  1. It seems strange that he resigned before the end of the season.
  2. LOL.. it is in the Gulf. I never said we were in the lake. You said that I must be in the Gulf and I never answered. My biggest in the lake is 15 pound range. I have caught them on bass rods and light line. ;D
  3. Well, you are a better fisherman than me if you can take a 30-40 pound red on 12 pound line in 5 minutes.
  4. I don't think Vidor has a bad team but help me understand the logic. To make sure I understand it, Vidor is not bad because LCM lost 7 in a row?
  5. They have zones. Between their under performing schools and magnet schools, you can usually find a way to go where you want. That is why the last couple of years the local news has done stories on parents camping out at the school admin building to get their kids first in line for the different schools. Once that capacity is reached at each school however, then no more transfers can take place.
  6. That's the whole point Lucky. Go back and read the post. I think they survived because "we fight then with heavier line" and bring them in faster. I wasn't bragging about being able to catch a redfish on 40 lb line. I can catch one on 6 pound line but after I play the redfish for an hour, I can just about assure its death.
  7. The bass should be starting to spawn pretty soon. Like maybe 4:00pm tomorrow.
  8. But how much do those skinny croakers weigh.. about 10 ounces for a big one?
  9. Whiting? Those are like for bait right?
  10. I am assuming that Stump will have passing as a vital part of his program. If that is what he is heading for, there is no need to wait. We might see a pass on his team's first official play on offense. Might as well air it out early.
  11. I understand the point but we see deer all the time during the season on our lease near Colmesneil. I hunt fairly thick woods much of the time with very limited visibility and almost always see deer during the season. Then again, we don't shoot everytime we see fur.
  12. A lot of times we unhook them without ever lifting them out of the water. We always scrimp or file down the barb and use a barbless hook.
  13. I don't know that I have ever seen one that I caught actually turn belly up on me. We fight them with heavier line, maybe 40 pound, and bring them in before too long. They still put up a fight but it doesn't last a long time. We keep them moving back and forth in the water until they revive.
  14. So give Kingofthadiamond the gps coordinates so he can come over.
  15. Yeah, that is bad.
  16. You've got to have a good coach to compete. You've got to have good talent to go deep.
  17. May Chris Stump have the success at BC as his brother has at WB.
  18. I am sure that it helps a lot with the results but it sure is a lot of work in the mean time. :-\ Wow.
  19. So Bickham got more experience and is now more qualified to do something that he wasn't a few years ago. Nothing strange about that.
  20. No kidding. I make for me what is a chance in a lifetime hunt, go to within 25 miles of the Mexican border.... and get snowed on. Go figure.
  21. I didn't vote since I don't duck hunt anymore. It seemed like almost a religion a few years ago but I have moved on. I was looking at that best ever option. I don't know that a perfect hunt now would ever qualify as the best ever. There were too many times in the mid to late 70's (maybe early 80's) where two friends and I would kill 30 birds in short order in consecutive trips. I doubt that we will ever see those days again.
  22. I voted worse than last year because in number of kills, it was not as good. I think that maybe it was one of the more fun seasons that I had. I just didn't get a chance to go out as much due to a change in my work schedule. Kills were down but it was fun and interesting... especially the snow in south Texas.
  23. Zote is better. It has a higher tallow/fat/lard content and is a lot softer and more pliable. It is not brittle so it tends to stay on a hook more and the extra fat draws them in better.
  24. I don't really care who gets the BC job and don't have a dog in the hunt. But.. if they eliminated Matthews simple as a payback, that is crazy. That is like saying that maybe he was the guy for the job but we are going to show him. Who loses out on that kind of deal, the coach or the team that needed him? If they wanted to eliminate someone due to the person not being the right guy at the right time, great. If they do it in spite, that will only hurt the school that did it, not the coach. Now I hope that the BC hires the right guy for their team.
  25. Ever try to use Zote Soap for bait? It doesn't seem to work well with Ops but it can bring in some good channel and a few blue cats.
