1. Dayton fans, you have a heck of a football team over there. Not much depth, but the kids play hard. And that Carranco kid has a hell of a leg. He is a great weapon to have on your team. He'll be playing on Saturdays. Also your QB is quick like a cat and has a good arm on him. As for the game, you guys had us down real good and it looked bleak, but the Cats came through at the end. Great game to watch. Probably won't see each other the rest of the year, so good luck the rest of the way. I'm sure you all are going to make another deep run in the playoffs!
Not at night. 8) Sorry, I know what you mean but I couldn't resist. Lol
Good one, but yes it does. Shouldn't be to bad though. Temperatures in the mid to high 80's now and should drop a little more at night.
 3. Gotta admit guys, not feeling to good about tonight for Angleton. Sure, they've played real good these past 2 weeks against very good teams, but I've been expecting the kids to hit a snag learning the new offense and defense and it hasn't happen. Dayton may be the team to bring the Cats down to earth. Hoping I'm wrong, but things are going too good right now in Wildcatland. I think this game will come down to turnovers and Angleton hasn't had any yet this year. Can the Cats keep playing this good?  :-\
 4. All you Dayton fans going to the game tonight drive safely to and from Angleton and hope for a heck of a game, in Angleton's favor of course!  ;)
 5. Once you get to the beltway. exit 288 south and it's a straight shot about 20-30 minutes before the exit. They'll be a Ford and Nissan dealership on the left side where the FM523 exit is. You pass up 2 intersections on FM523 before you'll get to the stadium. Should be easy to get there. You can either park behind the visiting bleachers or there is plenty of parking next to the baseball field and it's a short walk up the sidewalk to the ticketbooth.
 6. Going down the beltway is the fastest way to go. Yeah, you'll pay a little at the tolls, but you won't have to deal with much traffic. You get to that FM523/ Hwy 35 exit on the right off of 288, drive over the overpass and after a couple of miles it will be on the right hand side. Can't miss it because the school is next to it and it is huge.

It's like the one they have on the Houston Chronicle.
I live in Rosharon... Is this game in Angleton?  That stadium about 20mins from the house.
If your son played at Dawson/Manvel, I'm sure you know where the stadium is at. Coach Wells at Dawson likes playing there during the playoffs and Manvel played LaMarque there last year. Dawson and Manvel are just down the road.
Yeah, been there several times... Last year our (Manvel) season ended there. Coach Wells love that stadium... He would play the state championship there if he could.  By the way you guys might meet up again down the line.
Don't remind me.  :(  Dawson handed our butts to us in bi-district last year and it looks like they have another strong team. Angleton is a different team now, so if we're fortunate to make the playoffs again and meet Dawson, so be it.  8)

Just curios.
Just think that Angleton has shown more so far in 2 games against tougher opponents than Dayton's one. I applaud Dayton's great comeback victory, but what got them down 28-7 midway through the 2nd before Elkins collapse/Dayton's adjustments? Angleton thoroughly dominated 2 very good, playoff contending teams, so maybe that's what they are going off of with the predictions.
I hope Angleton doesn't make the same mistake Elkins did and overestimate themself's and underestimate the Bronco's ! Really don't see Angleton dominating Dayton no matter how great the previous 2 teams you played were .
I don't see a blowout for either team. I expect a close game. High scoring, but close. I don't think Angleton will let up if they get a lead. Friendswood made a run there late in the 3rd, only to see Angleton run away in the 4th. Bwood scored a late 3rd quarter TD to close the gap 35-14, only to see Angleton score again in the 4th and then Angleton's back ups closed the game with a time killing drive to close it.

 11. I didn't expect Angleton to execute the offense this good in just 2 games. They put 41 points on a BWood defense that by all reports was supposed to be one of the better defenses in 24-5A, which has Pearland and Clear Springs in it. It could have been worse because they had one TD called back. I hope they can continue the success, but sometimes with early success you tend to hit a snag and take a step back. It that happens against Dayton, then so be it, but I think Dayton may have to play a near flawless defensive game to slow down Angleton. On a good note, weather should be excellent Friday night with temperatures in the mid to high 70's and clear. Almost "football weather"!!

 13.
This may be one of the best games of the weekend.  Get an early lead and force Angleton to throw.
That would have worked in previous years with Diggs at QB but this is a totally different team and offensive attack. New QB TJ Austin has thrown for about 250 yards with 4 Td's and no interceptions. He's on pace to throw for about 1,200 to 1,300 yards, which is a boatload of yards compared to past years. Their more balanced than before, so they'll be tougher to figure out on offense. Defense is what worries me a bit. They did play better against BWood. They gave up some yards between the 20's, but have stiffened up in the redzone, getting 4th down stops or causing turnovers. They did lose one of their LB's to a knee injury in the BWood game and I don't know if he'll play, so all-state LB Webster Jones is going to have to step up to help fill the void. I expect a close game with Angleton pulling away 28-21. ;D

 16.

Have not seen angleton this year but im sure they will have a lot of speed and be well coached. If our defense steps up like last week dont see why the broncos cant notch another victory. Hate bi weeks.
From my past experiences watching Angleton play "the well coached" part was no where in the equation.  They will definetely have speed and athleticism.  Things may have changed since the last time I seen Angleton play but the kids run this team.
Angleton has a new coach this year. Coach Rourk is now the AD/HC and he has been successful everywhere he has been. Last coached at Needville and the 5 years he was there, he didn't have a losing season and made the playoffs 4 of those 5. Before he got there, Needville won a total of 3 games in the previous 5 years. He is a west Texas guy and he already has those kids playing at a high level in just his 2nd game. Angleton beat a very good Brazoswood team last night 41-14 and as everyone knows beat Friendswood last week. It's a very different atmosphere in Wildcat land and the kids have responded. They don't rely on one kid as they did last year, even though Jackson is the main guy. They have spread the ball around and have shown a good passing attack with junior QB TJ Austin. I know Dayton will bring it, so I expect a great game come Friday night. Home opener for the Cats.
 17. Talked to a friend of mine that was there and he counted 10 tds for Angleton total to 1 for Lee. After Lee's 1st score he said they couldn't move the ball at all the rest of the scrimmage. Sounds like Lee is in for a rough year.
 18. Well from the beltway at 288 it takes about 30 minutes but with the traffic going into Pearland, probably 45-50 minutes. Probably best to take Business 288 into Angleton, which is the first Angleton exit you'll see off of 288 and drive all the way down to FM523 then take a left. Stadium will be on the right hand side about 2 miles down. I'm glad someone going. I believe you went to the Angleton /Lee scrimmage last year and gave a pretty good summary, if I recall correctly. Varsity scimmage starts at 7:00.
 19. I was going to go but something came up, so I was hoping I could get a report on how the scrimmage went from any Lee fans that are going. ;D
 20.

Good to hear any news from around the area.  Good luck to Coach Rourk and the Wildcats....until about the third round that is.... ;D
Well I can promise a lot more from that area, because next Monday rapayne takes the reigns of the El Campo Leader-News as Sports Editor!
Well I guess you'll be covering Angleton a few times when they play the Ricebirds in district 23-4A.
 21. I know Angleton isn't in southeast Texas, but recently have played some schools from this area, including Dayton who they'll play again this coming year, but Angleton will hire today Coach Ryan Rourk as new AD/HC. He has had real good success at Needville going 42-23 the past 6 years and making the playoffs multiple times. Before he arrived there, Needville was 15-45 the previous 6 years. Seems like everyone at Angleton is very excited with this hire and believe he will continue the success that Vanover started.
 22. Any news on who the finalist are yet? Curious to know if Coach Vanover from Angleton is being considered for the job. He was on the list of applicants, along with Coach Debruin, who is the OC at Angleton.
 23. Terrible, just terrible. Just can't imagine what his family and friends are going through right now. Thoughts and prayers to the Garrett family from Angleton on their loss.
 24. I think Angleton was lucky to be tied at the half they way Dayton was dominating the first half. I'll give the Angleton defense some credit though because the ball just didn't pop out because of wind shear as the Dayton ball carriers ran. They were hit causing those fumbles. But he probably meant because of those fumbles, Angleton was still in the game, or it could have gotten out of hand. I mentioned before this game that if Dayton got off to a quick start, the game could have been over by half. Dayton did get to a good start, but couldn't capitalize and Angleton was able to control the ball and game after half.
