2. All I know is it's FRIDAY and GAME DAY for the Newton Eagles!! Abe Martin Stadium, 7:30 kickoff, Newton on visitor's side. Skin those lions Eagles!! ;)
 3.

it may not be the coach or the kids  or talent but what needs to happen is the kids need to able to have fun playing the sport instead of always trying to please mommy or daddy with trying to do to much to win. i know most of the coaches and parents of these kids and i was once one of those who played and coached in the hf glory days. we never were favored to win but we did because we enjoyed playing for our school pride..    p.s. we didn't have to lift weights all year long or run extra but we were ready when the lights came on to compete you have to let these kids have fun and rest for their bodys and mind to be prepared to compete. lifting 5 days a week is a bit to much for these kids they are miserable and hate going to athletics and you new coaches should know this.
What is the problem in HF??  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^  There it is right there.  Parents against offseason.  No offseason, no successful football season.  Period.
Exactly! If you have no strength and haven't increased your foot speed, your going to lose nowadays against teams that have worked on these things, I don't care how much you "want to" win. Kids can't win the real games with their Nintendo thumbs and couch butts.
 4. Newton vs Franklin game at Abe Martin stadium in Lufkin. 7:30 kickoff and Newton will be visitors. Can't wait. Go Eagles!!
there is always "someone"
Maybe NOT this year.  It's been awhile; is this the year the Eagles fly all the way to the top?  Let's hope so, Southeast Texas! 8)
Newton owns the last State Championship trophy in the Golden Triangle and has a good shot at getting the next one. The last time Newton played Deweyville the game was called in the third quarter and everyone went home. It wouldn't make it to halftime now. Funny talk though, really really funny talk. ;D ;D ;D
 6.
I don't care about a blowout, just want a Newton Eagle win and no one from either team gets injured. I think this will be a very physical game and some-one said Franklin ran behind #68 nearly all the time so that lineman must be pretty good also. I don't want another triple overtime game either. Newton is good but not 10 times better than the Newton team that played Franklin last time. I think they are better but just better. JMHO
I disagree. Newton is a LOT better team than the one that went 3OT with Franklin last time. Not just better. This Newton team is the best one since the '98 team in my opinion. Better than the 2004 finalist and better than 2005 state champion. But they still have to play each game hard and one at a time. Can't look past any team.
I know for sure now he jokin, funny guy
He's not jokin' - he's just the newest IDIOT among us.  Every community has one; seems like Deweyville and Kirbyville have more than their share. ;D 8)
It takes multiple generations to upgrade the genetics in any family line! Especially with limited potential to begin with.  ;)

Deweyville can smoke Newton on ANY GIVEN FRIDAY, son. Looks like you're the one who needs a reality check. Lucky for you Deweyville didn't get the opportunity to deliver it to you this year.
At least he's funny. And optimistic! As a realist I don't think he knows what universe he's in, but at least he's funny.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
 9.
Newton and Cameron are both tough teams but don't forget about Daingerfield on the other side of the bracket.  I really think Cameron or Newton will play Daingerfield for the state championship.
New Boston might be in the mix on the other side of the bracket as well. I think one of these four will be the state champion.
 10. Let's go Nederland Bulldogs, West Orange-Stark Mustangs, and Newton Eagles! Represent the area well and bring home those victories!! :)

They will not give Newton a real challenge.  You have to key in on #20 he is their play maker.  I see Newton winning by 40+.
Franklin people are saying #20 is best back in 2a. hard to believe he is better than Roberts from E C or Shorter from Newton. What do you think ?
Haskins is the best back in 2A.
Here we go again. Have you seen all the backs in 2A. I bet not. Making a statement such as this I know is your opinion and your welcome to it, but just because they beat your Tatum team does not make him superman. I believe Newton will match up better and will contain him to the point of not allowing him to be the game changer. Not saying he won't score or get some yards, but won't beat Newton. And if Franklin's defense has any weaknesses, Newton will find them. Too many weapons and speed for them to contain. Newton has faced "really good Qb's" and "this team is the best Newton has faced so far" and we know how those worked out. Bring the Lions on, the Eagles will be ready. The Newton Eagles.
 13. I don't care if it ain't but by 1, long as we win. ;)

 15. And by the way, Kevin Shorter was just voted the Houston area Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the YEAR. They have a weekly Warrior and Kevin has won it. Now he has won for the year. Congrats to Kevin. Go Eagles!!
It's always easy to say things and base those on opinion. Shorter doesn't have the stats to make him stand out for a comparison. The reason is Newton has far too many weapons to rely heavily on Shorter, so he doesn't get as many touches as a lot of the "elite" backs. But I would take him in a heart beat over anyone else. The kid has talent and the mind set to go with it. Franklin will get their chance Friday night to make their minds up about what a great back is. And I think it is Shorter.
True True....... Pretty impressive numbers put up by those Eagles Friday night..... ;)  We are making this game.....save my crew and I a seat.....
Ya'll can sit with us if you like, but most don't want to because I'm "too loud". But you know me, so make up your own mind. lol

Anyone needing a football fix should try to make it. I think there will be lots of action (translated : scoring).  ;)
I didn't like playing in that stadium at all. If Newton's used to grass, they won't like it either. Tell them to get some turf cleats if they don't have any already. That field is like carpet.
Thanks for the heads up, but Newton has played here many times. Good field. Turf is comparative to many installed in newer stadiums.
 20.
To win state you have  to be good and have a little luck to go with it. All the teams left in the playoffs are good now. I remember when Kville was playing, I think Muleshoe, and things were going Kvilles way when they fumbled a punt and things turned for them. I think Kville had a team capable of winning state but luck was not on their side. Just hope the breaks go our way the remaining games. It was good to see coach Alvaraz and coach Hill at the Grandview game. Hope the Newton fans don't get the big head and start thinking we are unbeatable.
If anybody has too, I would rather it be the fans than the team. Neither should because you are absolutely correct. Anything can happen at anytime. Boyd in 2004 showed Newton what can happen. A little small QB that ran off tackle all day and took the trophy home. Luck, bounce of the ball, flags at critical times, injuries, mind set. There are a lot of intangibles that can swing a game one way or the other. WT makes it clear that Texas is a big state and just because you know something about your little part, don't mean you know everything about the whole thing. Sickness worked through the team last week and I think it showed on the defense as they were on the field a lot and fatigue set in during the second half. Grandview got to the line of scrimmage quickly and ran plays quickly which did not give the D any time to catch a breath. Long downfield pass routes were used with numerous receivers that you have to cover even if they don't catch the ball. Fatigue equates to sloppy play. One sloppy play and a TD becomes the result. Could change everything at a critical time.

 24. Finally made it home safe and sound. Incidents like tonight make you understand what just a breath away really means. Waited 2 hours for emergency crews and law enforcement to do their jobs. Enjoyed the game but realize it is only a game. Sad.
