Of course the level of a rivalry is only measured by our opinions, but let me throw one more added opinion in the fire.  Odessa, and Midland each have two (2) 5-A high schools each. So seeing how they split their loyalty between two high schools it waters things down as far as the total community is concerned.  On the other hand Nederland, has but one High School, and PN-G but one High School, their can only be Bulldogs and their can only be Indians therefore the ENTIRE communities of each school live and breathe this game, and to top it off, the late and great Bum Phillips presides over this game from his pressbox in the sky. I'm 64 ( a Bulldog) and this year will be the 55th year  for me to watch the greatest High School Rivalry in Texas or the Nation.

Knoddy1 got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in WILL BISD/ADMIN. INDEFINITELY KEEP OZEN ON HOLD
I kind of doubt he had time to move to Beaumont. and if he does sue BISD how much do you think he would sue for, he did'nt sign a contract, so salary was never agreed on, as least not in writing. My guess is they may pay hiim a token amount just for him to go away but it would'nt be anything like a years salary. The guy that decides whether the TEA takes over said he will take his time, I think thats wrong, it's the kids time he is taking and they've had enough taken from them already.

Bulldogs / Indians, Dave Campbells magazine ranked us No. 3 in the State, I think they ranked Odessa Permian / Midland No. 1.  But those two schools are a long way off from each other, here in Ned and Port Neches/Groves we face each other every day of our lives, you lose this game and you gotta face the music from the other fans all year long.  When you're on the winning end nothing is finer, lose and it is close to someone dying in your family (NO JOKE)  The atomosphere at a Ned/PN/G game is like no other and those who would argue otherwise all I can say " it's a Bulldog/Indian thing you just would'nt understand."
This comment was brought to you by the No. 1 rivalry in Texas, and since no other state measures up to Texas I guess we're No. 1 in the Nation.

The media only reported a mess that was created by the (BISD) Superintenent and school board.(very poor background checking)  If they had not reported it then the mess would still be there only no one would know about it and the citizens of BISD would have a Head Coach that could possibly be preying on your children. Now I would think that the ones of you that seem more concerned about the slanted media being at fault here should thank them for doing the job that your Superintendent and school board did not do.

So who has the better program? Ned or Ozen?  Why don't we change the names to Team ball and individual ball. The coaches, players, students and fans all expect to see the dogs win on Friday nights. Washington and Malveaux got scholarships this year and Colton could have, but that would be to their credit for achieving it. It would sure be unfair to the other 43 players on the team if they thought they were busting their tails just to earn scholarships for a few and not the glory of winning for their school and community. So for the critics of the way we do things in Nederland....it's a TEAM THING...you wouldn't understand.

Just because we didn't produce a ton of college recruits isn't a problem, it is a credit to the coaches to produce teams that takes down other schools who are loaded with recruited players.   some of you may remember a good number of years ago Bridge City had about 16 kids sign scholarships, yet they didn't make the playoffs. Colton Kimler did say he was giving up football and focusing on Academics, I think Colton has a bright future ahead of him, he's a smart kid. Their is no shame in not getting a scholarship, it just so happens a lot of times our bulldogs are not as big or as fast as others, but their hearts are bigger than they are and that's why we excel as a team.

04 Is right Big Ned's cupboard is not bare and a lot of underclassmen have gotten a lot of playing time both regular season and in the playoffs, Freshmen team and the JV teams were pretty good and should help fill the holes left from graduation. District championship will have to earned, I look for Larry Neumann to have the dogs in position to have something to say about it.
