  1. Wow, I knew it was bad, but not that bad. I hope it gets out of here quickly then and everyone is okay.
  2. That makes sense. The Flu is everywhere right now.
  3. Congrats LCM, you kept it close and EC is real strong this year.
  4. You're usually dead on, so Id tend to agree with your assessment. I can't speak on 5A because I am not familiar with those teams mentioned above. I would think HJ would handle HF pretty well from what I have seen in their recently reported scores. I would also think Livingston is way too strong for Liberty. Livingston looked really good in the Bill Tennison Tournament and I was disappointed that our paths didn't cross. Shepherd wasn't strong at all when we saw them, so I'd have to believe Tarkington would be better. In 3A where we cut our teeth, I full on agree with you that it is Orangefield and EC at the top and everyone else will be fighting for those last two Playoff spots. It is somewhat confusing that EC didn't beat LCM by more than they did. I would have expected at least a win by 20 or more even if they were letting off the gas. LCM isn't strong this year at all, or at least when we saw them, they weren't. As far as Buna goes, they struggled a lot with Jasper when I watched their first half, and we destroyed Jasper in a cake walk last night. If that is any indication of Buna's strength, then I'd think they wont be able to even keep it close against us or EC, however they may be better than the rest of the District and that third yet very distant spot from 1 & 2 will be theirs. Coach Joubert in Kountze will make improvements as their season goes, but I just don't think they have the talent to actually compete. I further agree with you that Hardin could be interesting to see since they had such a good football year, but they haven't been strong at all on the court in the years that I have seen them play. Kirbyville could be a sleeper for the 3rd & 4th Playoff spot. They have a decent guard who can shoot (only goes right though), but they havent had much more through these last four years. I am not looking forward to District Play for us in Orangefield, its tough to stay sharp and be ready for a playoff run when your playing in blowout games. Yeah, it gives everyone a chance to play, but builds a false sense of reality of what is out there waiting on you in your EC's, Onalaska's, Mexia's, etc. I wish we could play some bigger games at tournaments or something during District play to stay sharp, but I guess its a problem all strong teams deal with. Kountze definitely would have had to find ways to stay sharp last year. Either way, Im looking forward to the battles this season has and I look for Orangefield and EC to really make some noise in the Playoffs, until they have to match up with us, lol.
  5. Jaden Scales crossed the 2,000 Point Mark tonight, and Whitmire being the class act he is, called an immediate timeout and allowed the boys to rally around their teammate in the moment! Can’t thank them and the folks that cane out in support enough! This teams all for one and one for all mentality, along with their depth is why they will go far this season! This Bobcat Team is no joke and this is going to be a real fun run!
  6. Thank you man! Good luck to yall as well!
  7. Orangefield handled HJ more easily than they did BC earlier this year even though they were both convincing wins for us. However, HJ had their football guys and BC didn't. BC is a different team with Mungy on the floor and he is the catalyst that gets Bush going. No knock on HJ at all, but I got BC by 15.
  8. 3 & 11 are both real good shifty guards for SP, and their post 13 is very solid, he can step out and shoot it too. They just seem to loaf some on D once they get down some, and they dont seem to have any structure to their offense other than to try to go one on one to take shots. They should be really good in 2A though. they have the pieces, they just need to know how to put it all together.
  9. I believe Orangefield's weak pool games and then our matchup with Warren had some of our boys not ready for the rematch against Nederland. We came out flat as a team and watched a duel between Rossette and Scales at first, but then Nederland started getting help from their shooters. Once some of our boys woke up and realized the speed at which they'd have to play to win, the whole was just too deep. Great comeback, but not enough to get the W. Scales had 23 and I'm sure Rossette had close to the same. Great matchup again and we are really glad Dallas is ok and feeling better from the ankle sprain. Spoke with both him and Coach English after the game and there was nothing but respect and well wishes from both sides, exactly the way great competition should be.
  10. Coach, you have done a great job with that program and really invested in those players, it shows! Yall are number 6 for a reason and you stood firm when you were battle tested. I'm sure you guys will climb even more. Good luck to yall this season!
  11. I agree with you. “District being stacked was a broad statement. Should have said I look forward to the Orangefield/EC battles like we have every year. You're right about Buna too. They looked pretty tough tonight from what I’ve seen on fb. No matter what, it’s going to be a fun season and I think our team is capable of some really big things this year!
  12. I don’t care what the rankings say, you can never count Coach Sutherland out of any game. He will always have his guys ready to go! Our District will be stacked again this year! Let’s get it!
  13. Hoping to be able to go watch BC vs PNG tonight. Should be a good one!
  14. They watched Orangefield play our second game on Day 1, so they brought in players that were not on their original roster for our game against them. At least three players on Day 2 were not there for Day 1. I was told they promised the Director they would be bringing only their local team or what they would refer to as their JV since they were a "Prep Academy" that recruits. Apparently they feared taking a loss in 3A/4A tournament, so we were told the other three players were from their National Travel Team, which consists of 3, 4, & 5 Star Recruits. The cussing, chirping, and tryin to start fights started even before tip off. (I've seen teams like this in AAU, but never in a UIL Sanctioned Game) This is typical when these kinds of teams are afraid of losing to a small school team, they try to scare players acting like they want to fight and pull all that mess. Our country kids aren't scared of anything but God and their Daddy's and Momma's though, lol. Their coaches were jawwing at our players while on the floor, and their players were goin at Whitmire as well. Their players were making sexual gestures at our players and fans in the crowd during the game, which was brought a step further when one of their coaches made the same sexual gesture at one of the Moms in the crowd. Cops were brought in, and Im honestly not sure why the game wasn't stopped unless it was a UIL need to let it finish. They were hands down the most classless and poor representation of a high school program that I have ever seen. I feel sorry for the parents of kids that are having to pay to go to school there. There Head coach was in the news and convicted of embezzling over a million dollars from his company just six months ago. (the players were showing me pictures from the news.) He is on probation, coaching his son's high school team, trophy hunting in a small school tournament. I'm biased, but I believe we still beat them if my son doesn't pull his hip flexor in the 2nd quarter. They were already getting in foul trouble and sending him to the line, which was the plan.
  15. I wasn't told that they had to forfeit their win against us, but I do know they were told that they were not allowed to come back the following day due to multiple incidents involving their players and coaches.(I would think UIL would have to get involved for their win to be changed to a loss, correct?) Their removal from the tournament did put Orangefield back in the Championship Game against Jim Ned though.
  16. Scales pulled his hip flexor at the start of the 2nd quarter in the Semi against Austin Prep. Austin Prep won that game but was told they were not allowed back due to multiple on court incidents involving their coaches and their players. I was not told that would be a forfeiture of their win against us, but rather a removal of them from the tournament, which then put us back in the Championship Game against Jim Ned. Yes, great win for the Bobcats with Scales being out of the lineup.
  17. Orangefield is very good and playing like a team this year! Proud of these young men for acting like brothers so they can go for the WINS! We wish we could play Nederland again now that we have our football guys back!
  18. Orangefield did our job! What other Texas Schools came out with wins? 12-4 is embarrassing as a state. SETX or not 409 should have represented better than this.
  19. Then that means that you had BC picked to win the District even without consideration of the freshman. With that being said, it would be hard to move anyone of them out of the starting lineup when the expectations are already so high. That is all I was getting at.
  20. I'd start Mungy a the 1, Bush at the 2, Denison at the 3, Smart at 4, and Sylveria at 5. How about you?
  21. I appreciate your honesty sir, and I dont think you could have put that any better. Yes, he is a freshmen and for sure has time to figure it all out. He definitely has the tools to be a really good player when he does.
  22. You are entitled to your opinion, but I have had several very successful teams with multiple different players over the years. All teams have a leader and successful teams always choose to follow that lead. Do you not agree that Bush is the leader of that BC Team, along with Mungy, Sylveira, Denison, & Smart?
  23. To you and @Setxhasbeen, I've been reaching out to some of my BC contacts and I was naive in my assessment about Jennings. Though he may be talented offensively, they are struggling to get him to play at both ends and his attitude is very questionable. apparently there is a severe lack of respect for the players in front of him and it is spreading discontent. That is very sad to hear because those BC Seniors have been playing together for a very long time and had all the tools needed to be very special even without Jennings. If I was Daspit, nothing is worth losing the team chemistry those Seniors have and I'd address that situation now. This is the 2025/26 Season. He can have 27,28, & 29. It is his job to fit in with the BC Seniors and not the other way around. At the end of the day, BC is Bush's team and the ones who want to be part of it, will gladly follow him. I am an Orangefield Dad, and I promise I feel the same way about my son's team. He has unselfishly led this group like Bush has since they were young and no one deserves to break up that team chemistry.
  24. Well, they face-guarded Scales and were all over him but once they saw that our boys were going to work to get him free, yalls defensive game plan should have gotten changed up. If the whole plan is to stop one guy, but he is still getting touches, you have to try something different. Even LCM did that to us but still lost by 30. (Yes, I am biased and hate seeing teams only try to keep my son from getting the ball, lol) Too many bad fruits definitely makes sense, a lot of those younger guys yall have need to move back down and quit looking to shoot every time they touch it. The ball should be in Bush and Dennison's hands every time down the floor until Mungy and Smart get back. Even once they return, yall have a very good Senior Heavy Core that needs to lead and be getting those shots. Those guys have worked too hard to be fighting for touches from younger guys with their Mommas in the stands yelling, "shoot it" every time they touch it. Trust me, I know, we have the same problem with some of our guys playing up right now. Things will definitely change for you guys when Mungy and Smart get back. Mungy is a floor general and Smart is an enforcer. All that nonsense wont fly with them. In the meantime, Bush needs to be more vocal. He is the best player on the team and he needs to lead with authority. he has more than earned that right. He is a great young man and if they wont follow him, then Daspit should cut them! We appreciate your well wishes for this season, and we wish you guys the same! We will come support you guys when we aren't playing. Good luck to yall!
