1. Actually it's the Elsik Rams, not Knights. You got Elsik and Elkins confused. Elsik, although not the 5A Houston area power they once were, they still have lots of athletes and size and also have a huge enrollment advantage over Angleton. But that win over Dayton should be a huge confidence booster for the Cats and if that confidence is carried over, I'll say Angleton 28-21.
 2. I just don't see Coach Stewert and the Broncos going 0-3 in non-district. Yes, Ike has great size and athletes up and down their roster, but I think Dayton will eventually control their turnover problem and pulls out the win 28-21.
 3.
Should have the game video posted by tonight.
I would greatly appreciate it if you did post the video of this game. I wasn't able to make it last night, so I would like to see how all this went down.  ;)
 4. The score could have been worse, but it sounded like Angleton couldn't do anything with the ball which had alot to do with the tough Dayton defense. Angleton's coaches' must have seen a weakness in the defense and made adjustments at half, because they sounded like they were moving the ball at will that second half.
 5. Dayton did hurt themselves with turnovers that first half and I'm sure they were happy to be tied, but the Angleton offense stepped up their game and played ball control the second half and pretty much took over the game on the ground. They were on they're way to scoring another touchdown at the end, but they shut it down at about the 10 yard to take the win. Great win for the Cats.
 6. I can't make it to the game tonight and that sucks  >:( , so I'm hoping the fine folks on this board can keep me updated from time to time.
 7.

Dayton JV vs. Angleton JV. Dayton 40 - 8
Is this any indicator of tomorrow?
Maybe so, but as far as I can remember, Angleton has never had a really good JV team. A 5-5 record for an Angleton JV team would be considered a successful season. Freshman teams have had success, but since Vanover became head coach, he likes to move up some of the best freshman up to varsity which obvious hurts the freshman team. As far as tomarrow's game, if Dayton jumps on the Wildcats early, it could be over by the half. If the Cats can score first and get the momentum early, then they have a chance to get a win.
 8.
What time is this scrimmage?  Seems a little more intriguing than Dayton v Nederland, might roll out there with walter and donnie.
It starts at 5:00 today, but I believe that the subvarsity teams will go first and then the varsity will start around 6:30-7:00.
 9. I must admit, Angleton may be a little weaker this year. We lost a great trio of running backs, but Diggs is back and looks to be bigger but still has his speed. They have some talented backs that can run, but are untested and they are also trying to break in 3 new o-linemen. The defenseive front seven are real solid though, but the secondary is young and untested. Don't get me wrong though, I think they will be a very good team once the younger kids get settled. I expect them to play much better this week after a shaky first scrimmage last week. I would appreciate some updates on this scrimmage since I won't be able to make it out to Baytown this evening.
 10. Playing on Friendswood's home turf is real tough. They have had our number (Angleton) for a while at Henry Winston up until last year when we beat them by a good margin, but even then in that game, the Mustangs gave us a scare. On the other hand, we have had their number when we played them in Angleton the past few years when Karam was their QB. If they were playing at WOS, I think WOS could escape with a win, but I'll take Friendswood at home, especially if Angleton hangs a loss on them in week 0. They wouldn't want to go 0-2 to start the season.
 11.
The Angleton vs Dayton game should be a dan dan dandy!!!! That Angleton/Dayton game should be entertaining, but tough for the Wildcats playing @ Dayton. But that Angleton/Friendswood game in week 0 will be great game to start off the season for both teams. Then the Cats turn around and play the 5A regional finalist Brazoswood Buccaneers, so it's going to be a tough opening 3 weeks. Oh and then after playing Dayton, we'll have Alief Elsik next. Man, what a schedule!
 12. Well it seems like since Angleton and Brenham have tremendous skilled players on both sides of the ball, then this might also come down to who can control the line of scrimmage. Angleton's OL is very good with big kids pushing up front. I know everyone says if you key on Diggs, or key on Josey and slow them down, then you have a good chance of winning the game and every week they still score lots of points pounding the ball up the middle or sweeps and counters to either side. That is a testiment to the OL blocking up front. Now Angleton may meet up with a team that will force them to throw and it could be Brenham, but that remains to be seen. In any case, the line of scrimmage should be a battle to keep an eye out for in this game.
 13. No excuses here. Manvel played with a playoff spot on the line and Angleton alot of the time played like they we just wanting to get the game over with. It didn't help that Quandre Diggs twisted his ankle early in the game and pretty much limped around the rest of the night. Don't think it's that bad, but he need to stay in the training room all week to get it better before the Terry Rangers come to town. To sum it up, Manvel took it to us last night and with that win probably should have gotten that 4th playoff spot, but they had to do a coin toss after the game between Texas City, Sante Fe and Manvel. Sante Fe won the toss and will go on to face El Campo next week.
 14. Diggs, Josey and Foster play on defense, but get substituted throughout the game. Diggs pretty much stays on the field the whole time and doesn't like to take a breather. Josey starts at RB, but Franks, Foster and sometimes Butler get carries. The ball is pretty much spread around unless the Cats need a big play, which Diggs number is then called. There is always fresh legs in the backfield.
 15.

I will go out on a limb. I am calling an upset of Angleton by Manvel this Friday! That would actually be bad news for the Region, because it would make Angleton more focused, and stop any overconfidence from setting in.
Do you think Angleton plays this game all out... Or do you think they make sure that stable of studs is healthy?? It matters not in the seeding...
That's what I was wondering about. Coach Vanover might want to rest some starters since the only thing they could get out of this is a 10-0 record, which would be nice. They already had one of their starting linebackers go down with a season ending injury last week, so Vanover might be hesitant to play his starters the whole game. Plus Manvel REALLY needs this game to have a shot at te postseason.
 16.
Folks - we are talking about this year and this year only. All of your past trips to the semis and finals mean nada when you play Angleton this year Dayton/PNG. After playing Dayton and Angleton this year, I can tell you that there is a very good team heading your way Dayton and PNG. Buckle up. And Dayton folks - stop the finals and semifinals talk, the only teams that should talk like that are teams that have won a bunch of TITLES - like LaMarque and Katy. Ok - those are truly schools with great pasts, winning titles earns you that right - not going deep a couple times in the playoffs. And of course that applies to FW as well.
I hope we can back up your talk fw. Angleton should be the favorite, but anything can happen in the playoffs. I just hope we can live up to expectations. If not, these posters on here are going to let you have it! We still got Manvel to worry about this Friday and they are a heck of a challenge with lots of athletes on their team. But after that, it all starts on November 14 @ 2:00pm versus Rosenberg Terry at Wildcat Stadium.
 17.

I watched som game footage of Angleton and they are fast. They were playing Friendswood.
Is there any internet footage available?
Yes, on youtube there is a 10 minute video put together nicely by someone from Friendswood that put together most of the big plays and touchdowns scored by both teams. Just type in Friendswood football in the search box and it should be listed on there.
 18. Looks like Friendswood gets Lamar Consolidated in the 1st round.
 19. fwstangs, I don't know if Sante Fe just had a bad game, but they didn't look like a team that reeled off 6 straight wins, much less a playoff team. It looks like they still could sneak in because LaMarque screwed things up by losing to a team that still has a chance now in Manvel. But Angleton completely dominated the Indians. Angleton unloaded the bench players midway in the 3rd or it could have been 50-0. Sante Fe was the feel good story early in the season, but I think they wouldn't do well representing 24-4A. Just my opinion. Well I guess now PNG doesn't have to worry about the Cats now. Now they get to worry about FWood and Dawson.
 20.
In reference back to the topic of the thread.... Friendswood Fan... Does it look like Sante Fe will be the #2 seed in division II out of your district. In comparison to 20-4A and 24-4A... NO WAY do the Indians go undefeated through that district (and I am a PN-G alum). Just way too much talented teams in that district from top to bottom. The bottom teams in 24-4A are WAY better than 20-4A. Angleton is the top team in Region III, that being said, on any given night anybody can beat anybody.
Sad thing about Sante Fe is that after that 6-0 start, they are endangered of not making the playoffs at all. They play at Angleton tonight and then Pearland Dawson next week and Dawson may need to win that one if they lose to Texas City tonight. They really need to win at Angleton, but the cards are stacked against them. Angleton really wants this game to win the district outright and claim the #1 seed.
 21.
I don't think anybody is disrespecting PNG or Central let alone Angleton. A good healthy dose of opposing views makes for good conversation don't be so sensitive just because other people are as proud of their team as you are. Roll with the punches and you might have fun ! Smack talk is a prerequisite for this board !
Great post jayhawk. That's all this is about. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Angleton will have to step up their play another notch once the playoffs start or they could be knocked out early. That goes for all the teams that are privlidged to make the postseason. We'll have our hands full in the first round with the 23-4A teams. It should be either Rosenberg Terry or Foster and those 2 schools have played tough all year. As a matter of fact, Foster gave us a scare last year. Good luck to Central, PNG, Dayton and all the other teams that make the postseason. Hope to see you all in a few weeks!!!!!
 22. Really, I'm not trying to stir the pot here, but didn't PNG have to go to overtime on their home turf to beat a Texas City team that probably isn't going to make the playoffs? I mean, did PNG have a bad game that night? That was early in the season and I know PNG is probably better now and maybe Angleton isn't "that good". I just know this "one man team" thing about Angleton is far from the truth. Diggs is one of many game breakers that Angleton has on offense.
 23. Although Diggs is a very important part to Angleton's success, they are hardly a one man team offensively. Their RB, Henry Josey pretty much put the game on his shoulders against Bport and Texas City.  Also against FWood and Dawson the other runningbacks, Franks and Foster made big plays in those 2 games, along with their flanker Roderick Butler. Don't get me wrong Diggs makes that team go on both sides of the ball, but if you key on him too much, Josey and the other backs will burn you. Now I don't know about a 24 point fav. against PNG like FWoodfan stated because I haven't seen PNG play and they are 8-0 for a reason, but I know it could be a really good matchup, if it happens.
 24.

I know regarding Angleton, their division is not yet decided. Could know more after Friday Night who will be in the playoffs in alot of the Districts.
Absolutely.  If either Friendswood or Pearland Dawson slips out of the playoffs, that sends Angleton to Division I.
I think... The last game of the season La Marque plays Friendswood. That might be an elimination game if both win this week. If La Marque wins that game I think Friendswood is eliminated and Angleton would be division I
After this Friday, if Friendswood wins over a beat up Brazosport team and Dawson gets by a tough Texas City team on Dawson's home field, then Angleton will go Div. 2. no matter what happens in week 10 I believe. Next week could determine what team would be the forth team to qualify, but that's if FWood and Dawson win, which they probably should. If not then who knows what will happen.  ???
 25. I understand about the curiosity. Actually Diggs is the one being watched by UT. Angleton's RB Henry Josey gave his verbal to Missouri and he is actually faster than Diggs. Their backup RB Terrance Franks, who is probably the fastest of all the Cat runningbacks,  is getting some interest from UH and they have a tackle being recruited by numerous Div. 1 schools. But of course, Quandre Diggs is the glue to that team on both sides of the ball.
