This 4A district might not make a serious run for the state title but LM doesn't play in both divisions. Also, do you think that LM is the only team to make adjustments? What a sensational discovery by the LM coaching staff, a team can make adjustments during the year. I need to call some of the coaches in this area and let them in on the secret. Thanks.

I think that is what WOS87 said. Those were not his feelings on how good the teams may be but purely statistics. Like you said, they are interesting numbers. Everyone knows however that you can't compare records of who you play and you can't compare scores. Teams in these types of statistics basically get punished because their opponents had lousy records.

What rule is that? I am not saying that it is not correct but if fumbling is all that it takes to advance a ball, then a person that signals for a fair catch but sees that he now has a lot of room to run, can simply "drop" the ball to the ground making it a fumble, then pick it back up and run with it. That would supposedly nullify the fair catch signal.

I haven't looked at the rules lately but the old rule is that a muffed punt cannot be returned, only recovered. That is not the same if the receiver establishes control over the ball and loses it, making it a fumble.

In either case, you will be repeating one school from last week. Both Nederland and Central were the big school so it would not like giving preference to a school two weeks in a row. Either way we pick, that will happen. MCM is always a big draw no matter what. In this case, the winner is guaranteed first place going into the fourth week of the district and maybe (if Central wins), the winner will be alone in first place. I don't see how you can beat a MCM where both teams are undefeated in district and the winner is guaranteed first place going into the 7th week of the season.

I would be shocked if Central was not a playoff team.

That makes sense though. Once the muffed punt was recovered, the play is dead since the receiver cannot advance it. When the Ozen receiver got the ball in his hands at the 2 yard line, the play was dead. Had he picked it up at the 2 yard line and run it back for a 98 yard touchdown, the Dayton fans would have wanted the fair catch enforced.

Nederland started 0-2 in district last year only to make the playoffs. The pivotal game being the comeback against LC-M. There is still time for LC-M to make a run. A cat may have 9 lives but LC-M has three and two of them are already used up.
