1. AggieAreWE I bet you don't get to watch many 1A games do you?  Sometimes they are ugly, but they are always fun to watch.
2. I agree with everything you stated in your post.  There is no regret in making a decision to not put kids in harms way.  High Island went through a similliar situation three years ago.  My son was a Sophomore and we had to forfeit that last game of the year against West Hardin.  Yes the decision was tough to make, but at the same time it was the easiest decision to make.  When your key players or skill position players get injuried, you can not in good conscience expect kids to go onto the field of battle and expect the young men to perform well against a team that is two times bigger, especially when your QB and the two back up QBs are out.  IT would not be good practice for either team. This is were the Enterprise story should be.  Small schools and their ability to pursue the opportunities to give their children a good quality education and to make them productive individuals in society.
3.
High Island will need to bring it big time.  Anything is possible.  No team in this district is unbeatable.  Come on HI show em what you got.  Take down the mighty Bulldogs.   Gonna be a great battle, hope it's without any injuries.
As a fellow graduate of 88, I have to agree with you.  I hope the Cardinals bring a big ole bag of butt whoopin up to Colmesneil.  It would be a true fright night if the Cardinals could pull of the upset.  I am sure Coach Davis, Crews and the rest of the staff have discussed this with their players all week.  It will take some grit, determination and pride for the Fighting Cardinals.  You can do this Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck tonight!                        Go CARDINALS!!! PS:  The Rebels will be there to watch the Cardinal attack and should be able to capitalize on it next week.
4.
And for our High Island friends, when you see the inexcusable comments by know-nothing critics of high school kids (read the Beaumont Enterprise) just know that it doesn't come from anyone who knows either team.  Why slam kids???   What a blessing to know that both sides gathered for prayer on that field that night.  That just does not reflect a group of boys out to hurt others. Thanks to all who have prayed for our kids and our community.  May God bless you in all you do!   Yellowjacket Mom
Its the Enterprise, they finally found some sort of a story about the little schools.  It is just to bad that they don't do a story about the small schools and what it takes for these young men to commit to something that means so much to football fans across Texas. 5.

I think that both teams are trash and I would rather watch paint dry.  However, I think that High Island will win this one but I could really care less. HI wins 28-21 in a snoozefest.
Strange that no one from High Island evers says bad things about EC.  In fact I've seen HI kids go and support your BUCS
And I attended and supported H-I vs. BH sophs. Anyone familiar with my posts through the years know I fully support H-I always!
And we appreciate that support.  Guess some people just have nothing better to do than be idiotic on here.  Any yes, you are right mutual respect for your guys and our guys.  Good luck tomorrow night.
We appreciate your support ECBucFan.  I don't know who BUC4Life#1 is, but I will call him "Richard Cranium".  You don't have to like HI, its team or town.  One thing you should know is your AD is a product of the High Island football team.  Good Luck Bucs with the reast of District and the play offs.
6. 15-0 Final Evadale Congrats to Coach Williams and the Rebels.
7. You are correct grad88, Evadale fans should be proud & enjoy every minute of it.
8. The Cardinals are always underestimated! And you are so right. Let all of them come out to play and not worry about High Island or think they are no competition. The Cardinals will continue to surprise people and maybe, just maybe, earn a little respect from these posters!!! GO CARDINALS!!! ;D Conside this poster someone with great respect for the HI Cards. I have stated many times that there is plenty of tough stock in the players from HI and I will add SP. I love my Rebels and of course I believe that they will win tomorrow night. But every team better come out ready to play against every team in 23A. Some have posted on SETX calling this the weakest 1A district in the state. I don't think so and here is my reasoning. District 23A has great kids. Girls and guys, so I take offense when people call our district weak. I am sure we will hear it next year about both the districts that emerge once we divide into D1 and D2. Well you know what I will stack our schools, teams, coaches and kids against any other 1A in the state. We not knot come out on top but they will know they have been in a fight. Let me write it for all to read. I think the kids in Burkeville, Colmesneil, Chester, High Island, Hull-Daisetta, Sabine Pass, West Hardin and Evadale are great athletes, students and most importantly young men and women that we all can be proud of. I wish the Cards well even though I don't wish them a victory against us. Rebelyeller, you are very correct in your assessment of the student/student athletes of District 23A. This District, like most small districts (3A and Under) in the state watch these kids grow up on the playing fields and courts from JR High through High School. Every parent and some of the posters on SETXsports know the respectable players from the opposing teams. When I say respectable players I am not saying that some are not respectable, but that you see certain kids that hold themselves tall, with good poise and always show good sportsmanship on and off the field. This can be attributed to the small town atmosphere and or family atmosphere that a small district can still afford to give their community. The Teachers and Coaches that become a part of the lives of the students and push each one to be their very best will always be remembered by these young men and women. The ones that do not strive to make each student better are remembered as well. :'( District 23A athletics has been competitive for many years and will continue to do so. Cycles, it is the one thing that keeps going. Just as the seasons change, so do communities and school districts. Yes, it is fun to post and boast about your team on this board, but reading the last few posts on this thread shows the real camaraderie of This District. I have personally loved, hated, respected and in due time loved again each school in our District. I have talked to each coach in the Football, Basketball and Baseball teams over the past years and I tip my hat to each one of you guys. I truly feel that each one of these men and women are doing there part to make the Students productive people in society. I have enjoyed your penmanship Rebelyeller and look forward to your updates. Good Luck all teams Friday night. Go Cardinals.
9. West Hardin should win this game. Yes the Sharks will put up a good fight, but I understand they had a few injuries Friday night. Good Luck!!!!
10. The weather could play a big factor, hopefully the field drains well, you don't want the sharks to swim around in knee deep water. Good Luck tonight!
11. Cheer on the Cardinals for me, I will be trying to keep up with the score on here tonight. I have an informant who will be giving me updates. Ball Control!!!! If you can run against them, then run it. Tell Max, James , Roger and the rest of the TEAM that I am channeling all of my energy towards them tonight. Good Luck!!!!! GO CARDINALS!!!
12. Won't be making the trip, headed to Walker, LA to watch my daughter cheer at her Homecoming game. Good Luck against Sabine Pass tonight.
13. How are you ole friend? You said it, the fans will surely get a show. I just wish I could be there to watch!
14. The Cardinals will have to take!!!! I doubt the Oilers will give it to them. Should be an exciting game. Wish I could be there!!! :'(
15. Will do Joharr I have watched some film on the Mustangs and they are MUCH better than last year! I know they have played hard against WH and HI. They can be trouble, but I just don't see the Rebels being lulled to sleep after the Mustangs last two weeks. I can say I'm glad that we did not open against them. I see this one being another test for the Rebels. Tests I might say they have passed 5 times already this season. The Rebels are getting everyones "A" game and this one will be no different. With all that said I see the Rebels coming out on top of this one. Rebels 21 or more Mustangs 7 or less I agree with you yeller, Evadale should ne able to hold the Mustangs. As much as I hate to say it, it was good to see Harper back on the sidelines. ;) Thanks for the updates...
16. Should be a good game between the Cardinals and the Oilers. The Cardinals showed plenty of fight against the Mustangs to come from behind and win the game in OT. The Oilers coming off an emotional loss will be ready to take advantage of any Cardinal mistake. The Cardinals are a little banged up, but should be ready to go. Joharr73, I quit making predictions a long time ago. Good luck to the Oilers. Cardinals, prepare your minds and bodies for the challenge that lay before you this week. The only thing that you can control is yourself. Should be a good game. GO CARDINALS!!!
17. Won't have time to get up to Evadale. just enough time to get to Beaumont to pick up a car for Kaylee to ride in the parade tomorrow in Winnie then get back to HI for the game.
18. You will get plenty of positive KARMA points for that one.
19. Glad to see the Cardinals fired up, but lets have a reality check. The game starts at 7:30 Friday evening. You have about 26 hours to prepare yourselves for a very intense game. Coach Harper will sniff out every opportunity to capitalize any Cardinal mistake. Lets forget about winning by 3 or more touch downs and work on ball control and execution. 4 Qtrs men and then it l be a page in history & n the record books. The final score only matters when your team in on top. Seniors the time is now. I will be there watching and enjoying what should be a very good game. Go CARDINALS!!!!
