1. I've never seen as opposing coach address a team like that. We are very proud and lucky to have a coach like Coach Rourk. This is his first year at Angleton after spending 6 years at Needville and I remember him saying at the board meeting when hired that he was going to continue the winning tradition and take it a step further and he has certainly has. He has put together a great coaching staff and not only is he top notch coach but as you see in the video and heck of an person. That was very cool and that's what Texas high school football should be about.
 2. Speaking of Quandre Diggs, he was on the Angleton sideline tonight wearing his Angleton jacket cheeering on his former teammates after his huge game he had Thursday night over the Aggies.
 3.
Great season Pirate's, we're all very proud of you. Congrats Angleton on a good win and a hard fought game...and yes we were clapping for both teams. No. 15 from Angleton showed us why hes a D1 commit. Also a player from Angleton, after the game and shaking hands with our players, shouted "Great game Vidor. We love you." I thought that showed class and respect.
Actually, #8 Ryan Jackson is the D1 recruit going to UH next year. #15 is Richard Cooper and he is just a junior. When teams have keyed on Jackson, Cooper has came up with some big games and tonight was another one. As far as the Angleton kid, great sportsmanship from him after the game.

Angleton has never been a dirty team. They play hard and if you hit them in the mouth, they just hit back. There was only 2 PF called tonight, so I thought it was just a hard hitting game by both teams. If you want to say that Angleton is dirty because they just wipped Vidor's tail tonight, then I would think Vidor fans wouldn't have liked it if Vidor would have won and I came on here saying they were a dirty team. Hey, it was just kids going at it for 48 minutes and Angleton just made more plays to advance. I said that if it was a scoring fest that Angleton would win. But anyways great season by Vidor. You all have great fan support over there. :D
That guy that made the comment is not from Vidor so dont let others leave a bad taste in your mouth about us. You were clearly the better team and proved it. And I am going to keep saying this "SOMEBODY PLEASE BEAT LAKE TRAVIS!"
Beating Lake Travis will be a hell of a feat. They are a machine. But first things first and try to win the region next week. Dawson and Nederland are 2 great programs. Personally, I wouldn't mind playing Dawson, just because they are in Brazoria county and I want a rematch from last years butt wipping they gave us in bidistrict, but Nederland would be a heck of a matchup also.

 6.
Tough loss Vidor but nothing to hang your heads about. First time I seen you play and you have a very discpline team and well Coach. You guys have a huge heart and never gave up. Angleton? You may have won but hope you get beat down next week bc very dirty team.
Very dirty?? The Vidor kickoff returner on Angleton's side kept jawing over at the Angleton players everytime he was back there, which was quite alot. Finally one the Angleton coaches had to stand there to make sure nothing was said back from the Angleton kids. I didn't come here to talk trash because I never do, but this game was just a typical Angleton game. Angleton coaches make great adjustments after the half time and you saw it again tonight. Angleton defense held the Vidor offense to 6 points in the second half and score 39 themselves. Great effort by the Pirates though and now hoping for a Dawson win tomarrow for an all Brazoria county regional final.
 7.
So , Angeltons' coaches hung a  flag up in Angelton to motivate their players ?
No, it was just a joke. Man, you Vidor fans act like you all have never been this deep in the playoffs before. Oh wait, you haven't.  ;D LOL
 8.
Just a tid bit of info on those saying turnovers will make the game. Vidor has yet to fumble the ball away in the post season. Angleton has fumbled 3 times and gave it away twice.
Well it looks like Vidor is due for a couple of fumbles this Friday. ;)
 9. Well Angleton runs the wing T also, so the coaches from both schools should know how to defend it. Angleton throwns more out of the wing T, but overall they should know the basic fundamentals of both offenses. Angleton is somewhat in the same boat as Vidor in that they weren't expected to do much this year. After losing in the area round in '08 and '09, they were knocked out in bidistrict by Dawson last year. And with losing alot of seniors and starting over with a new coach and new scemes, it was supposed to be a rebuilding year. After this year, as long as Coach Rourk is the coach, there shouldn't be anymore rebuilding years at Angleton. Vidor was expected to come next to last in their district and look what they have done. I just think a game like this with 2 good football teams, this game might come down to special teams play and who can make some big plays. Angleton has the edge in punt and kickoff returns, so that could be the difference. If Vidor runs that ball control offense then I don't see it being a high scoring game as that kind of offense kills the clock. IMO, If this game turns into a shootout, Angleton wins. Angleton thrives on a high pace game. If Vidor keeps it under 30, then they could be victorius.
 10.

I got Manvel winning this 38-24. I've seen both and although Dayton has a real good team, Manvel is just playing on another level. Manvel has the perfect combination of size, speed, depth and coaching to win it all. Dayton is playing lights out though, but I just think Manvel will be too much for the Broncos. Just my opinion.
This , my friend, is a good educated post. It does not bother me when posters that know what they are talking about picks the other team to win, but when you have these predictions from guys with an IQ lower than their playoff win total, it tends to bother me. (not really) I know Man is the best team we will have played all year, but I also know that dayton plays up to their opponent. That could explain the loss to BH, if you know what I mean.
I for one was pulling for Dayton all year. The Broncos played Angleton 2 good games these past 2 years and both could have gone either way. Sat with a few Dayton fans this past year when they played Angleton and they were very respectful of Angleton and very passionate for their Bronco team. No trash talking was going on between the kids from both schools, as far as I know. They just played good football. As far as the game with Manvel, it's going to be tough for the Broncos, but anything can happen. A turnover here and there and Dayton could go home with a victory. Manvel is just about a 15-20 drive up 288 from Angleton, so I was able to catch a few games and they are the real deal.  Dayton just needs to play the best they can and just see what happens after 48 minutes.

Angelton isnt all that .We almost beat them this year . I see Vidor going another round!
Sounds like you don't think to highly of your Dayton team. But Angleton isn't that good because they came from behind to beat Dayton, a team that is playing in the 3rd rd of the playoffs? Nope they aren't good at all.
That's exactly what I was thinking wildcat979. He pretty much said Dayton wasn't all that also. I think Dayton is a pretty good football team. Angleton brings Vidor's great season to an end this Friday 35-21.
 13. It's crazy that Angleton fans saying the team played it's worst game all season and the Cats put 65 points on the board. :o It was like the Cats were surprised that Wheatley punched back after going down 21-0. Coach Rourk mentioned that they lacked the killer instinct last night, but I just don't think the kids expected Wheatley to fight back. Good job by the Wheatley kids for not giving up. Angleton will need that killer instinct if they get a lead on Vidor next week.
 14. Easiest undefeated team to beat?? If your undefeated that means you are a darn good football team, unless it's an HISD school, no disrespect. Angleton has played in argurably the 2nd best 4A district in the Houston area behind 24-4A and 23-4A had a chance to sweep the great 24-4A 2 weeks ago. That says something about the competition Angleton has played. But in any case I know Vidor is going to bring it and Angleton has to play better next week to advance.
 15.
Ive seen Angleton play a few times & their athletic & fast.  With that being said they're probably the easiest undefeated team to beat IMO. Make'em pass and key the run.  GAME OVER.
I believe the same can be said about Vidor, but even more so. Angleton has thrown for about 1300 yards and 19 TD's so far to go along with their rushing attack. This may come down to who can make some big plays on special teams. I expect a hard hitting game from both teams, but of course being a homer I say Angleton wins 35-21.
 16.
Angleton barely beat us in preseason, I believe the final score was 35-27
Dayton was playing some good ball then and gave us a real scare.
 17. If Angleton gets past Friendswood ( Van Meter won't go down without a fight ) and Montgomery gets to the 3rd round, that Angleton/Montgomery matchup should be a real good one. On paper, whoever wins that should get a shot at Pearland Dawson for the regional finals. That's if there's no upsets.
 18.

Any team can beat any team on any given day/night.  Football playoffs are scary at all levels.  One bad game and you're done.
And one good game against a better team and you done! Brenham and Manvel. Two BIG teams up front that will give us he!!. Not sure about Lamarque without Wright. Angleton looks to be tuff at 10-0 with wins against Terry and Dayton, but they give up a lot of points (score alot too, with lots of weapons). Terry beat Lamarque in week 0 and there only loss was one point barn burner to Angleton.
Yeah and Angleton had Terry down big by 17 points in the first half and 14 points in the second until Terry made that dramatic comeback late in the 4th before Angleton pulled it out in OT. To put 50 points on that Terry squad was very impressive to watch. I think whoever plays Angleton from 24-4A will have a tough time beating them, thats including Manvel and Dawson.
 19. I think I aged about 5 years in the past 3 hours. WOW.
 20. Being a Wildcat fan I'm hoping for a 28-24 victory, but if i was a betting man I would go with Terry 34-24. Unless the defense plays better than they have the past 2 weeks, Angleton will need turnovers and big special teams plays to pull this one out, IMO. Should be a great game though.
 21.
It seems that our friends to the South have a better football team than they had last year.  They are 3 - 0 and are coming into this weeks game on a high note after beating Nederland.  On the other hand Dayton is coming in at 2 - 1 after a very good win over Aldine Eisenhower.  Our friends to the South obviously think that Dayton is not as strong as last year.  The truth is that Fort Bend Elkins, which is a solid 5A program, only loss is to Dayton.  The Broncos only loss is to Angleton, a ranked 4A and undefeated team, by only 8 points.  Finally they beat Eisenhower by 3 touchdowns and Eisenhower is not a bad 5A team.  My piont is that Dayton is stronger than last year and should do as well, if not better, than last year. Read into it what you want but I say Dayton is on a roll and it will not be easy to stop them.
From someone that has seen Dayton last year and this year, I believe Dayton is better this year. Last year we escaped with a 7 point win, but Dayton had a turnover issue in that one which definitely helped the Cats. This year Dayton seems to be protecting the ball much better and really had us on the ropes. They are a tough team to contain and should be that much better once they get that #1 Rb healthy. The Dayton defense was the only team to contain us so far, although it was just for 2 quarters, they were still solid. Don't know much about BH, but in anycase, know matter who wins this one Dayton is a lock for the playoffs and it sounds like BH has a great chance also. Good luck to both teams. In other 4A top games this coming week, Angleton is visiting El Campo and that should be a good one. Dayton knows a little about El Campo also and how tough they are.
 22.

Angleton scored 24 unanswered points with 17 in the 4th via 2 defensive td's and a fg. Great win and great start. Next up is El Campo.
Know all about that CONGRATS  and THANKS (for da wake up call)
Yeah a little deja vu from last week. Difference was Dayton had us down by 10 going into the 4th and Angleton was up by 14 this week. Elsik stayed competitive up until Ryan Jackson scored a 99 1/2 yard touchdown on a toss sweep when Elsik crashed 9 guys down the gut. Jackson just outran the other 2 guys. The wheels just fell off for Elsik after that.
 23. Purple, will you be posting the highlight video of the Dayton/Angleton game on your site soon? I'd like to see the 52 yarder that the Carranco kid nailed again. Also I've enjoyed watching the videos you put together of your team. You do a great job. I wish we had someone that would do that for us. There is alot of former players and Angleton alum that live too far to keep up with the football team and doing something like this would be a great way to be able to follow the team.
 24.
Kudos to the fans from Angelton/Dayton fri.night as they passed a firemans boot thru the crowds raising $600 for the people in Texas ravaged by the wildfire damages.Thought this was worthy to post on this site. With hundreds of HS games if just a few follow this example a lot of help will go directly to those in need 8) 8)
Great post. I heard the PA announcer mention the amount donated last night. During the excitment of watching a high school football game we have to remember there are families not to far from us that are homeless now and are of need of any help.
 25. Reguarding the onsides kick, Angleton's HC admitted in the local paper that it was not called, that the kicker shanked it and Angleton recovered for the lucky break. It looked like the Dayton return team didn't know what to do because no one charged to the ball. One of those breaks you get when the momentum is totally on your side I guess. The Dayton HC did a smart thing and tried to tell the ref that a fare catch was called, even though no signal was called and had the refs even huddle to make sure there wasn't. Good try by the Dayton coaches and they almost pulled it off. By the way, once that RB #1 gets healthy, he's going to be a load. He looked like he had a limp in his walk, but I guess when they were down early 14-0, coaches felt they needed to try and see he he could make some plays. Sure he wouldn't have played if the circumstances were different. # 15 Mcbride?, he showed some running ability also. He looked winded at the end though and took a big shot on one play and was real slow to get up, but he hung in there. This was game that both teams needed. Angleton needed to learn how to face adversity and come from behind after blowing out there first 2 opponents. They showed me they have that ability. Dayton has shown that for years, so that was a good come back victory against a team that has been there and done that.
