How far do you think they should drop after losing to the #2 team by a field goal?

For Marsh, 188 yards and 5 touchdowns is hard to beat. There are a lot of good yardage games posted by other players but Marsh is equal in yardage and had the huge touchdown display.

What was the score? I think that being 3-1 and losing to the second ranked team in the state is not that bad. I can see a tenth place spot for that, assuming that it was a decent game.

That seems true but it is likely true with most teams, especially the ones on the lower end of the rankings. Most teams don't go undefeated and the polls are always changing for a reason. Someone will lose and move down, someone will win and move up.

We went two games deep in the playoffs last year and we probably would not have been in the top 50. Everyone would like to be well thought of but I will trade polls for wins any day. If Nederland wins this week against a tough Central team and they do not make the top 10, you won't hear me crying because a team that is 3-2 is ranked ahead of us. I will take the win and the other team can take the ranking.

If Nederland could beat Central, then they will get a lot of consideration. It will still take someone above them losing.

Dayton is almost in the same boat as Lumberton. Both are playing teams that they should beat. The only difference is that if they lose, Lumberton will lose all of the momentum and some respect that they have built up and Dayton the will go from district favorite to a candidate for the door mat. It is time for both to step up and make some noise.

I've already taken care of a couple of them.

Lumberton will not erase 40+ years of futility with a single district win by one point. A few Lumberton fans apparently think that a single win should have them ready to be crowned the district champion. Maybe it will happen, just don't think everyone is ready to jump on the Lumberton bandwagon after a single district win on an extra point. Keep on winning and the fans from other schools will start worrying about Lumberton on their schedule. Until them, keep those crying towels handy.

The article says that he has a previous conviction for assaulting his wife. It also says that he was arrested this time on an Unlawful Carrying Weapon charge. If that is true, he may be looking at a few years in the federal penitentiary for illegal possession of a firearms by a person convicted of domestic violence. That may be in additon to any state charges that may be filed. I think Lucky's luck may have run out.

Until someone knocks them off in district, I will think that WO-S is favored. I also think that Kirbyville has a decent chance to pull it off but I think WO-S pulls it out.

Tell me it isn't so. Players changing schools in Beaumont by which team they think will be better?

Vidor's offensive line needs to step it up. Their quarterback and running back (#40... is it Pillsbury?) did fine but just didn't have a lot of room or time to work with. If they can get some good blocking against Lumberton, Vidor can stay in the game.

If the numbers on Marsh are correct I think it is tough to beat him for offensive player of the week. What a great game.

Pointless? Yep, unless you are playing in the BCS, polls are pointless. Consistency in a sports forum? LOL.. right. Read any number of threads on these boards and see the consistency and realistic rationale of arguments.

Why? It's SETX's board, they can run it and vote for who they wish. It is not an excersize in democracy, it is a sports opinion board. Disagree to your heart's content, it makes for great conversation.

Last year was a great run for Nederland. I think it is some kind of combination of coaching and the kids not giving up (which also may be coaching to keep them focused). To start out 1-4 and 0-2 in this district only to go two games deep is a great feat.

I could believe that at the moment Nederland is doing better within their district/division. I don't think that Nederland beats WB head to head however. But, as with all polls, it is an opinion. There is no need to justify anything.
