  1. Not in rural SouthEast Texas. This will be the norm. Someone on Smoaky said Alto had 90+ applications for AD/HFC. I would like to see the the actual list of applicants per a Public Information Request. I am confident that the number would not approach 90. The public needs to understand that not only will head coaches be hard to find, assistants will be even more difficult to find. What Dad's and Mom's consider small East Texas town a good job doesn't mean qualified coaches are willing to come there.
  2. Woodville is just fine. Woodville was 9-3. We fumbled the go ahead touchdown in the end zone of the Area game. We had a good year. This team did not have the defense to go to State.
  3. You are correct. The BBQ is a good thing in Warren. Warren is a good District. They provide their students the opportunity to play. The focus is not athletics. Go to a football game, the community comes out to support the team.
  4. I expect a good competitive game this week. I am going with Woodville in a close one. Woodville returns some defensive help from injury this week. We had a spark last week and I think it continues.
  5. Woodville played there best football of the year in the second half. Babin was sharp and receivers made plays. Tolar came for a few wildcat snaps to get tough yards.
  6. Eagles won. Thankfully the team didn't quit and the coaches didn't quit. These kids learned alot about themselves and that life is tough but keep plugging, you never know when things will turn. We are 9-2. Same as the prior year.
  7. We will return one DL from injury (out since Newton game). Lost a DE/DL due to cut on hand (15 stitches from Kountze game) I would say as healthy as you can be in Week 11. Offense is going to have to keep the clock running and finish possessions. Our defense will give up points.
  8. Texas Sports Writers Association [Hidden Content]
  9. Defensives Starters Graduating (Woodville cannot replace this production in a year) Tavion Hunter (All-State, Willy Ray Smith Award), Jaython Hyder (All-State), Jaython Traylor (All-State), Ashton Daily (All State), Wyatt Walsh, Dwayne Koenig, Caleb Johnson I am missing one.
  10. I agree that Woodville has a shot in a high scoring game. I see an improved offense from last year. Babin is getting to make reads and decisions this year. The O-Line has improved over the season. LeDoux (sp) has stepped up to be a quality receiver, Tolar is getting the best cover guy and still getting catches and the other skill guys are stepping up. Rigsby is gaining confidence after some early drops. Defense lost to graduation and is improving but last year was an exceptional all-around defense.
  11. Jasper could be 1-6.
  12. Woodville's Homecoming Woodville looking to go 2-1. Should be a good game. Woodville's OL and DL gaining experience and looking to be more consistent. Go Eagles
  13. Prior Coach would not allow a run through.(9 years he did not allow a run through). He denied multiple requests from the team to let them have one and sponsors willing to buy one. (Woodville lost his first game with the run through and he decided the run through was bad luck). No one has stepped up to sponsor one yet for the new coach. Setxfan can provide the fact check for us.
  14. Back on topic: Woodville can even the record at 1 and 1 (same as last year after two games). Anahuac can level at 1 and 1. These two schools have met as District foes quite a bit recently until Woodville's drop to D-II. Looking for a good game. Woodville's OL and DL need experience. Go Eagles.
