  1. Everyone is scared of Angleton? Really? I don't think any team we've faced was scared of us. Texas City gave it their best shot last night playing for their playoff lives and gave us a heck of a game. They didn't back down, but neither did the Angleton kids. Don't know what playoff bracket PNG would go to, but I would like to see a PNG/Angleton matchup. PNG is a storied program and would be a tough, physical contest. TC played you all pretty tough earlier this season, so I know this game, if it were to happen, would be a great game also.
  2. I wouldn't count Bport out just yet. They put a spanking on Manvel the other night. I believe FWood should get one of the playoff spots when it's all said and done. Dawson should get the other and Bport and Sante Fe may battle it out also. But still too early to tell how this will turn out. I would love to see Angleton get another shot at Central because of the way Angleton lost last year, but unless FWood and Dawson tank it, Angleton will go Div.2 if they make it.
  3. Friendswood has a solid team and we knew it would be a tough game, especially playing at their place. Friendswood has an excellent oline and did a good job most of the night picking up the blitzes Angleton was throwing at them. Their defense was getting pounded all night though, especially the dline and linebackers. I noticed that as the game went along, some of the Friendswood defenders were slowly getting up after each play and limped around. Angleton's oline was really coming off the ball aggressively and were driving back their big defensive linemen. Friendswood will be allright though and should make the playoffs. As far as a rematch with Central, that may not happen. If Angleton continues their winning ways and qualify for the playoffs, they may go Div.2 this time if Friendswood and Pearland Dawson make it. They have higher enrollments.
  4. We will be running shuttles for every game. If you get there an hour before game time - no issues parking in the stadium parking lot and the high school parking lots. [Hidden Content] I was thinking about getting there about 6:00 so I guess I should be alright. Thanks.
  5. With all the talk on here about 19 and 20 4A, your district is a BEAST! Angleton, LaMarque, Dawson, Friendswood, Texas City, and Manvel. Wow! Someone is going to miss the big Dance. Whoever survives the district games will be a strong contener in Region III. Yeah, this district is tough. We had the channel 2 Houston news game of the week last week against LaMarque and then Friendswood this week AND THEN we got Pearland Dawson to worry about next week at the Rig. Talk about a tough 3 week stretch! Hope to get out of this in one piece! Even the district predicted cellar dweller Sante Fe is undefeated and having a great year. This is ridiculous!!!
  6. I hope the woodshed isn't anywhere in sight!!! Although Angleton is heavily favored in this game, we have never played well at Henry Winston stadium. As a matter of fact, we have played terrible there. Hope to break the streak this Friday. The Angleton kids are pumped for this one and I read a story in the Houston newspaper that the Friendswood kids have had this game circled on their calender since last season's loss to the Cats. This should be great game, hopefully in the Cats favor!
  7. Do any of you have any suggestions on where to park and how bad the construction is at Friendswood high school? Angleton plays there this Friday and heard that parking could be difficult. I was hoping someone could tell me where the best place to park would be.
  8. I was a little surprised at the outcome of this game, but BWood is a big, physical team to deal with. Although Angleton rolled them last week 27-7, BWood should contend for a playoff berth.
  9. I'm not going to go to far and say it will be that big of a margin of victory, either way, but I think whoever wins will at least put 28 on the board.
  10. Central also has 3 losses, so they are in the same boat as Angleton. As far as Angleton overlooking Central, I know they aren't overlooking them, especially after that scare they got from Rosenberg Foster in the 1st round. Coach Vanover has coached in Beaumont before and knows those kids and how good Central, West Brook and Ozen teams are.(Even though Ozen has been down lately) He'll have those kids focused. I'm sure Lockhart's RB is good and it sounds like Central did a good job of shutting him down, but Angleton will present a different problem. They rotate 4 backs, not including the QB Quandre Diggs, and 3 of those kids were a part of the state champ 4X100 meter relay team, so those kids can go. If Central's defense can stop that rushing attack, then you all will get all the props from me because nobody has been able to all year. As far as that playoff game years ago, Central might have dominated Angleton all game, but Central didn't score not one time with all that offensive talent they had that year. Angleton's defense stepped it up that game.
  11. Fair enough. Both teams bring alot to the table and this may come down to turnovers and penalties. Angleton is peaking right now and it sounds like Central is too. Playing in a tough district like 24-4A with Friendswood, Texas City, LaMarque (they were somewhat down this year), up and comers Manvel and Pearland Dawson (keep an eye out for these 2 programs next year) really helped out the Cats so far and I know Central playing the likes of Nederland, PNG, Lumberton and Livingston helped out the Jags also. I'm looking forward to seeing this matchup.
  12. Yeah I think Friendswood does want a rematch against the team that gave them their only loss, plus they are a fellow 24-4A district school. I remember that game back in 1990 and Central did have alot of talent on that team, but Angleton's defense was lights out that year. That was an exciting game for Angleton, but a heartbreaker for Central. Now back to 2008 and I think this will be a great game. Athletically, Central should match up well with Angleton. All of their skilled position kids are very fast and athletic and even though they have scored 110 points in the past 2 games, they have done it without their best RB. He may be back this week though, which would be a big boost to Angleton's attack. Central may have faced good rushing teams this year, but I don't think they have faced the speed that Angleton will bring offensively and defensively. Angleton's defense isn't a lights out defense, but they aren't bad. They have real good athletes on that side of the ball. Central should have their hands full and if Angleton gets ahead early, it could be a long night for Central. In any case, I expect a great game by 2 good teams and for all you Central fans driving out to Galena Park, have a save trip to and from there. PS: Friendswood, be careful what you wish for.........
