Dogs have had some really tough breaks for our pre-season.  Neumann gets the DOGS fired up and ready to go!  Dogs will come home with a win to start District play.

Well....I definitely have been scratching my head too over the pre-season performance.  I see good things and of course I see the bad things.  One thing I have 100 % confidence in is our coaching staff.  This year's group are giving the staff some big challenges and I know they will get it figured out.  We still have time and the bye-week will only help us right now to straighten some things out and do some healing up from injuries.  As mentioned above, we do get better as the season goes.....I know our pack of DOGS are going to come out fighting against Vidor because they are sniffing for a win.  I definitely have not written these boys off because they will be proving themselves in the games to come and I know we will be surprised by the turn around.  I can't wait and am looking forward to district starting.  I back our DOGS win or lose .... they deserve the support!

It happens biaplayer! all teams go through it. kinda like what you guys have been suffering through for the past 4 years of losing to us! keep your head up across the tracks!pre-season is what it is, pre-season. the real deal starts in two! Nederland always has a change or two when district starts. This year will be no different.

I think the potential is there for our team, but some of the stats that are being boasted are actually not that impressive once under the microscope. We did play a good game against Crosby minus the 3rd quarter and faced some adversity when Seay cramped. I was proud of what I saw that night. Crosby is the only legit team we have played so far. I keep hearing "over 400 yards vs. Dayton." Well, their other 2 opponents have gone for over 600 each against them and scored in the 60's, we had 22 which is only 2 more points than we had penalties. Clear Lake had a couple freakishly talented kids, but as a whole their team looked like an unorganized mess in my opinion. We could only muster 13 points on them and left 20 points on the field in just the first half alone. That was an embarrassing loss, probably the weakest team to beat us in as long as I can remember. We have to shore up our tackling, the penalties, and finish off drives. Period. Otherwise, we will be LUCKY to get 4th in district. It's gut check time. This team can go one of two directions, either rise above the adversity or mail it in. I'm betting on Neumann and his staff to do some tweaking in the next two weeks and some motivating and hopefully see a great improvement to open district against a Vidor team that is always amped when the Bulldogs come to town. Every game from here on out will be a dogfight. Nobody cares what we've done the last 3 years. It's now or never. I really want to see this team improve. I know that we can with the right attitude. Go Dogs!

YES we are down, but DARN sure not OUT. Right now is a test of WILL & FAITH. WILL to get better, FAITH in each other. Things in LIFE isn't always easy, people may talk about you even start to doubt you. People may even give up, it dont matter as long as you don't give up on yourself. WE ARE DOGS-locked together in battle, and in BATTLE their are obstacles, ups and down. In BATTLE tho we fight until the end, brother with brother. Believe in each other, have deaf ears to the can't of the world. I believe in NEDERLAND BULLDOGS WIN OR LOSE. In life I have learned that its easy to quit, but I won't let y'all. Time to remember who you are and who we always been- "WE ARE NEDERLAND BULLDOGS"

Sounds like a pretty mature response he gave you there, dad and something to be proud of...talking about kids in a negative way on here is pretty dumb IMO...people forget that they are in fact, just that, kids...learn, move on, and keep playing hard, young man...this Dog fan is pulling for you and all of the Bulldogs...go get yourselves a "W" this Friday!

I think the DOGS get things straightened out this week and get a win against Clear Lake.

Well I can say this....I believe in our coaching staff and boys and the problems from Friday will be addressed and corrected.  I think our Bulldogs will have a better game against Clear Lake Friday.

Well, Memorial have been charging for parking for years... I don't mind 1 dollar... EXCEPT.... This will cause a problem with traffic. Right now, The Butch already has several ways in. Now, to make sure everyone pays, the entrances will be restricted. I'm thinking like 3 entrances will be accessable.. that'll cause horrible backed up traffic on both Fannett road and I-H 10 side...

We will know more today if Big Dog play or not, and on the locker room talk their room is so small they was moving stuff around to fit ham bone and brisket.

I agree Jake. Since when did success start getting measured by beating crosby. No one on the board knew much about them till the twins. Now they are the gold standard. Yeah they had and probably still.have some good athletes, but elite they are not. Even though they spanked us last year, I wouldn't trade with them. They will be an after thought on Saturday. Win or lose. It's crazy to see a team hang onto a win that long. Must be something about beating us that is different than beating crosby. We beat them and it is just that we beat am average team. They beat us and all of the sudden they are the measuring stick. See yall Friday. Go dogs

Ok.....I cant take it any more.....some of this argument is based STRONGLY off of personal opinion. I fear some opinions are rooted in something very ugly.....BUT.....moving forward I'll say this: as a former athlete who gave up sports for music and band (which earned me a scholarship btw) I think the argument about Central's band and Ozen for that matter is rooted in selfishness and the wrong kind of pride. The pride or arrogance that says conform to "our style" and "your style" will never be accepted or taken seriously. I've been truly blessed to be a part of both worlds(so to speak). In hs I marched in a well known school around here, and yes we made one's at uil because we focused on THAT competition and what it would take to be successful there. And it was fun and fulfilling.....but when I went to college....oh my.....I was introduced to a WHOLE new thing. The competition level was "turned up" 100 degrees. I was blessed to be a part of the "World Famed" Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band. No, we did not get invited to the band festivals or dci type competitions (which I love btw..lol), but we do have an extensive list of accomplishments. Try the FIRST Super Bowl halftime show (followed by about six more since then), nba, nfl, cfl, and arena football halftimes and games, presidential inaugurations here....and in other countries. When Clemson and Wake Forest played in the Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan a while back they left both their bands at home and invited Grambling to take BOTH their places.....why you ask? Because there was/is a need for SOMETHING DIFFERENT. U.I.L. is NOT the "all end" for marching bands. Sorry....Maybe for your school's band it is, but not everyone's. And that's ok if it is. Heck, the band kids appreciate the different styles of band more than some grown folks do. Now I'll say this....Central is loud. Some folks don't do loud.....some folks, particularly young ppl, only know loud. Soft, controlled, and tame won't cut it, especially at a football game. The Panthers and Jags and even Titans bands and other schools generate excitement for their fan base and even opposing schools fans as well.Appreciate the variety!!!! Our district is LOADED with it. That's a beautiful thing!! Now let's have a good year and encourage ALL of the kids participating. Trust me....they ALL put in a lot of work to bring to us all!!
