ago. One of the girl named schools (Mildred or Melissa) also won state without ever being ranked. The boys and coaches get to earn everything for themselves without voting having anything to do with it.             as Nike says " Just Do It"

The polls are terrible , they should get better as Season goes along but they seem not to .

Cracks me up that Coldspring is the highest ranked team in all of SETexas on old coach, but barely makes the polls in all of the others. Somebody is very wrong! I guess we will see who!

One thing you can take to the bank.  The AP poll is generally wrong.

If you are ranked #1 and loss in the first round, that ranking doesn't mean a thing.
