BigRed360, I said for people to continue to go to games they will have to continue recruiting from this area or recruit five star players. Everybody wants them going to the WAC and other mid major conferences, so LU will have to recruit better. Thats just my opinion and it's way different then yours. Figured you to be a yankee by your mouth. Sorry you get your feelings hurt when someone says thier opinion, but if if your going to sit thier and say that watching Lamar football this year was like watching college football your kidding yourself. I don't care how [roud you are of LU and your family track record. I just want to see LU drastically improve the football program to compete year in year out. I didn't expect them to be a top notch team the first year, but I was surprised at the lack of fundementals that I observed.
You'd be hard pressed to find a 5-star recruit on Boise or any other departing WACer

There aren't any FIVE STAR recruits going to any southland school you idiot!!!!  This shows your lack of knowledge right here!!!
There aren't many going to the remaining WAC members either

If Lamar stays FCS then they won't get many 3-star and above players unless they are transfers.  The only way they can start recruiting the better players is by joining the WAC.  The BCS teams will always get most of the 4 and 5 star players, but Lamar doesn't need those players to be successful in a non-BCS conference.

Staying FCS and recruiting mostly local players would solidify the image of Lamar as the "little local college of last resort."  I don't think that's a long term formula for success.  Dr. Simmons has been very successful in enhancing the academic standing of Lamar.  Now he needs to move Lamar to the WAC and enhance the athletic program as well.
You're not going to find many 3+-star players on the roster of what's left of the WAC and if Lamar goes FBS, it'll be harder to get non-jc transfers because they'll have to sit out a year.

Is the "Da Chosen One" himself?  ::)

If he signs with someone else, then so be it, that's just proof of his character, which has been steadily questioned by people that have played with him.
Let's hope this isn't the "Chosen One."  English Comp is a requirement for graduation and he'll have to get out of Developmental English to take Comp.

Don't see UT going independent.  In this day and time, it doesn't work like before.  Notre Dame is exhibit #1.  They will eventually join a confence.  The Big 12, or maybe UT should look to align with ND and then keep the really good schools in the Big 12 and then pick off a few SEC/Big Ten schools and form a newly revamped conference.  Say Keep UT/A&M/Oklahoma/OKie lite/Mizzou & KU under the Big 12 umbrella, then add ND and pick off say LSU/Alabama/Auburn/Arkansas (screw the Florida schools) from the SEC and also add OSU/Michigan/Michigan State from the big ten (oh poor Nebraska)and you have the premiere conference in the college football.  The the rest of the guys scramble to fill the open slots.
Why not add the Cowboys, Texans, Saints, and Patriots?

Lol haven't played well? Maybe... but you really think texas has?
Texas is known for it's paided off officials, especially in baseball.
That might be the understatement of the year!
True enough there is another possible explanation.  Those were Southland officials.

The Big 12 (-2) doesn't seem to have any good options to replace Colorado and Nebraska.  Arkansas left the old SWC for greener pastures ($$$) so I doubt they'd want to go back.  What other elite schools are out there that are not already in the SEC, Big 10 or PAC 10 that would fit in the Big 12?
Agree.  It's hard to imagine an elite school wanting to join a conference that splits money so unevenly.  Austin runs the conference and threatens to leave anytime anyone complains.

Woodard must want to put together the Golden Triangle All-Star team.
There is no early signing period in football.
Tell it to the first guy, I'm just stating Woodard's desire to form the first collegiate all-area team.
Why even mention him when the TOPIC is early signing?
Because Woodard is the head coach, and has a big say in who gets recruited. A recruiting coach merely finds the guys, it's up to the head coach to really get them to commit.
Just admit that you confused early signing with football commitments and get on to some other reason why you don't like Lamar

Lazeek didn't leave early tonight! It was an exciting and flashy game to watch.
...and 50 or so us stayed to hear the John Evans Band.  He played before about the same number of empty seats that football team did Saturday night.

The Southland down to 10 members, will they stay 10 or add members?
Lamar could rejoin Texas schools in the west if remain 10 members.

The Sunbelt down to 11 members...
CUSA might lose 1,2,3, maybe 4 members..
If it has 10 members they'll probably abandon divisional play

Next year is their first year... even though they have about 13 games in their back pocket heading into their game against Lamar...

Last year and this, they were unclassified. You guys are FCS Independent this year, South Alabama is NCAA unclassified. The win or loss counts in your W/L column, but it is kind of an odd situation of how they have handled this process...
Not sure why you're rambling on about classifications.  South Alabama is still undefeated no matter how they are classified.  They did beat Nicholls State 39-21 a few weeks ago in Mobile, which was their first game against a FCS school.  They haven't played any real road games yet.  Looking at their roster they do have a lot of juniors and seniors on the team, including some FBS transfers.  This should be a good game.
They,ve played one FCS school, two lower rank D2 schools and 2 NAIA schools this year.  Last year they played one D3 school and everybody else was either a JC or a prep school....but they are undefeated.

You better go to the game because you probably will miss most of the game on Fox 4.
Agree!  If their coverage is as bad as it was the first time you need to turn down the sound and listen on KLVI--they cover all of the plays.  The plays are covered as they happen (not with a delay) and the radio people have a spotter--tv coverage left you guessing about who made tackles.  Hopefully, they'll get better but right now the tv coverage is no competition.
  13. All the other recent start-ups seem to be playing mostly home games against non-D1 teams their first year.

and Georgia State lost to one of them.  Lambuth is an NAIA school making the transition to D2.  Bill Curry (he's 57-96 without the 3 years at Alabama) can really coach but at least I don't have to his constantly negative color commentary.
Many DII schools are better than the average FCS school. Ask UCA...
See looser academic restrictions...

Football is one of the few Div II sports where there's not much disparity as far as scholarships are concerned. In most other sports, the discrepancy is minimal and in the low-major levels, the budget disparity (if any) is not great...

I think Mississippi Valley State's current budget is No. 130 of the Div II schools. I'm sure most Div II schools fund their sports with more scholarships than that Div I school as well.
Valley is Division I.  The SWAC is the Sunbelt of FBS/I-AA
