  1. I agree w/ most of Hitman and the Patriot's post...........Except regarding #22, coach just missed this one. Along w/ another another kid I know pretty well. It happens...no one is perfect.

Hitman.....regarding "poor # 22" you are way off the mark.

Hitman, you aren't from Barbers Hill are you ?

maybe off the mark, and no i am not from there.... but i have seen barbers hill base ball for a long time and I cant see a coach at that level with that much success play the politic game...or overlook a kid.  if a coach does he usually does not have a winning record.  I personally don't know the kid, saw him last year but do not watch much JV games so i cant make that judgement.

I do know some coachs that will not support a kid based on attitude on and off the field... Bridge city 2 years ago wins district and does not get any MVPs in all district....the coach has to nominate you for that...

  2. I think it is funny how everyone blames the coaches... Coaches have more training, experience, and motivation than parents do in sports.....they went to school for it, attend seminars put on by professionals, and work long hours.... would you let a unskilled person come and run your department or run one of the plants???????? NO you wouldn't....I am not saying there are not bad coaches out there, just be understanding, there is probally a reason why he got the job in the first place..Varsity coaches are not there to receive a pay check, which is about $3000 for the headache parents put them threw....they are there for the kids.....................

as for the JV player that started the next year... maybe he did decide to pay attention to the coach and worked on his game and excelled in 1 year... it has happened before.... I know one kid who did not start his JR. year and was drafted his SR. year....and is now playing triple A at round rock... it had nothing to do with the coaches, he was just not ready. the coach is going to play who he feels gives him the best chance to win based on the starting pitcher for both teams, practice and attitude throughout the week....

Remember parents this is not little league, just because the kid might dominate at little league, does not mean he will at the varsity level...almost all kids grow in high school (really till they are 19) and develope to be better players...

my suggestion is to support your school, players and coaches......negativity only hurts the program.....If you can't live with the coaches decision......move you kid...

  3. IMO, that's a really boneheaded move on dads' part, what happens if the kid has a career ending injury very early in his career? Does he go to work for McDonalds? He certainly won't be prepared for anything else. What I see here is a parent trying to cash in as soon as possible on a kids talent. The boy needs to get an agent, not his dad, and a lawyer to protect him before things get out of control.

Baseball contracts are not like football or basketball contracts.  Almost all contracts state the club will pay for 6 semesters of ANY college of their choice. So signing early is not bad for the kids education.  10 million is a huge signing bonus..........take the money, go to school in the offsesason, and finish the college if things do not work out.  Dad is IMO did the right thing........
  4. Why did Huckaby leave coaching to begin with? Also, having been out of the business for a stretch, is he going to be able to bring in the coaches to fill all the spots for assistants in such a short window of time?

from the grapevine, His wife got SP job at Hull, He discussed it with his son, and they decided to follow. She has followed him everwhere and he felt he owed to do the same for her.

talk about a good guy.  takes a lot of guts to give up something you love for your wife.

Ya'll orangefield guys better hope he gets the job.

  5. you coaches that look over this board ,COME ON and ring that phone at orangefield.you know its not a sin to drop from 4A to 3A is it guys.if you relly love the game of football and think you can handel this job come on and do it for the kids there that are looking for a leader someone thay can pride in(IS IT YOU) time is running out fast now dont let these kids down, thay need a leader someone that takes pride in themself and put the kids (FIRST)

It has nothing to do with the kids. kids come first otherwise they would not be in the bussiness. coaches talk to other coaches about what is happening and I have heard many of coaches, that would make a tremendous difference, say they would not go to OF. Coaches, just like everyone else, want to work in a problem free area.  Coaching is a stressfull job (presure from the parents, school, community, long hours with little pay; some times comming to about .33 a hr) and adding more conflict to a already stressfull job is not a environment that anyone wants to be in.

    good luck in the hiring.....

If they are talking to the coach that just left Orangefield they are being mislead.  I would not let that guy coach a little league football team.  I know for a fact the guy lied about what was going on in the locker room, on the field and inside the program.  I am talking about the athletic program not just football.  I know him personally and he has never taken the blame for any problems inside his program.  It has always been someone else fault.  So if you are talking about parents and administrators wanting him gone, IMO they had good reason.  A coach coming in would have no problem winning over the community as long as he does the right things.

no, not just one... how many left this year anyway??
  6.                  Kirbyville all districts

                                         aaron hazlewood

    1st team 1st base             1st team 3rd base

    lenwood crawford              dustin escine

Congrats to all districts and the Kirbyville Wildcats on a winning season!!!

  8. I remember Huckaby when I was at HJ.  Great coach and a great guy also!!!!

true,he has learned from one of the best coaches to vist this area... Bruce Webb, now at Converse Judson..... is he going to commute or move?  Isen't his wife a principle at Hull? Also I think his son is a SR.?

If he has not changed his offence, OF will still be running the option and boot leg.

  9. What about Musgrove from Kirbyville???

......I dont think kirbyville has any help (the coaches dont help getting to the next level except in football and favorites..) getting to the next level...

ANY player that has ANY potential should not wait on ANYONE to promote them, you have to go get it, IMO its like a woman trying to get preg.....IF she don't expose herself its NOT gonna happen, with the internet today a player can findout most anything concerning tryouts, camps, ect.....IF you wait till your senior yr.>> you're LATE<<

    643, you are exactly right.

    Love the analogy  ;D

    musgrove is gonna play football

I hope he does play football... great player... as for baseball i think he is gonna walk on at Lamar...

  10. HJ vs SFA in 92.  all tied up with 2 min to go in the 4th. we were tied in penatrations and were killing them in yards. they squib kick, our SO drops the ball goes to pick it up and another SO runs into him. they recover on the 22 yard line. they get to the 19 and we sack them. LOSE by a 1 yard penatration and our playoff dreams smashed.

Who  was on that that HJ team hitman, because i remembered that game differently.

Who do you want??? QB- Esprit, RB -Sostan, Clark WB-Mckeller, Granger WR - Vaglica, Parrish, OL - Alvey, Barry, Petag.......Got the game tape in my truck!!! 19-19 tie!!! Sostan runs into Grogan on the kick off which SFA had to score to tie it up..if fact missed extra point by SFA that tied it.....then after they got the 1 yard penatration and after the sack, a blocked field goal by HJ. HJ recovers on the 26. Next play Esprit threw a interception (which was his 3rd on the night). Johnson takes one snap and fumbles but recovers then the Knee down to run the clock out>>>>Does that jog you guys memory any?????

hitman you sound kind of cocky in a loss, but anyway since you have the tape in your truck, you saw the ref bail ya'll out on the opening kickoff  in which i ran it back for a TD. H.J. really had no chance. You can thank the that ref for the game being so close. ;D ;) ;)

the block below the waist you are reffering to did happen, tell #7 you can't block below the waist on a kickoff. I was the one that it happened to on our side lines.  As for never having a chance........thats why SFA had to come back to TIE!!!!!! As for the refs, you are right the were bad but it was on both sides.  I do remember the clock that keeped running on a out of bounds run that it should of stoped while we were in the red zone just before half.....and ya'll ran off the field while the refs were talking!!!  Talk about some home cooking!!!!

I remember that game so vividly that I remember you (#23) high steping on the kick off TD that was called back, and stumbling when you kicked the ground in the End Zone. almost fell on your a$$ that would have been funny:D :D

as for the cockyness.....just stating the facts in my MOST PAINFUL LOSS :'( :'(

I also remember that game differently hitman, i do also remember burning your defense on and TE reverse for like 35 or 40 yards. I remember several catches over those corners.

Ha, Ha, .  No catches to my side!!!!!!!!! they did burn our safteys once on a TE streak when we were in cover 2.  And by the way, nice to show up to work finially!! I think I see more grey hair though... ;)

  13. quite funny how those almighty wildcats were supposed to dominate 2a and win state, but couldn't even make playoffs in a weak district. I tried to tell you it was just a few preseason upsets. i recall them once saying "Buna Who?". Gotta love the karma that bites you in the rear. Jasper is the cougar's home away from home, haven't lost a playoff game there yet. lets keep that streak goin boys! Buna packs the house in playoffs, better get there early!... ;)

how about karma now.......it does not feel good does it?

  14. Have u seen buna's bats they are loaded top to bottom. Last year they played a central heights team who had one of the best pitchers in the state and done very well. Shelbyville better worry about clark the kid is tough and a real gamer. Buna looks real tough and are poised for another big run go BIG BLUE.

       5A- Bellaire  (24-1) THSBCA #1

       4A- Ft. Worth Southwest  (21-1) THSBCA #8

3A- Spring Hill  (23-1)  THSBCA #2 (BC goes far)

2A- Rogers  (20-2)  THSBCA #2  (Buna will go far though)

1A- Carlisle  (22-0)  THSBCA #1  (Good Luck Evadale)

I don't know about Buna going far....Shelbyville with Estes on the mound is tough!!!!!! He brings it mid to high 80's, hard slider, 12-6 curve, split finger, change up, and knucke ball.  But all of those pitches is not the tough  thing about him to hit,....ALL OF THOSE PITCHES ARE FROM DIFFERENT ARM ANGLES!!!!!!

fastball (high, 3/4 and low) slider (ect.),.......tough to pick up

Now they have to play a 1 game next week, should be a good game (Clark vs Estes)

have see their bats many times this year and believe me...they are not that good....Any Pitching and they can't put the bat on the ball. It will be a defenseive game!!!

Hey hit man who did you play for to say that buna's bats are not good I don't know of any team in our district to throw a no hitter against us. I agree Estes is a good pitcher but not being able to hit him I don't know about that. But thank you now we realize that we can't hit estes so that mean we can't win so that means no pressure on us against a team that is far superior than us.I,m glad we didn't listen to how good Central Hieght pitcher was last year and couldn't be hit or we might of not made it so far.

you got one thing right!!!! I am up set about kirbyville not making playoffs!!!  But that is not the reason I said what I said.  Just look at past games where Buna had to face a little pitching.   0 runs off Bridgecity, 1 runs of HF, 4 run off the ace from East Chambers, 0 runs off Kirbyville (1 hitter) Monday night you will see a better pitcher than Hazlewood. Throws harder and has more pitches from different angles. He has held many teams to 0 runs. I know Buna could beat them in 3 games, they do have the better team, but it will be a close in one game agaist Estes.

I am rooting for you now my team is out, just don't think this will be a easy game for Buna like I'm reading, especially since you have played one game in almost a month. good luck to ya'll!!!
