Nederland needs to show some improvement in stopping the run. They also need a more aggressive pass rush. I think a better pass rush would shut down a lot of the other team's options. Nederland seems to be able to stop most runs up the middle. The offense needs a lot of improvement. Some of it is with the inexperience in the line but a lot is with the young quarterback. I think he has shown a very strong arm and accurate. He can do it on the run. He needs to work on technique in getting more planted when he can and he needs to do a better job in spotting downfield receivers. I think it is just inexperience and nothing more. He certainly has as good of skills as any of the Nederland quarterbacks of late. The good signs are that even with their problems, they have beaten two good teams. They should have beaten Forest Brook by a few touchdowns and did so. No surprise there but they lived up to expectations in starting a sophmore quarterback in his first start. I think much improvement is going to be needed between now and the time district starts if Nederland is going to challenge for a playoff spot but I think it can happen.

Theft of copper is becoming an epidemic due to the cost of copper scrap. People are actually cutting the coils out of air conditioners while they are running in people's homes and in businesses. Due to the recent surge in thefts, a new Texas law on September 1st makes it a felony to steal any amount of copper, bronze or aluminum wire. If a person gets caught stealing a one foot piece of copper wire worth about 25 cents, it can cost him up to two years in jail.

That's why they are overrunning Texas. It is hard to spot the darn things and they move through the woods like a herd of elephants, destroying everything in their path.

I think a hog would be too shrewd to be trapped by a gator anyway. They are harder than deer to hunt and are more cunning and wary.

A lot of people bait hog traps with soured corn or something similar. That probably drew the gator to the trap.

Swallowed him like a chicken McNugget. ;D If you are serious, no. Gators don't eat like that by consuming whole animals like snakes. Gators like to rip chunks of flesh of of their meal, preferably after it has been rotting for a couple of days and builds up quit a stench.

I'll have to add that to the memory banks. Don't put hog traps next to the water. Fortunately, most people put them a bit farther inland.

I would think that most gators don't wander that far away from the water to get into most hog traps. I would hate to be walking through the woods in the dark heading toward my deer stand and come upon that.

Any news service that is spending time telling about people not in trouble will go out of business. What do you want them to say, "In today's news, Limas Sweed showed up in class today and did not get busted with dope"? Of course, at UT, maybe that is a big news story.

I saw them hard at it this afternoon. I don't know how much of it they got back but I think the electronics is still working.

Too bad it is two days to the games. Now it only matters whether the weather will hold to see if Nederland will reign or will it rain.

Well if Vidor doesn't beat Jones like a drum, they won't have much of a chance. Jones has managed 179 total yards of offense in two games and averaging 1.3 yards per carry on the ground. Vidor playing Jones is roughly the equivalent of Nederland playing Forest Brook last week.

I don't know. I saw Ozen go to the playoffs a couple of years with some real ugly uniforms.

I don't think Nederland has the team to win district this year. Hopefully they will challenge for a playoff spot.

Facts like that mean nothing. Records are broken all the time. Maybe this is LCM's year. If CC went three games deep in the playoffs and returned 15 players then it seems LCM's did okay for what is nothing more than a practice game.
