1. Just now able to post my observations on the game yesterday. You guys have one heck of a football team over there. Big and strong kids. Gave us all we wanted. We needed a game like that after the BWood game. So many turnovers on your side and all those dang penalties on us and still went down to the wire. The Bulldog secondary pretty much put the clamps on our passing game and Coach Roark adjusted some after the half and pounded the rock just enough to get some scores and pull it out. Hats off to the Nederland HC to go for the win after closing 32-31 instead of the tie. Our defense made the big play there. And what about that rain! That stuff was coming down sideways. :o Glad it slowed up some to play the second half. Anyways good luck the rest of the year and hope to see the Dogs in the playoffs. Also hope the injured players get healthy. We had our best DB, which is also our fastest kid, get injured and only played the first half. I think he has bruised ribs. He'll be sore the next couple of days , but he'll be fine. Was a very physical game.
 2.
Anyone have the weather report for tomorrow night?  Looks like rain is in the forecast.  What team does that benefit?
I like this forecast better.  ;) [Hidden Content]
 3.
Two more days and we'll know for sure. I can say personally tho, that after speaking with some of the players (and seeing them play every game last year and this year) that the Wildcats (and I) believe that they are already a much better team at this time than at any point during their last season playing both sides of the ball ... Time will tell.  :)
I believe that also. The way they manhandled BWood's dline was very impressive. Bwood's strength was their dline and linebackers and is supposed to lead them into earning a playoff spot in 24-5A. Plus they were huge. One tackle was 6'2, 340 and the other 6'2 285 with their mlb at 6'1 225. They were totally dominated. Some people would say they were overated, but I think the Cat offense and their line is just that good. I just hope they don't come in too overconfident because Nederland's dline is very strong and talented and may be better than BWood's. Also it may be a wet one Friday night with a 40% chance of rain.
 4.

Is it best to go 610 to 288? I'll be there. I don't get off until 5 though so save me a seat!!
Considering the Friday traffic patterns in that whole area, it's best to go by helicopter - but maybe that's out of the question. :)
You got that right!  ;D But I would suggest take 45 south to FM2004. Should be a little less congested than 288 through Pearland. But either way, you'll hit the traffic. As far as visitor parking, there is plenty of it. Don't worry about parking. And yes the visitor side is bigger than Friendswood, with more leg space.
 5.
The Dayton vs Livingston video is done... [Hidden Content] The highlight of the game is the second Jacarius Keener punt return [Hidden Content] happy viewing.... On Tuesday the Toups Graphics Power Rankings will be posted for the first time in 2012. I have some questions... 1.  Have they released the 2012 playoff pairing brackets yet? 2.  When do the enrollment numbers become official for division 1 and division 2? 3.  Will Angleton "probably" be division 1 or division 2?
About 90-95% sure that Angleton goes division 1, if they make it. :)
 6. I expect a great effort and tough play from the Nederland Bulldogs. This game might turn out to be like the hard hitting games we played against Dayton the past couple of years. This game might come down to turnovers and special teams play. Should get some media attention from the Houston area with 2 of the best 4A schools in the state going at it.
 7. The visitor seating capacity is 3200. Home side is about 5000-5500. Kind of like the Pearland stadium but a bit smaller. When they first built the stadium they realized that the visitor side was too small so they added 1000 more seats and had them installed and finished right before the opening game.
 8. Actually Brazoswood didn't give up 58 and 69 points. They won last week 29-0 against Westbury. Brazoswood is supposed to be a playoff contender in 24-5A, along with Clear Springs, Clear Brook Clrear Creek. I expect a great effort from the dogs of Nederland, but the Angleton offense looked terrific last night and they cleaned up alot of the mistakes they made at Montgomery. Kids looked in better shape also. I gotta go with the Cats of course with probably the same spread as the Montgomery game 28-17. Speaking of Montgomery, sounds like they played Dawson pretty tough on the road. They closed the gap some at the end, but Dawson just had a little more last night. Got alot of respect for the Bear head coach and the entire program. They are a solid football team.
 9. First off, man I feel for the Bears fans next year when they have to drive down to Angleton. Took me 2 and a half hours to get there through the Houston rush hour. >:( Seem like I would never get there. Now to the game. Montgomery gave Angleton all they could handle. Montgomery may be young at some positions, but were led by a good senior RB, a good senior WR on offense and a solid MLB on defense. The young kids will come along soon. When you get a program on the winning path, you really don't have "down" years and Montgomery seems to be on that path. The Bears should make another run at the playoffs. Now for Angleton, they need to clean up the penalties. They have a TD called back and a couple of other big plays that were nullified. I'm sure Coach Roark will get that cleaned up. As far as the Dline goes, DE's Brown and Woodard were in the backfield all night causing havoc, but the 2 starting interior linemen are first year starters and it showed on numerous plays. Once they get some games under their belt, they should be fine. Plus they are both big boys at 275lbs and 285 lbs. Now IMO the main problem with Angleton now is conditioning. They are not in football shape yet. Too many kids with their hands on their knees and hips. That was the reason the had so many kids go down to cramps. I think not have that extra week of conditioning hurt them. That last drive Montgomery had before the end, the Angleton kids had nothing left. They were struggling just to get lined up. That's another thing Coach Roark will address I'm sure. But hey, we still got a win on the road, so all good.  ;)
 10. I really don't think it will be that big blowout you all have been predicting. Montgomery has been a pretty good program for a few years now and have a very good coach. Once you get a program on the winning path, the down years shouldn't be so bad. Plus it's a home game and we've never played at Bear Stadium. I believe it has natural grass turf right? Angleton hasn't played on many grass turfs in the past couple of years and may cause some problems, even though they did beat Friendswood pretty bad at Robertson stadium last season.
 11. The Angleton offense looked in midseason form last Friday scoring 7 times against a Sweeny defense that was supposed to be their strength this year. Wish we could have scrimmaged a 4A-5A school, but Sweeny is no slouch in 3A as they are always going 2-3 rounds deep in the playoffs almost every year. Defense gave up 3 big plays all night but other than that, they were a brick wall. Still I'm looking for a great game between these 2 schools and I will get my 1st chance to go to Bear stadium. Being a Angleton homer, I'll go 35-10 Angleton. :)
 12.
ATWILDCAT...someone did great on that wildcat website...I go Angleton by 3....
Yeah, actually the site was created last season. They'll add stats and pictures from each game and some videos of interviews from Coach Roark and a few players. Who ever runs it does a great job.
 13. This is really early to predict. Angleton plays 2 tough opponents before the Nederland game and could be a little banged up by then. It could go either way just like the Angleton/Dayton series went the past 2 years. Angleton was able to jump out on opponents early in games last year and if they can do that against the Dogs, I'll go with them of course being a homer. Angleton 24, Nederand 14.  ;D [Hidden Content]
 14. WOSgrad, this may be a stretch, but is there any way you could do a preview of Angleton? i know they are not a SE Texas school, but noticed that you did GBall, Sante Fe and Friendswood. Plus Angleton has played Dayton the past 2 years and will now play Nederland the next 2, so I was just wondering. You did a heck of a job with the ones you've done so far.
 15. Just reminding everyone. They ship out today but may not be on the shelves yet, unless you get lucky and find one.
 16. I saw this on another site. 4a 1. Denton Guyer 2. Cedar Park 3. Tyler John Tyler 4. Highland Park 5. Pearland Dawson 6. Leander 7. Wichita Falls Rider 8. Aledo 9. C.C. Calallen 10. Angleton
 17. Great post. It's been 20 years since I finished school and I still get excited every year when high school football begins. I now get to know the kids that play now at Angleton from their parents who I went to school with. Love the atmosphere that a Texas high school football game brings and now that my little 9 your old nephew loves to watch the Wildcats play, I take him to all the games, home and away, and look foward each week to getting a box a popcorn, a soda and sitting in the stands with him cheering for our school to win. Can't wait for this season to begin!
 18. When Coach Roark took over last year at Angleton one of the 1st rules while playing athletics in Angleton was that you couldn't have no facial hair and no crazy hair cuts. I thought he would upset some people around there, but all the kids responded well to it, for what I know. Kids look like kids and not like they are 25 years old. They'll have plenty of time to grow whatever they want after high school.
 19.
nederland-angleton should be a good one. too bad it will be in angleton...
Yes that should be a good test for both teams heading into district. After watching Angleton's spring game last week, they look to be as good, if not better than last year's team. More size, much more depth and still with speed at the skilled positions.
 20.

Angleton had too many turnovers. Angleton RB Richard Cooper went down with an ankle injury in the 2nd quarter and was lost for the game. That was a big loss for Angleton. Up to that point, he had rushed for 116 yards on 10 carries. Angleton left 11 points off the board which was the difference. In the 1st, Cooper broke out in the open field for an apparent touchdown only to trip on the turf and later had to settle for 3 and then on the next drive fumbled on the 2. That turned out to hurt the Cats. Dawson has a heck of a team though and they made the least mistakes to get the win.
ATWILDCAT- Do you think Dawson has what it takes to stop LT? From what I have heard is that Cedar park manned up against LT, do you think Dawson can do the same?
I don't know if Angleton or Dawson could beat LT. I just want Dawson to make LT work for the victory and not be a blowout. Dawson has the ability, but can they execute they way LT does will be the question. Dawson, make LT earn they're way too the finals.

 22.
Nah... LOL!  They are building so many homes out here it's ridiculous!
They need to start building more houses on the south side of FM1462 so Angleton can get some more of that growth.  ;D
 23. I think if the game is close or tied at half, I have the confidence that Coach Rourk can make the adjustments to pull it out in the 2nd half. If the kids can execute the adjustments, I see them winning. It will be tough, but Angleton has the ability to do it.
