  1. My opinion doesn't mean much.

What I saw was that H-D was the much bigger team, but didnt have an identity on offense.

Sabine Pass won the 1st 3 quarters then were pretty tired by the 4th qtr and H-D defense capitalized on 2 turnovers.

Don't think it had anything to do with the refs. H-D was lucky to come away with a W.

I have to agree, Offense has one play. Doesn't matter how they line-up in formation, for the 3 and half quarters they ran the same play. Sharks D looked like they were in a goal line the whole night stacking the A gap. The wonderful play calling by HD had the lone set back regardless of who was back there run it to the right side in the A and B gap. There's no denying HD is very young and will be outmatched in district play but the facts still remain that its up to Coaching to get the very best from there rooster. Does that mean HD will end the season with a winning record, of course not. It does mean they (Coaching Staff) should still be held to a realistic standard.  Everyone at HD including it's biggest fan HD 55 is well aware of the very long season ahead, but poor Coaching decisions does not help.

  2. Hardin is not down this year. A minimum of two games better than last year's season.

Down in numbers, yes. But, that's what happens every time discipline is reinserted to a program.

I agree with you completely, but also stand by the point that only kids playing count and Hardin has a younger team then in the past. They do have some talented young guns coming up but they are not at their full talent or potential level yet. So they are down from last year. Everyone in the area knows Hardin has had some issues with discipline from their boys in the past. How many times last year did we see player undress during the game and leave a trial of equipment behind them. Can you honestly say Hardin got the best performance they could have gotten from their rooster last, I think not. I have many kinfolks playing in Hornet land and hope they as a team and a community accept the change in discipline the coaches are trying to enforce and get back to being a team others don't take for granted as an easy win. I still say Hornets take this by 3.. Let's go Hornets attack that QB and start off with a W

  3. :D

A new set of 4 horsemen in HD...lol

How oringinal.. I wouldn't go quite that far, and pretty sure no one has boasted they were the best in the state or the best in their district. Also pretty sure no one has made any bold predictiions other that a .500 season So Yawn... Boring . So please Mr. Buddy and Workbootz try and come up with something fresher, the whole Horesman thing is exciting as HD's playoff record..

  4. Maughan Vs Fregia Head to Head:

Running Goes to Maughan hands down.

Passing both guys have pretty decent arms, Fregia at this point in time is a little more accurate on the quicker and shorter routes.

Historically HD has never been a passing team. Will that change this season, who knows for sure. I do know for them to be competitive they have to bring that percentage up. The other part of passing is catching. Since HD has always been ground and pound never been a reason to spend much time developing Throwers or Catchers.

  5. If we don't pass at least 25% of the time, it is a no brainer to start Brandon Maughan at QB. Kid is a grinder and tough as nails. Maughan with Robinett at RB would be nasty on the ground. Gator, I think them soon to be Sophomore big lineman, are gonna surprise you next season. One I know for sure... ;)

I hope so.. Younger Linemen will def. get some much needed playing time that they missed out on last, due to no JV.

  6. My kids didn't go to HD. Thanks for your concern tho.

In all seriousness tho...it's probably not gonna matter who plays QB for Stan Hodges. Most likely gonna toss it or hand it to someone else.

Well not real impressed with Coach Hodges as of yet. I will say he has stepped up the conditioning and weight room workouts. So for that he does get a gold star. I know he was hindered with Coach Huck last year, so that explains the O, but still haven't seen a D in HD in forever.HD needs another year for those bigger upcoming linemen to get some experience.

And Ohh.. my bad is was WH they played for right?

  7. Gotten so far off topic again.. I guess it would be appropriate to say.. oh yea well my shoe size is bigger than yours.. No one cares if you did or if you didn't play college ball. Pretty sure either way you won't be the starting QB for HD next year.

Oldschool2, i know you're still upset that your son didn't get more recognition when he played at HD, but please get over it so we can just move on.

With that you can go back and look, i did predict a 500 or below season for last year and will stick to about the same for this year. Maybe 1 or 2 games better this year.  Not sure Fraun is worth discussing, as he has not committed to even playing next year. Its going to come down to Maughn and  Fregia.. I still say in a head to head battle Maughn wins out for 2015..Just my opinion. 2016 I'll take Fregia over Maughn

  8. You need a coach that can make a kid that runs a 5.0 40 run a 4.5 40. He will also need to be able to put together a HD type schedule which will guarantee wins.

What a joke of a statement. No one cares about Pre-season Schedule and wins. The only thing that matters is district and beyond play. Regardless of the crap you normally post, Hardin was before and still are slotted in a tough district. Let me rephrase that, Its not that the District it's self was tough, but 1 or 2 pretty good power houses. I do believe Hardin has a lot of potential. They just need the right guy to get the program where it should be. Am i saying all of the sudden Hardin has the Kids to start winning state title after state title, no what i am saying is the right Guy can make the talent they have threating and other teams would say dang its going to be a fight to get this win.

  9. Bobcat Pride was hoping some one would say Bryce Fregia, so since they didn't i guess i will. Taking nothing away from Fregia he didn't have any opportunity last year to improve (due to no JV team) So not sure he would be the clear choice. Maughan did do very well as JV QB year before last as a Freshman. Just can't see where Fregia coming from 8th grade (last time playing QB) to Starting QB as a Soph. would out perform Maughan with a little more experience as a Junior. Maughan hands down is a better player. Was informed HD would be running a different offense this year, more of a spread type Offense. Robinett will without a doubt be the featured back. If the type of offense calls for a two back set then possibly Maughan would take spot and could allow Fregia to call the snaps. Regardless of who plays where. I have the same prediction from last year, another 500 or below season. Simple fact of lineman issues. 2016 season should be best chance for HD to return to their normal winning tradition of one and down.

  10. Always amazed how fast it goes from the main topic to HD fans. So not sure if going back to topic matters anymore, but hated to see Robinett go down for a freshman he is a difference maker. I feel he will be missed most this week on the D side of things. So hopefully get a good report. I believe the score will be much higher I would say in the 50 by each team with WS by a touchdown. Of course I hope I'm way wrong and HD lights it up. Either way should be a great match up for both teams heading into district play
