I was on the field yesterday. Outfield is already bad so much so they haven't been practicing on it. Luckily the most important part of the field is turf. G says they should play just with some slipping and sliding in the the outfield.

Coach Williams just texted me. Memorial and Channelview will play for 2nd place Friday. Time and place TBD.

Was just in the low 30's a couple days ago with sleet and snow flurries at Arkansas State. It's 34 in Jonesboro right now. For baseball I would say that's frigid. Portland is 39.

The weather in Jonesboro, AR and Portland, OR is pretty frigid for baseball. The only unusual team this weekend is SFA.

Good Tournament at Vincent-Beck to start the season. Better one the following weekend with Gonzaga and Illinois. Dayton is a heavy favorite but I expect Vidor to go four corners from the first bucket.....a very slow game if the Lady Pirates can have it their way.

Biggest fear if the field gets replaced........PURPLE turf!

Noticed the LaMarque school board won't allow the to  play a non-district game more than 50 miles away due to their likely move to a district that requires more travel. I expect to see more school boards come up with rules like these due to economics .

The home and away teams were chosen before the season started. Thought they did a good job with the matchups based on RPI's. Also George Mason will have to play a return game in November or December next season according to the BracketBusters site.

PN-G won their pool beating Pflugerville Connally and Waco LaVega. Tied Leander Rouse. Lady Indians then won their semifinal game before taking home the title. Not sure on those opponents.

Best SLC Saturday afternoon crowd you'll see. Doty was supposed to be with the team on Thursday. He can't play this year.

Weird that ESPN is considering UTA one of the TV games when it is actually only on ESPN3.

I'm ready for any games! See PN-G's tournament schedule is a killer a usual. Baytown, LaPorte and Lufkin. My senior year we had the PN-G/Nederland (Back when it was larger field), Oak Ridge/Woodlands and Deer Park Tournament.

So you are saying since Slocum benched Long he should stay the back-up under a different Head Coach? Are you serious? There are changes all over the field after a coaching change and a lot of times that includes the QB. Obviously, McNeal wasn't great at ATM and IMHO Long would have won more games. There is one thing still missing in you arguement. The players you mentioned may have been under recruited in college but they all had at least one school offerring a scholarship. Doty had zero! LOL at that  ;) [/quote] And there's a lot more to the story from when Slocum was coaching Dustin (pressure from administration), to the Fran situation (a call from RC to Dustin in the offseason that helped make his choice to leave) etc. Dustin and I played baseball together and still remain friends.

Even after a slow start Lamar's RPI is 105 thanks to non-conference. UTA is currently 150.
