  1. As for the game, I was there and the best team on that day won the game. There's no shame in that for Silsbee. Someone always has to lose. Playing in that game alone is an amazing accomplishment. I never saw Big Sandy leaving San Antonio without that trophy but I was wrong. You just never know and it's a testament to just how hard it is to win a championship. Both of those teams spent most or all the season ranked #1 but in the end came up short. They were both excellent teams and should be very proud of all they accomplished.

Thanks. Any other info would be greatly appreciated. My heart goes out to the Tigers who came up a little short tonight but congrats on a great season to a great team.

Interesting twitter message conversation I had with two individuals last night

    ABC 13 sports

    Houston Chronicle

Neither have any interest in Big Sandy basketball........And will not be covering Big Sandy at San Antonio

Neither sports writer had any clue of where Big Sandy was, nor any idea they would be competing for a championship trophy this weekend.

The sports affiliates out of Beaumont aren't able to cover BS because that's not in their viewer/coverage area.

I wish things were different. I know nobody from BS wants the attention and or feels shunned by it. I just think it's an atrocity that a team this GREAT year in and year out can go Un-Noticed by the sports media around the area. Like, how do you do your job and not cover the best in the business at the 2a Level ? Blows my mind.

This is such a disappointing reality. Any journalist worth his or her salt would see the clear value and dynamic in a story of this kind, if they did just 5 minutes of research. There are so many story lines that could be highlighted and what a great feel good story it would be. It really exposes everything wrong with large scale media today. Big Sandy would have a better shot at getting covered by the four letter network than they would by someone in their own backyard/Texas.

  4. Tenaha spent a ton of energy tonight trying to dispose of a pesky Kerens team. I can't see them having enough to take down the Wildcats. I thought we might be in for a tight one but after the taxing semifinal for Tenaha and the fact that Big Sandy has played better with each game they played thus far in the playoffs, I see Big Sandy victorious with a margin of victory in the 18 to 24 point range.

Huffman is playing very good basketball.  They put a lot of pressure on the ball in the half court set, but that isn't as effective against a team like Cleveland.  Both can shoot it well from outside, but Huffman is more consistent.  They should be able to win comfortably, but nothing has been a sure thing in this district all year.

As much as I would love to be a homer here, I can't. Your assessment of Cleveland and there ability to shoot from the outside is not very accurate. They have no legitimate perimeter threat at all to be honest. It's there major weakness. If you keep them out of the lane, out of transition, and off the offensive glass they have nothing to go to and be successful.

First, this is the basketball thread on SETX. Second, Cleveland has won their district either 6 of the last 7 years or 7 of the last 8? And you guys better own Cleveland on Friday because they will be starting 3 freshmen, 1 junior, and 1 senior.

Never called you anything, much less racist. I said your comments were borderline. Trust me, I know it's sports talk and all in good fun, or at least it should be. And since you couldn't figure it out, I'll spell it out. I'm from Cleveland, and own Coldspring is exactly what we've done!

Not sure I can respect the racial implications of your comment but I'll assume it was unintentional. I will set the record straight however, I'm from a town 18 miles east of Coldspring down FM2025 that has owned the Trojans for the better part of a decade on the hardwood. Drop the mike...I'm done
