1. Oh yeah, Crosby is going to be a tough team to beat. QB is solid and can scramble, but need to work on that run game. That will come in time. I was worried about our run game after losing BJ Foster and Tamerik Williams, but those 3 or 4 rbs that Angleton have are all tough runners with good speed. I think we’ll be ok there. As far as injuries, I didn’t see anyone get hurt last night for both teams other than our TE #11 take a wicked shot going up for a catch down the middle and getting hit in mid air. He held on to the ball but came back to the sideline afterward. Looked like maybe he got the wind knocked out because the trainer really wasn’t working on anything on him so maybe that’s all it was. Well I hope so because he’s our QB’s favorite receiver. Anyway good luck to Crosby. To bad we won’t meet again because I think you all are in division 2.
 2. Crosby has some talented kids on their team. QB has a lot of potential, but their offense had trouble moving the ball consistantly. Angletons defense looked really good. Crosby’s two scores were from quick screens that caught Angleton on blitzes. Crosby’s defense had trouble stopping Angletons offense. They consistently moved the ball on long drives both on the ground and through the air. All in all, good first scrimmage for both teams predicted to be ranked teams during the season.
 3. You're joking right? They just made it to the state semifinals last year and have made the playoffs every year since 2008, getting 4 rounds deep 4 times. I don't think winning was a problem with Coach Roark at Angleton.
 4. Don't know it this has been posted yet, but this is crazy. First Allen ISD with a 60 million dollar stadium and now this. [Hidden Content]

Just curious to see where Angleton is predicted on a supposedly down year for them coming up. Thanks.
1. Angleton 2. George Ranch 3. Rosenberg Terry 4. Richmond Foster 5. Lamar Consolidated 6. Freeport Brazosport 7. Bay City
George Ranch at #2, wow. Might be an interesting district to follow.
Its still amazing to me how hard Bay City has fallen off the map.
Yes, BC has really fallen hard and it doesn't look like they will be any good for a long while. Angleton's freshman team beat them 47-7 this past season. It was 47-0 after the 3rd and had a running clock in the 4th with Angleton's B  and C team players playing. It's crazy. As far as the district predictions, I'm really surprised at Angleton with the #1 spot. George Ranch is going to be a load and they have the potential to be another Pearland Dawson. My honest opinion would be GR at the 1 spot with Angleton and Foster battling for 2nd and Lamar and Terry for the remaining spots. It's going to be a tough start for Angleton with all their youth playing, but should pick up steam in district play.

 7. Just read that the Katy-Steele and DeSoto-Allen semifinal games will be aired on Fox Sports Southwest this Saturday. The Katy/Steele game is at 2 and DeSoto/Allen at 6. Just a little heads up.
I heard him, he wasnt very loud until both crowds were somewhat calmed down lol
how did you like the rolling drum?  that thing was loud.  lol
man i heard all types of sounds coming from the EC side, that was insane.
found all kind of ways to make noise.  proud of the way my hometown supported those boys.  wish all kids got that kind of support.  heard very little negative.
I sat with some EC fans when they played in Angleton a couple of years ago and they were one of the most respectful people I have talked to. The whole game they commented on how impressed they were with our team and I hardly ever heard any negativity for the kids, coaches of even the refs during the game. I thought I was in the twilight zone.  ;D But they did make as much noise as they could during the game.
 9. I told you all about El Campo.  ;) Always gave us (Angleton) fits. Those kids play hard and never quit. They played in 23-4A for many years and were always one of the top teams in the district. Plus they are well coached in Coach Gillis and have great fan support. Good to see EC make this deep run to the finals.
 10. Yes, do not, I repeat do not underestimate El Campo. They are a very solid and physical program, led by a very good coach in Gillis. They were always in the playoffs when they played in 23-4A and yes, they gave Manvel fits in their bi-district game last year. Lost 35-21, but really should have been 28-21. Last score by Manvel was a pick 6 on the last play of the game and most of that team returned for this season. Carthage may win, but it won't be easy. El Campo has a couple of D1 linemen on their team and are very strong on both lines.
 11.
Is that a yes? About Georgetown.....is their offense like one that you have not played before? Are they always in a 5 receiver set or do they run the ball too? We're you able to pressure their QB?
Yes, they are mostly in 4 and 5 WR sets. Their QB is very good. Can make all the throws and will tuck it and run when pressured. Has good size also (6'3, 185). We couldn't hardly get any pressure on him, but for some reason, we stayed in a 3 man front all day. Our best DL Deon Brown had trouble getting to him, but did get a hard shot on him and caused him to throw a pick. The key is to pressure him, but their OL is big and very strong. If any defense can put pressure in him, it would be the Nederland Dline. They can match up size and strength wise with GTown. They just need to stay in the lanes, work upfield and disrupt the QB's view downfield. They have good WR's, but their best playmaker is #2. He is small, but very quick. If Nederland's defense can get a few stops, then I think they can score just enough to get the win. But it won't be easy. GTown doesn't have the raw talent like Dawson offensively, but they play as a unit and they don't make too many mistakes. I'll be rooting for the Dogs this week.
 12. Yes, turnovers killed us today. 2 fumbles and a pick gave GTown a short field and you just can't do that against a quality team. We had 1 pick six and another deep in our own territory, so the offense scored 35 points on long drives against the Eagle defense. Just wasn't enough. Angleton RB Josh West had a great game today. Broke numerous tackles and had lots of big plays today. Proud of the Cats though. Another great year and hoping to keep it going next season. We will lose both of our talented RB's  :'( and a solid QB in Austin, but I'm excited about our QB next season. TJ Josey should take over under center and is a bigger (6'3, 185 4.6) and faster kid with a solid arm. Sorry Nederland fans that we couldn't give you your rematch, but the kids tried their best. Good luck to the Bulldogs next week.
 13. Comparing common opponents doesn't really work for me. It's all about matchups. It's like saying since we beat Foster 57-21 and Dawson only beat them 28-14 in bidistrict, we should beat Dawson by about 3 TD's if we played them. It doesn't work that way. It's the matchups and playing mistake free football.
 14. I'm not getting into a trash talking contest with Eagle. I'll only say I hope the Cats bring their A game and give Georgetown a heck of a game. They aren't 12-0 for nothing. I'm sure they have a quality program over there. Hope we give them some difficult matchup problems and pull out the win.
 15.
I just can't respect an opponent that has to lift their mascot from Kansas State. They couldn't even pick one from the great state of Texas. Eagles win in a route, 35-6.
OK. Well what about Georgetown getting their design from the Green Bay Packers? Or the Georgia Bulldogs? Who cares??? What Texas university has Wildcats as their mascot? I guess it just seemed natural to pick Kansas state. Both purple, silver and white and both Wildcats.  8)
 16.
Angleton is a good team. They just dont have the defense to back up the offense.
Yes, the defense has been real shaky. Get 3 starters back this week. For some reason I think they will step up and play much better this week. May or may not be enough to win over Gtown. We'll just have to see. Last year the defense wasn't playing very good in their playoff run, but really stepped it up and held Dawson in the regional final game to one of their lowest point total of their season. I think the Atown offense will have to play keep away and keep that Gtown offense on the sidelines as much as possible. RB's West and Cooper need big games this week along with the Oline.
 17.
GT beat "The Greatest Show On Turf" so there is no way Angleton will beat them! :) Go Cats. Always support the Purple!
That's what I was thinking.  ;D I know it will take a tremendous effort by the Cats to beat Gtown. And a couple of breaks to go our way also, but the Cats have the coaching and talent to beat them.
 18. Heard that they will flip for home game. If SC would have won they would have played at Rice stadium on Friday.
 19.
Angleton has one threat.  GTown will MURDER Angleton
Really? Just one? I guess Cooper isn't a threat. I guess Judkins isn't a threat. OK whatever you say.
 20. Coming from a Angleton fan, I'm pulling for the Dogs. Sat on the Nederland side when you all came down to Angleton and showed alot of class and also the kids played tough all night. Showed alot of heart to get back in the game after that terrible start. Angleton is very familiar with southeast Texas football having played Dayton, Vidor and Nederland these past couple of years and those programs are top notch. Good luck.
 21.
Since Angleton destroyed Foster Friday, they will likely play Friendswood and Foster will get Dawson.  Angleton still has to beat Terry but that won't be a problem.  I'm calling a Foster over Dawson upset!!!!
Terry is going to be hard to beat. Yes, their defense isn't playing all that great, but they have a great offense that can score in bunches. Also they had their bye week last week and should be ready for us. We'll see. I was surprised that Foster was manhandled they way they were. Coach Wiatrek is a good coach, but Coach Roark and his staff made adjustments after the half and literally dominated the Falcons. Wiatrek didn't have an answer for that. with that said, Foster is a real solid team and will give problems to whoever they play.
 22. Sometimes in football you just don't get the calls that go your way. That happened against Alief Taylor. Angleton had a couple of good drives that stalled when they got close to the red zone as did Alief Taylor. Defense for Taylor was outstanding. I see why they limited the Katy offense to 130 yards total and 230 yards to Hightower. I didn't think I would see a better defense this year after Nederland's, but Taylor's was better. Big and very fast, all 11 players. We had our chances though. Angleton's defense was also outstanding. Taylor's big back, who is a TCU signee, was very tough and did get about 220 yards, but that's all Taylor had. He was the main guy on that game winning drive. Oh well. Sucks we have to wait 2 weeks to redeem ourselves, but maybe this is the perfect time to regroup for the start of the real important games in district, starting with Lamar Cons.
 23.
Yet Taylor gave up 33 to FB Hightower in a 33-14 loss,Hightower edged Elkins 22-12  Dayt beat Elkins 17-6
I had a gut feeling Angleton was going to lose against Taylor. Taylor's defense was outstanding. Better than Nederland's and Nederland has a heck of a defense. Never mind that they gave up 23 and 33 points to 2 championship caliber 5A teams in Katy and Hightower, but the fact is that they only gave up a total of 130 yards to Katy and 230 yards to Hightower and outgained both of them in yardage. Turnovers were the keys to those losses. Angleton outgained Taylor in yardage and I was very proud on how the Wildcat defense played. Taylor just made the big plays late in the 4th and if it wasn't for a questionable pass interference call and the missed holding call on the DE, Angleton would have pulled it out. But that's football. Sometimes you get the calls and sometimes you don't. But again Alief Taylor had about 5 D1 caliber players on their defense and it showed. It was a tough, emotional loss and the good thing is that we have a bye week coming up to regroup and get ready for Lamar Cons. The bad is that we have to wait 2 weeks to get a chance to get back into the winning feeling.
 24.
Interesting take 2011....they are mighty good and I don't feel that it's a stretch to say that they are as good of a front (dline and linebackers) as any in the state for class 4A...great combination of size, athleticism, and technique from this group
I agree with that. Nederland's front 4 is impressive. Angleton rushed for about 275 yards and averaged about 7 yards a carry, but those were hard fought yards. Our Oline had their hands full and thought they did a good job creating holes for the backs against that front. Vidor's oline will have to play their "you know what" off against Nederland's d.
 25.

Just now able to post my observations on the game yesterday. You guys have one heck of a football team over there. Big and strong kids. Gave us all we wanted. We needed a game like that after the BWood game. So many turnovers on your side and all those dang penalties on us and still went down to the wire. The Bulldog secondary pretty much put the clamps on our passing game and Coach Roark adjusted some after the half and pounded the rock just enough to get some scores and pull it out. Hats off to the Nederland HC to go for the win after closing 32-31 instead of the tie. Our defense made the big play there. And what about that rain! That stuff was coming down sideways. :o Glad it slowed up some to play the second half. Anyways good luck the rest of the year and hope to see the Dogs in the playoffs. Also hope the injured players get healthy. We had our best DB, which is also our fastest kid, get injured and only played the first half. I think he has bruised ribs. He'll be sore the next couple of days , but he'll be fine. Was a very physical game.
I was afraid about #9 all night. He could be VERY dangerous if y'all can get him the ball. I know y'all tried a few times early, but the Ned DBs made great plays. He's probably 6'3", fast, and a big frame on him. He is a great weapon to have for sure.
Yeah, #9 Jalyn Judkins had a huge game against BWood last week with almost 200 yards recieving and 3 TD's, but we couldn't get him going. The passing game just wasn't clicking for QB Austin. The Bulldog defense had alot to do with that and the weather didn't help.  He did have a long reception that got us inside the 5, but was called back for a holding penalty. Penalties killed us all night. Had that long 90 yard TD run by Richard Cooper called back because of a hold also. Oh well.
