  1. Silsbee defeated Ozen in a very close 2-0 not 3-0, and I believe they will play a full match in the next week or so. Also; I don't think Ozen has beaten Silsbee in the last 3 years but it was a very exciting 2 games looking forward to the full match. The REALLY good hitter who plays all around is Ozen's track & field All-American A'Lexus Brannon.
  2. Congrats to Beaumont Ozen's A'Lexus Brannon for being nominated and selected to the TxRunning.com All Decade Texas Girl's Jump Team. This is an awesome accomplishment based on her performances during her 3 year High School career. The list consist of 5 young ladies from the state of Texas over the last ten years. Inika McPherson(California Golden Bears, Port Arthur Memorial HS), Destinee Hooker(Univ. of Texas ,San Antonio Southwest HS), A'Lexus Brannon(Beaumont Ozen HS), Ychlindria Spears(Univ. of Texas, Luling HS), and Erica McClain(Stanford, Plano East HS). For more information go to www.TxRunning.com
  3. A'Lexus only took two jumps in the prelims to place 5th according to the stat sheet. She passed on all of her other attempts. She will run the 100m hurdle prelims on Saturday. Her sister Dominique Brannon placed 8th in the Youth Girl's High Jump. Hayden Reed placed 7th overall in the Intermediate Boy's Discus Throw. Congrats to all!!! To all the Golden Triangle participants; being at USATF Nationals is a great accomplishment and the exposure an athlete receives at Nationals is the reason why so many athletes nationwide attempt to qualify. Nationals is a HUMONGOUS track meet. Top 8 finalists receive a National Medal and a big Olympic style ceremony to receive that medal. To be a finalist puts a name with a face. College recruits are everywhere and that's what it is all about, "getting to the next level!"
  4. July 30,2009 A'Lexus Brannon wins the Young Women's Long Jump at USATF's Nationals being held at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina. A'Lexus jumped 19ft 10 and 1/4 inches on her first jump to take the victory. This is her third National Championship in the last three years. 2007 Intermediate Girl's Long Jump National Champion, 2008 Intermediate Girl's 100m Hurdles National Champion, and now 2009 Young Women's Long Jump National Champion. Congrats A'Lexus keep up the hard work and the good work!!! There are several local athletes participating at JO's this year and the Golden Triangle is represented well. Good Luck to ALL!!!
  5. A'Lexus was one of two(Ashton Purvis, Calif 100m,200m) athletes on the Womens USA team that had multiple events at the 09 World Youth Championships; an awesome accomplishment! Didn't qualify for finals in the triple jump but the only way to not qualify for any event at World Championships is to be at the World Championships; so... Congratulations to this fine young lady who went abroad and represented the Golden Triangle, Texas, and the nation with the utmost integrity and sportsmanship. 8th in the long jump in the world....Awesome!!!!
  6. Ozen's A'Lexus Brannon has been selected to represent the USA after qualifying at the World Youth Games held in Ypsilanti, Michigan June 30-July 1, 2009. A'Lexus placed 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 19 ft 7 inches. She placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 41 ft 1 inch. She placed 4th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.82 seconds which is a personal record. She will represent the USA in both jumping events. A member of the Port Arthur Track Club A'Lexus is the 3rd athlete from Port Arthur to represent at the World Youth Games Jamaal Charles(110 hurdles) and Ineka McPherson(high jump) are the other two athletes. The 2009 World Youth Games will be held in Bressanone, Italy July 8-12, 2009. She will then come back and perform at USATF Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina July 25-August 1, 2009.
  7. A'Lexus Brannon is currently attempting to qualify for the 2009 World Youth Team in Ypsilanti, Michigan on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. She is competing in three individual events LJ, TJ, and 100m hurdles. If she qualifies she will be representing the USA in Bressanone, Italy July 8-12, 2009.
  8. A'lexus is the premiere combination jumper(long jump, triple jump) in the nation; the closest female jumper in the nation is out of California; the only other jumper is a young lady from China 21"1", and a young lady from Russia 21 even. In the triple jump there are two young ladies who are dominant on the international level; a young lady from Cuba 45 ft. and a young lady from the Czech Republic 44ft. A'Lexus's competition is international. Chastity Foster is a very good jumper but has not reached the level of A'Lexus Brannon!!!A'Lexus PR's are LJ 21"1" and TJ 42 ft. even, a consistent jumper she is also ranked #4 internationally and #2 nationally in the 100 meter hurdles girl's aged 18 and under. This is why she is considered a top candidate for the US Youth World Team and is going to represent the USA in Bressanone, Italy in July 09.
  9. Sisters, Ranysha ran track at LSU and Rashante Leblanc played basketball for the Tigers. Both of these young ladies made their parent's and the City of Port Arthur proud.(1st cousins to J. Charles..UT...KC Chiefs)
  10. Putting A'Lexus Brannon's name against the Babe is pretty awesome. AggiesAreWe just relax remember to my knowledge she has not chosen a college yet ; I bet ya'll would love to have her in College Station!!!
  11. A'Lexus is a jumper before anything else; if you want to see her the long jump will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the triple jump at 2:00 p.m., and the 100m hurdles around 5:30 p.m. on June 5th. It's going to be a long day for her.
  12. Not on the 3a level but long enough to know from experience Tigersvoice, don't take it personal just some advice for the future so you'll know the next time you get an elite athlete!!!(the key word is elite they don't come around very often)
  13. Saw news report on Ch. 12 about Chastity Foster. It's a shame that such a talented jumper was injured running a relay at regionals. Coaches when you have an elite athlete in the field events you must be very careful how you utilize them on the track!! Key word is elite she is not just good she is an elite jumper. Good Luck with rehab and hopefully she can recover in time for state.(Hamstring)
  14. A'Lexus Brannon(3Peat) is the THREE TIME Regional Champion in the Long Jump 07, 08, 09 and the THREE TIME Regional Champion in the Triple Jump 07,08,09 and the THREE TIME Regional Champion in the 100 meter hurdles 07, 08, 09. The Beaumont Enterprise had her as a two time Regional Champion. She has a total of 15 District Gold Medals, 9 Regional Gold Medals, and 3 State Gold Medals. She is a Junior who has set regional records in the long jump and triple jumps the past two seasons and set a new regional record in the 100m hurdles. Awesome talent who is going to the State Track Meet for the 3rd straight year to represent for Beaumont Ozen!!!
  15. Congrats to all!!! We must not let our childen be used or abused by coaches with hidden agendas!!!!
  16. From my understanding TABC chooses their picks for All-Region and All-State prior to the season. The coach nominates players but has to be a member of TABC prior to the specific sport to nominate players. This means it has nothing to do with players or stats just who the coach thinks(prior to the season) is applicable!!
  17. Brannon has 3 4A state GOLD Medals!!! Can't compare apples to oranges(she is a junior). This young man will have plenty of opportunities to convince the public of his talents but as far as I know Brannon was not trying to compete against any of the boys so I would say since Brannon has the Golds: "Brannon and Franks upstage the field at the 09 YMBL!"
  18. Saw her perform Saturday at the YMBL. Out of track shape and dealing with an injury; can't wait to see her perform healthy and in shape. Heard it was her first time on the track this season. Expect great performances from her this season.
  19. 20-4A District MVP can be ejected from a game for punching an opponent from PNG. What's up with that?
  20. Obviously Jr1979 you are not that aware of what a good female b-ball player is and what you are trying to say about A'Lexus Brannon is totally unwarranted and totally false. You say you have seen her play numerous times if that is the case you can't say that she is not a good b-ball player . Answer me this, why would college programs be interested in her for b-ball if she was not a good player? It seems to me she must have done one of your relatives pretty bad for you to think that but you are entitled to your own opinion. She has been playing varsity b-ball at Ozen for three years, varsity volleyball for three years, and will be running varsity track for her third straight year, she is only a Jr.. She will be going to a major university to pursue a college degree and her parents will not have to pay for it and that is the BOTTOM LINE!
  21. Ozens Brannon spends 3 to 4 months playing basketball and volleyball and she spends 6 to 7 months at track and field where she is an All-American in 3 events(is being recruited by over 50 D1's). If she put 7 ,months into basketball or year round like alot of the girl's in our area she would probably be an All-American in B-Ball also but she cannot do everything. She plays b-ball because she enjoys the game and she wants to be an asset to Ozens program but she is well aware of her future in track & field! Looking at the talent in our area I have not seen a girl her size that can play the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 but has to play 4, 5 to help her team, and I know the universities/colleges that are recruiting her for B-Ball want her to play in the backcourt (they say she has a tremendous upside and they understand why she plays limited b-ball/injury factor). She is dedicated to track, maybe now you can understand why she doesn't work at it more. I guarantee you that many major D1's are wanting her for a full ride in track she is even being recruited by D1's for volleyball and b-ball(even with limited exposure) and you've never seen her play softball, tennis, or golf and it would be the same scenario she is an all around student athlete!!! When it comes to games just throw out the ball and she's there.
  22. The article focuses on a 5A senior girl running the 100m hurdles in 16.99 and the 300 hurdles in 49 seconds. I know its early in the season but those times are not impressive!
  23. How did Ozen cheat. Ozens #1 player did not play due to injury.
  24. I've heard it said from track enthusiast all around the country and abroad that; "Track is the only true sport, everything else is just a game!" A'Lexus Brannon was recently named a top US contender for the Youth World Championships(ages 18 and under) to be held in Bressanone, Italy July 8th thru the 15th , 2009.(Dyestat.com) A'Lexus is currently world ranked in three events #2 Long Jump, #3 100m Hurdles, and #7 Triple Jump. Qualifying for the USA Youth World Team will be held in Ypsilanti, Michigan June 30th thru July 1st , 2009 at Eastern Michigan University. The top 2 performers will make the team and represent the USA. She has ran summer track since she was 9 years old.
  25. During that weekend at that particular tournament at that time the two teams playing the best ball made it to the championship and HJ was not in the championship! Not saying who is the better team but that weekend the two teams in the championship game beat their opponents to get there and they were the best and are the two best teams in Southeast Texas. Central Lady Jaguars and the Ozen Lady Panthers!
