You were running it down by saying your kid is now at a school where the coaches play the best kids and there are no politics, but we can agree to disagree on that.

By politics in Lumberton, what are you referring to?  I don't know a single kid on the varsity roster who did not deserve to be starting or playing as much as he did.  Same with baseball, basketball (girls and boys), track (girls and boys), etc, etc.  And like I said before, I have kids that have not started or been on the A team.  So if someone was going to see it, I think I would be in a good position to experience and feel that.  Please elaborate on what your experience was that made you feel that way.  Am I saying that LISD can't improve?  Absolutely not.  And that goes for academics as well as athletics.  But I think parents blaming politics is a bigger problem than actual politics. Just my opinion.

If that is what you truly believe, you are a part of the problem.

Coaches hang their livelihoods on wins and losses. To assume that a coach is playing another, less talented kid over yours due to politics, is a short sighted assessment. Your kid plays at Evadale because they are 2A and not 5A.

The Hardin job had zero to do with Haynes being reassigned then eventually resigned.

The last few posts are hilarious and superbly untrue lol. The kids with talent are on board. They even do "well" in English class. Smh

I haven't heard of one important kid that is leaving due to Babin's hiring. The bottom line is that the kids loved Haynes and were upset when he was let go. That's totally normal and speaks to what a great man/coach he is/was. As to the board agenda drama posts, in my opinion, there was a chance to bring back a coach they think will be around for an extended period and do well to boot. There wasn't an agenda against Haynes as he had the team headed in the right direction. It was a timing issue. Haynes isn't going to coach forever. He's retired once already. He was paid. Also, I'm hearing Babin will get to carry a larger coaching staff while retaining some of last year's staff. Babin had a chance to advance his career and come home. It was a no brainer. Some of these posts should be in the National Enquirer.

How was this hire a personal agenda by the school board?

Have you seen the complete list of the 26 applicants?

BTW, there was at least 25 football players in attendance at the meeting Thursday night. All seemed happy with the hire. Smiles on all the faces.

Yes, from the Bmt enterprise interview Babin said he will run a balanced offense featuring the 2 backs from last year mixing in 20-25 passes a game. He said he knows he will be throwing the ball the most he ever has in his coaching career but is confident he has the personnel to execute it. Also switching from 4-3 defense to an attacking 3-4. I know the boys that showed up for the board meeting were excited. Good luck Coach Babin.

The coach most of the kids wanted was eliminated earlier in the week. They were all disappointed but hopefully will all pull together. There is talent in the group coming back next year if they all stay together.

I removed some previous posts because of things said were not factual. Please refrain from posting inaccuracies regarding a coaches profession.

Anymore posts making comments about the hiring of the new AD/Coach at Lumberton will need to be factual in regards to the hiring process. One can still voice their opinion on if it's a good hire or not and if a coach is worthy. But make sure you posts accurate info in regards to the hiring.

    Thank you

One chance you couldn't be further from the truth. The football team was vastly improved last year and has several returning starters at key positions. The rest of your guestimates are just as far fetched too btw. The kids are literally praying the board promotes coach Payne to preserve some consistency plus they love him. In my opinion, if you bring in Babin or anyone with a non-pro style offense, you will do a disservice to some of the key skill position players....possibly lose a few of them.

I agree with this! The offseason was going well. Nate is doing a great job with them. It is about consistency. There was a fire back in the boys and it showed in the weight room. Starting to see improvement and now this. Haven't seen that in a while. The boys do love this coaching staff and Paine. Now its a wait and see process. I know my son is disappointed! The look on his face when he came home and told us what Haynes told them Wednesday.

I disagree 100% on that high school coaches don't "rebuild" programs. You do not rebuild from outside involvement (recruit). You rebuild from the inside.

You have to get kids excited about playing football. That is the hardest part with a school that wins 2-3 games a year. It's tough to get kids motivated to give up their blood, sweat, and tears if they feel like they will lose. No one wants to be labeled a "loser" by their peers. Trust me, the hardest part about being on a campus with a losing team is having to hear the things their classmates say to them. Those kids that do NOTHING for their school are quick to run them down and criticize their efforts.

If a coach can come in and get kids to "buy in" to his program and "rebuild" the program mentally. That is 2/3 of the battle. The other 1/3 is coaching.

As far as Lumberton and Coach Haynes. His teams always played hard against GCM. It was simply a numbers game. It's tough to have kids, especially linemen, play both ways at the 5A level. I think he is a good coach and will be coaching somewhere else soon.
