Cook up a big batch of french fried and then get a big bowl of potato salad or cole slaw. They get one of those big cajun cookers and get about a gallon of oil real hot, maybe 350-400 degrees. Peanut oil works the best. Cut the mackerel into 1/4" by 2" strips and salt and pepper it real well on both sides. The roll it in flour,, not corn meal, just flour. Toss the strips into the hot grease for a short time, until they float. Then remove them and drain well. Then throw away the mackerel because it will not be edible but eat the fries and salad/slaw so the whole day won't be a waste.

Your teams biggest rival and what created the rivalry?

How many years have Jasper and Silsbee been playing? -
It is easy to catch a lot of them and they are closer inshore which makes for an interesting tournament. I used to go down by Corpus Christi and fish and people would fish for them in bass boats a short distance offshore. I got second place once down there in the Port Aransas Deep Sea Roundup on a big Spanish Mackeral. I was fishing for kings but hooked up the smaller mackeral. You can usually pick them and kings up near the first or second grass lines. I think this year will be the 73rd year for the Deep Sea Roundup. I would guess that it is the oldest fishing tournament on the coast.

What I am shocked about is that Coop didn't post these pics. I think bronco1 is moving in on his territory. ;D I am not sure to make anything of it or not but I noticed that this transexual deer is from Arkansas.

Kings make a couple of good runs and they can sure strip some line fast. They seem to wear out fairly quickly after a couple of fast runs. They don't nearly keep up with the fight like an amberjack or tuna. It is the same with Spanish Mackeral. On light line they are great fun but they are hardly great fighting fish. Take some 6 or 8 pound test on a spinning rod and it is fun to listen to your line hiss through the water. They don't fight for long but they sure run fast.

She was busy looking for fingernail files, nail clippers and baby food jars with liquid in them.

And if you criticize her music, she can stomp a hole in you. ;D

He would look like a drowned chihuahua.

I can bench 150 pounds twice. Does that count as 300?

Or that he didn't wear a uniform...

Nah... I think I will leave it right here, where it belongs.

No way! If I shoot a rattlesnake I am not going to waste the meat by giving it to someone else. By the way, there were no rattlesnakes out last week in the snow. Hmmmmm......
-
Y'all are just lucky that I didn't wash my car. That is better than an Indian rain dance.
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah! Marinated, seasoned, battered, fried and then slathered in sauce. Just as well had a piece of horse meat. Anyway, where's the proof? I didn't get invited to sample the offering. By the way, if you have any tenderloins left that need cooking, I can run over you way and pick them up. If that big 6 point would have stood still for about another 30 seconds the last morning of my hunt, I would have culled him for the ranch and had my own tenderloins... and backstrap, roast, sausage......... Gringo, did you get my PM? I hope to be making another trip down there in late October or mid-November.

So that is the longest playoff drought?

Well, maybe not on the field but surely on setxsports.com...... -
Congratulations on a great deal for Mosley. Good luck at UNT. Micah is a great pass receiver also and should do really well under Todd Dodge's system.

Yep, tying flies is fun. I have some flies that are about 6 inches long. Contrary to some people's beliefs, flies can be huge and there are flyrods that can handle 300+ pound fish.

Stowers might have done the best job of coaching in the district. I was commenting/joking about BISD's inability to keep coaches and the superintendent's huge salary. Anyone smart enough to earn $300,000+ a year as a superintendent must surely be able to figure out how to hang on to coaches. ;D (DISCLAIMER: The preceding message is a sarcastic comment and not intended in any way to demean, castigate or otherwise chastise Coach Stowers and the excellent job that he has done)
-
If I met him, I would. I think the exodus of coaches must say something about the district. But hey, with a superintendant that makes over a quarter of a million dollars a years, I am sure he can get it straightened out.
-
BISD seems like they have a heck of a time trying to keep coaches. They either lose (or don't win fast enough) and get run off or they win and use that for a springboard to another job.

You ever flyfish?
-
Whitetails will get big everywhere if people would just let them grow. East Texas is notorious for the old saying "if it's brown, it's down". Any deer over 6 weeks old in east Texas is taking a serious risk of being shot if it ever steps out into the open.

I would like to go to the Florida Keys and fish the flats for almost anything. On a flyrod would be better but conventional tackle would work also.
