1. I ran this through one of those computer comparison functions on a website and it came back with Newton winning 59-14. That's as close as it will get to actually playing.
 2. Dennis Alexander is the 4th winningest coach in Texas high school football. He was the head coach of the 1983 Daingerfield team that is considered by many to be the best high school football team ever in Texas. This Troup team is good, but lost late in the season to White Oak after having beat Tatum earlier. They are led by a sophomore QB and that could be their one weak point. EC will have to put together one of their better games to beat this team, but they are capable of doing it. EC in a close one 32-28.
 3. We will take them one at a time, but I think a state title is not out of the question for Newton.
 4.
actually Newtons best would be Kevin Shorter.. He would be well over 2000 yards rushing if he didn't get pulled before halftime every game of the regular season
Or if he was the only weapon at running back that Newton has. Johnson, Foster, Dean, Hadnot, Elam can all be counted on to tote the rock. That cuts down on stats for any one individual, but sure does do good things for the team.
 5. Curtis Barbay had the ability to get a team to play over their heads at times and to never believe they could be beaten. Maybe Darrell can instill this attitude with the Bulldogs. A team becomes very dangerous when they do these things. I'm pulling for you "Dawgs"! Go show 'em what you got. ;)
 6.
Newton fans if you want to listen to the Teague vs. Palmer playoff game, they play tomorrow (Thursday) night 7pm You can listen on KNES 99.1 they have streaming audio
Thanks for this info. I will tune in.
 7. In the past Teague had some good size, but not much speed. Is this true this year? Newton has team speed. Different than than just one or two that can run. Farmer Fran what game did you see them play? Newton has been pretty consistent over the year, but some games has looked really, really good.
 8. Newton will play the winner of Troup/Franklin vs Palmer game. This will be on Friday the 23rd at Abe Martin stadium in Lufkin. Should be a 7 or 7:30 kickoff.
 9. Woodville also always plays Newton tough. Always have. It's not etched in stone anywhere that they are gonna get steamrolled. I expect Newton will win, but I hope the predictions of no one there for Woodville are wrong.

 11.
I don't even think Jerry Jones could screw Newton up.
OOOHHHH. Let's not get carried away. We may be pretty good, but we're not that good. ;D ;D
 12.

What has happened to Kountze? They came out like a ball of fire but have slowly gotten worse...I was expecting a big run outta these guys..guess the hoop is too much to overcome
Considering we only won 3 games last year and were pretty much never in playoff contention... id say this was definitely a better year..
You bet! Good turn around and something to build on.
 13.
I believe Fortune will be successful, I say that because I never saw one kid quit during the game against Newton. They were fighting till the end. I can't even imagine how hard it is to motivate a whole group of kids knowing a machine like Newton was coming to town, knowing what they've done to everybody all year. Give the guy a chance, he understands that he has to rebuild this program and it starts in the junior high. The, "I get paid to win on Friday nights" attitude is gone. Maybe a little support for him instead of hiding on a message board and bad mouthing him will help too.
Very good. +1
 14.
Like I said, I will give Fortune the benefit of the doubt. He himself said he needed 3 years to get the program turned around. My sources are school board members, as to how the team is performing on Friday night. I'll attend when they report back to me that things are turned around. Thank you Newton Nation, lol.
This is so laughable. Nothing like a true fan. What are you going to do next? Hold your breath until they get better. Childish. Your probably better off not going to the games, because those kids out there playing their hearts out only need the support of someone that cares about them.
 15. No, I'm saying he don't know what he is talking about. Giving Fortune a chance is a side bar. Especially if he hasn't attended a game since 2008. How does he know anything about what the kids are doing and how the coach is coaching? There is an ax to grind behind the scenes.
 16. I thought Hardin was trying to do the right things against Newton. But they didn't work out. Geez, at least give the new guy a chance. It just sounded to me like hardin01 has an ax to grind and he doesn't know much of what he is talking about. He did not recognize the wing T was what Newton was running and have run for 30+ years, and have had a little success with you might say, he might need to study his X's and O's a little better. ;)
 17.
Coach un-Fortune-ate will not get "anything" going in the right direction. You sound like an Obama supporter. This is why he was 3rd favorite for the job, but our board failed us. Josh Sadler, or Slack should have been hired. This guy (Fortune) wants to WIN with the WING T offense? This is not 1980.
You just got hammered 63 to 7 by the wing T with variations. Since 1980 Newton has played in three state title games winning 2 of those with the wing T. One each in 3A and 2A. The latest in 2A in 2005, which is the most recent title for anyone in the golden triangle area. Maybe you might try giving the guy a chance since Hardin consistently lost using the spread in previous years. How much worse can it get? It might even get better with some weight lifting and conditioning in the off season. Just an observation from an outsider.
 18. I think that's actually averaging less than 10 points allowed on defense per game. Which is still not to shabby. :)
 19. There were no play clocks. Hardin needs to spend hours in the weight room this off season and they could improve drastically. Got size, some speed, but no strength. Just my opinion.
 20.
Idk why ppl think Kountze should lose??
I think mainly because they are unproven. Historically they have lost and you can't turn perceptions around in a single year. If they continue to improve in the next few years, they will get the respect their looking for IMO.
 21. I have no idea what planet your watching the Newton Eagles from, but there has to be some spatial distortion affecting your view. 3min left? Offense on defense? What does that even mean. If you watch closely you will see continuing substitutions through out the game. On the defensive line, outside linebacker, defensive backs, running backs, recievers, and a sophomore QB getting reps in the third and fourth quarter. There are some who play more minutes than others. DJ Dean, Jenkins kid at middle linebacker, and a few more. But your 3 min rule don't work. Agreed that Shorter needs to protect the ball better, but I don't think he is guilty of all the Newton fumbles. C'mon man!

 23. BMTSoulja 1 is OK. Newton should do well with a fan, not an adversary, like him. Thumbs up to him! :) +1
