Thanks. But if someone was let go without being told why, they can still file suit against the company for wrongful termination, right? It may be legal, but it doesn't seem to me that the company would want the immediate court costs. Especially in this sue-happy day and time. Was in HR as well.......Texas is a right-to-work state. This means that under the Texas Labor Code, a person cannot be denied employment because of membership or non-membership in a labor union or other labor organization. Texas is an at-will state, an employer can fire an employee with or without cause. The only exception would be if you are fired for an illegal reason. (Because of your gender, religion, political affiliation, age, etc). Most companies follow policies that are fair so that someone is not fired for an illegal reason.

After reading your post on both WO-S threads, you seem to have the "poor me" attitude. If the school board cannot afford public transportation, it will be left to the parents. That's a fact you cant argue. I posted a message a few months ago.....after my divorce, quit a job that required nights and got a day job Mon - Fri with a serious enough paycut to have to sell my house. The benefit is I have 1/2 custody of my child and I'm off when hes not in school. We can't do as much financially, but we got each other. I'm not super dad, have made my mistakes, but at least I know what is important....taking care of my kid! There are a lot of national problems, rape, robbery, murder, etc.... We don't have to let them effect our communities. I agree and respect several WO-S posters, they all seem like great people. My son plays youth football and WO-S has some great athlete's. The parents that have the issues with the transportation needs to make some noise at the schoolboard. Its going to take more than 20 people. Mr. Chippy, You'll have to find someone else to throw that title on because I'm far from the "poor me"-type. My point is transportation is vital to many whose parents aren't there for whatever reason to get their kids for whatever reason. I can tell you that my kids probably wouldn't have been able to been active in any UIL events that they were involved in if it had not been for transportation at certain points in their school years. Honey, there is nothing pitiful about me or anything that has happened. I am just stating the facts and in a perfect world, all parents would be involved in their kids' lives more. Kudos to you for doing what you had to do as a parents and feel fortunate that you were able to do those things because some people just cannot do it or will not do it. No pity expected or accepted. Nice try though!!! ;) Mrs. Stang, You may have missed my point. All parents must set priorities as to what is important to them. Everyone seems to be upset with the school board for taking away a program that is not a requirement of the school. They do not have to transport kids to and from optional events. While I do think it is a worthwile program, it is not required, nor should it be expected from the school. What should be expected is the parents is to be involved in their child's life. I'm not asking the parents to do anything I have not done or the majority of most parents have not done. To just say "its a nation problem" and expect the school district to continue to do something they say they cannot afford is not solving any problem. If the root cause is the parents, then some energy should be spent trying to fix that issue. I applaud you for bringing kids home and taking up the slack of some parents, but is that really your responsibility? I know I have a hard enough time taking care of my one child. So, I will say again, Good Luck at the next meeting, I hope the entire town shows up. I hope the bus program continues to run for the sake of the kids. I also hope this is a wake up call and that something can be done to get parents more involved with their children! P.S. Mrs. Stang you sound like a strong women and a responsible mother!

You see, that is why WO-S is so different and that is what many of the WO-S posters have been trying to say. You just proved the point. Many of the parents could care less about their kids. Why punish the kids because of this? I didn't prove a point, I stated the facts. I never mentioned punishing the kids. However, since you bring it up; If the parents are really that bad, don't you think you have a bigger issue than football? If I had to choose between parenting my kid and making sure he gets a ride to practice.......well, the answer is obvious. I go back to my last post........get more than 20 people at the next meeting. If they can't find a ride with this much notice........well, that's a different subject.

NCAA should give this some thought........

I agree with you on the fact the players should be able to leave when they want. I completely disagree with your method of communication. Personally insulting someone that disagrees with you shows lack of character. I'm sure your a fine person, but you should think about how you communicate. -
ITS ALL GOOD!! :)

I totally agree. I have said this before, but where are the parents in this equation?? The "cant's" or "wont's" do not fly with me. During football season, I dedicate 4 days per week to get my Son to practices and games. Sometimes it can be a challenge, but I make it happen. Having a bus program is a great idea, but if you can't afford it, you can't afford it. I think we all want something we can't afford.........but we live within our means. A parents #1 priority is keeping their children safe. The schools #1 priority is providing a "QUALITY" education while in a safe environment, NOT providing transportation to and from school for after school programs. Good luck with the bus program, I hope you get it back, If you don't, I hope the parents step up, get involved and take care of their children. You finally said something I can agree with. If we don't get it back I hope the parents find a way to get their kids back and forth. I also agree that the schools #1 priority is education. Look at our TAKS scores and then you can give our administrators a grade for how they have done with their #1 priority. I'm not sure how they think we will get different results by doing the same thing with the same people running the schools. I'm glad I have finally got your appoval...... ;D TD, I'm not trying to bash WO-S. Just trying to live in reality. I have not looked at the TAKS scores, but if they are not up to par, then something should be done. I also agree, the same actions will equal the same results.

We have a soccer team? Just kidding. I didn't get it at all. I didn't get why it mattered. Just don't read it if the WOS people are bothering you that much. I never played a down of high school football but I like to watch it. TD, I honestly think AggiesAreWe was making a joke about how well WO-S supports their football program. I did not take it negative at all. I have noticed that WO-S is all over the football boards.........my son plays youth and WO-S is just as aggressive at 8 years old. They dominated the youth forum.....along with Lumberton! So, be proud of your city's participation...........I think it's great!

What do you play better, Football or Politics?? -
Every team has holes to fill year in and year out, but unless you have some sort of inside info/magic ball that us other Mustang fans don not have, the holes that need to be filled are few. There's an extremely strong core group of ponies, that will be bigger, stronger, & faster, including an undefeated JV squad that has not lost a game since their Jr. High days. The stable's are quite full for the next several seasons in Mustang Land. Trust me, and I DO have some inside info. ;)GO 'Stangs! I have to say one thing that WO-S has is CONFIDENCE!! :

wow............that is awesome!! -
Yes it does serve multiple TVs. You can get as many boxes as you need. You can lose the signal if it is raining real hard, but really I hardly ever lose the signal. Never lost a signal just because it's cloudy. I currently have Dish and love it. I've had Directv in the past, but I like Dish better. They are both really the same. I will never go back to cable. I have DishNetwork and I also love it. I have the dual tuner DVR boxes(so I can record) and my son LOVES it. I think I have every Spongebob cartoon ever made!!!! And IF you loose signal, you have 150 or so hours of recorded material to watch. I have only lost signal once or twice for a couple hours (just ending 2 yr contract)........Ike did NOT effect my TV......that's also a selling point! Negative.........If you have to call customer service, relax, get your beer ready, eat something, and plan on spending a few hours on the phone if it's something serious. Most are also hard to understand because English is not their first language. Overall, blows away cable. When I converted over, I called TW to see if they would meet their price due to so many extra channels......the answer was a quick NO. They could of cared less.........

PNG will not hire this coach... not qualified
thetragichippy replied to SuperflySnuka's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Not from PNG, but he was around last year and think he will be around for years to come. I'm from TJ (NOT Memorial) and always thought that the Indian Spirit was cool. As for as Indian Culture, Indians were known for their war dances. That is basically what he does.......and pretty well I might add! I think we are too politically correct these days, can't call a short guy short.......he's "vertically challenged" I think that's bull and I'm a short guy! And their fight song is cool and gets the fans motivated!! -
Thanks GOD!! I thought I was the only one who teared up!

THIS GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU GUYS THAT WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE A COACH FROM ANOTHER AREA. I HEAR EVERYONE SAYING ALL THESE OTHER SO CALLED GREAT COACHES (SUGGS) THAT IS LOADED WITH STUDENTS, SIZE AND TALENT,BUT NONE OF THEM HAS WON A STATE TITLE OR EVEN CONTENDED FOR ONE ON THE 5A LEVEL, TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. MY SON ATTENDS CINCO RANCH IN KATY. NONE OF HIS COORDINATORS TEACH CLASSES, WHICH MEANS THEY STRICTLY STUDY THERE OPPONENTS WITHOUT ANY DISTRACTIONS AT ALL. THAT HOLDS TRUE FOR ALL KATY SCHOOLS, NO COORDINATORS TEACH CLASSES. MAYBE PAISD SHOULD TRY THAT SINCE KATY WON STATE AGAIN, CINCO WENT 3 DEEP, AND KATY TAYLOR WENT 3 DEEPS ALSO. I THINK KENNY CARES MORE ABOUT YOUR STUDENTS THAN A STRANGER, AND HE PROVES IT BY HIS DEDICATION TO THEM DAILY. Dude, read the forum rules........... 6) NO SHOUTING!!- (Use of "Caps Lock") The standard practice on most message boards, forums, emails, web pages, etc. is that the use of all caps is regarded as SHOUTING!!

Another Smart Move (Yea) By The WOS School Board
thetragichippy replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
As I understand it the $275 for 10 people was for 10 days. That's $27,500 which would have either paid or just about paid for the buses regardless of what figures were used. Fortunately our school board had enough sense to vote this down. It just makes you go hmmmmmmmmm if we need to save money that bad. Although, I remain true to my previous post, I think it should be parents responsibility to get their kids to school. If the money is being carelessly spent WO-S should do something about it. The EXAMINER is always looking for a good article!! -
Another Smart Move (Yea) By The WOS School Board
thetragichippy replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Lets see, $275.00 per day X 5 days = $1375 per week, = $5912.50 per month, = $70,950 per year X 10 people = $709,500 per year. This of course, is based on a full year, but it does show how $275.00 per day can add up. The one common factor is that most WO-S people have an issue with the School Bus program being taken away or do not agree with the way the money is being spent. Talking about it on this forum is doing nothing but maybe relieving a little stress. If it's really that important, do something about it! Show up on a Monday with every kids parent you can find and protest! Get the parents to "picket" out in front of the school. That would get the media out if you could find enough parents. Its called legal protest. You can do it! OR...................you can just talk about how bad it is and do nothing...... TD..............You have some good post, keep it up! -

Your right, little league has nothing to do with school athletics unless you think a little league program will improve the kids skills when they do reach high school.......which I do. Lumberton has no little league football field...........we use the intermediate school practice field. I realize WOS does not play Lumberton in high School, but if you read some post in youth football, WOS people use the "jealous" and "hater" card all the time......Seems a lot(not all) seem to think everyone is against them. Anytime you question them they come back with the, "your just mad because we win" card. That is what caught my attention in your post. I really don't think anyone thinks that stopping a school bus route would destroy a football team. If it did, it says very little about that football team. -

thetragichippy replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Based on your post, it appears the "WOS haters" you refer to is anyone who made a comment that did not support the "Taxi Program". Now, not putting all WOS people in one bucket, it seems someone always brings up how great the football team is and how we (we = anyone else) are secretly trying to do things to sabotage the football program everytime we disagrees with anything that is not pro WOS football. (sorry, run on sentence!!) Trust me, most NORMAL people don't sit up at night and plan ways to make sure your "program will fall apart". The fact is, it was WOS board members that voted down the bus program. It was not people from outside your town. So, why did you think your own people did this? Should not this be the question you ask? My son plays football for Lumberton peewee. Lumberton has a reputation for "having money". We also have a very successful football program. Have you seen the condition of our stadium? You should see out Little League baseball field. Our high School scoreboard was not 100% functional all year. Its all about money. We live with what we have. And for your last comment, instead of telling us (WOS haters) to "just get better and work harder", maybe you guys should get with your parents and "work harder" getting your kids to practice like everyone else does. My son plays 3 sports and it can be a pain in the "" to get him to practice, but he has never missed!! Lastly, I hope you guys resolve the problem and the buses keep running. If it keeps kids in school I do agree with it. I just hope education is somewhere in your list of priorities.........
