I agree with you. “District being stacked was a broad statement. Should have said I look forward to the Orangefield/EC battles like we have every year. You're right about Buna too. They looked pretty tough tonight from what I’ve seen on fb. No matter what, it’s going to be a fun season and I think our team is capable of some really big things this year! -

I don’t care what the rankings say, you can never count Coach Sutherland out of any game. He will always have his guys ready to go! Our District will be stacked again this year! Let’s get it! -

They watched Orangefield play our second game on Day 1, so they brought in players that were not on their original roster for our game against them. At least three players on Day 2 were not there for Day 1. I was told they promised the Director they would be bringing only their local team or what they would refer to as their JV since they were a "Prep Academy" that recruits. Apparently they feared taking a loss in 3A/4A tournament, so we were told the other three players were from their National Travel Team, which consists of 3, 4, & 5 Star Recruits. The cussing, chirping, and tryin to start fights started even before tip off. (I've seen teams like this in AAU, but never in a UIL Sanctioned Game) This is typical when these kinds of teams are afraid of losing to a small school team, they try to scare players acting like they want to fight and pull all that mess. Our country kids aren't scared of anything but God and their Daddy's and Momma's though, lol. Their coaches were jawwing at our players while on the floor, and their players were goin at Whitmire as well. Their players were making sexual gestures at our players and fans in the crowd during the game, which was brought a step further when one of their coaches made the same sexual gesture at one of the Moms in the crowd. Cops were brought in, and Im honestly not sure why the game wasn't stopped unless it was a UIL need to let it finish. They were hands down the most classless and poor representation of a high school program that I have ever seen. I feel sorry for the parents of kids that are having to pay to go to school there. There Head coach was in the news and convicted of embezzling over a million dollars from his company just six months ago. (the players were showing me pictures from the news.) He is on probation, coaching his son's high school team, trophy hunting in a small school tournament. I'm biased, but I believe we still beat them if my son doesn't pull his hip flexor in the 2nd quarter. They were already getting in foul trouble and sending him to the line, which was the plan. -

I wasn't told that they had to forfeit their win against us, but I do know they were told that they were not allowed to come back the following day due to multiple incidents involving their players and coaches.(I would think UIL would have to get involved for their win to be changed to a loss, correct?) Their removal from the tournament did put Orangefield back in the Championship Game against Jim Ned though. -

Scales pulled his hip flexor at the start of the 2nd quarter in the Semi against Austin Prep. Austin Prep won that game but was told they were not allowed back due to multiple on court incidents involving their coaches and their players. I was not told that would be a forfeiture of their win against us, but rather a removal of them from the tournament, which then put us back in the Championship Game against Jim Ned. Yes, great win for the Bobcats with Scales being out of the lineup. -

Orangefield is very good and playing like a team this year! Proud of these young men for acting like brothers so they can go for the WINS! We wish we could play Nederland again now that we have our football guys back! -

Orangefield did our job! What other Texas Schools came out with wins? 12-4 is embarrassing as a state. SETX or not 409 should have represented better than this. -

Then that means that you had BC picked to win the District even without consideration of the freshman. With that being said, it would be hard to move anyone of them out of the starting lineup when the expectations are already so high. That is all I was getting at. -

I'd start Mungy a the 1, Bush at the 2, Denison at the 3, Smart at 4, and Sylveria at 5. How about you? -

I appreciate your honesty sir, and I dont think you could have put that any better. Yes, he is a freshmen and for sure has time to figure it all out. He definitely has the tools to be a really good player when he does. -

You are entitled to your opinion, but I have had several very successful teams with multiple different players over the years. All teams have a leader and successful teams always choose to follow that lead. Do you not agree that Bush is the leader of that BC Team, along with Mungy, Sylveira, Denison, & Smart? -

To you and @Setxhasbeen, I've been reaching out to some of my BC contacts and I was naive in my assessment about Jennings. Though he may be talented offensively, they are struggling to get him to play at both ends and his attitude is very questionable. apparently there is a severe lack of respect for the players in front of him and it is spreading discontent. That is very sad to hear because those BC Seniors have been playing together for a very long time and had all the tools needed to be very special even without Jennings. If I was Daspit, nothing is worth losing the team chemistry those Seniors have and I'd address that situation now. This is the 2025/26 Season. He can have 27,28, & 29. It is his job to fit in with the BC Seniors and not the other way around. At the end of the day, BC is Bush's team and the ones who want to be part of it, will gladly follow him. I am an Orangefield Dad, and I promise I feel the same way about my son's team. He has unselfishly led this group like Bush has since they were young and no one deserves to break up that team chemistry. -

Well, they face-guarded Scales and were all over him but once they saw that our boys were going to work to get him free, yalls defensive game plan should have gotten changed up. If the whole plan is to stop one guy, but he is still getting touches, you have to try something different. Even LCM did that to us but still lost by 30. (Yes, I am biased and hate seeing teams only try to keep my son from getting the ball, lol) Too many bad fruits definitely makes sense, a lot of those younger guys yall have need to move back down and quit looking to shoot every time they touch it. The ball should be in Bush and Dennison's hands every time down the floor until Mungy and Smart get back. Even once they return, yall have a very good Senior Heavy Core that needs to lead and be getting those shots. Those guys have worked too hard to be fighting for touches from younger guys with their Mommas in the stands yelling, "shoot it" every time they touch it. Trust me, I know, we have the same problem with some of our guys playing up right now. Things will definitely change for you guys when Mungy and Smart get back. Mungy is a floor general and Smart is an enforcer. All that nonsense wont fly with them. In the meantime, Bush needs to be more vocal. He is the best player on the team and he needs to lead with authority. he has more than earned that right. He is a great young man and if they wont follow him, then Daspit should cut them! We appreciate your well wishes for this season, and we wish you guys the same! We will come support you guys when we aren't playing. Good luck to yall! -

Mungi and Smart are definitely difference makers, and great young men, but Bush, Sylveria, Dennison, and several of their support players were all there. Keep in mind, we are missing two starters as well; Thomas & Sims. (Thomas should return mid December) It was a great game, but Orangefield is just different this year. The players are all working together for the win. BC faceguarded/denied Scales from the start and all of the Bobcats worked hard by screening or chipping the defender every chance they got to really disrupt BC's defensive game plan. This year's Bobcat Team is just that a TEAM, which is very refreshing from the nonsense we saw last year. Last week they gave 5A Nederland all they could handle without our football guys and the two starters we are still missing. Coach Whitmire and his staff have really set the bar with discipline this offseason, and that reality check has aligned this group! The message has been sent, "either get onboard or get out" and us parents love it! Couldn't be more proud of this group and looking forward to a great season! -

Very proud of our Bobcats last night! Even though Jaxon Agerton returned to help us out, we are still very shorthanded and yet they still battled and kept it close with 5A Nederland (Who has their whole team) all night. Our core leadership of Scales, Willis, & Jones unselfishly led, and the younger guys all stepped up and played well at the Varsity Level. Should be a great year when we get everyone back! -
Orangefield beat Silsbee 51/46. Mikayla Locke crossed 1,000 Points while leading her team with 21 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists! She was also named District MVP in Volleyball this morning! Huge congratulations to a great young lady from a great Bobcat Family!

Yes, we are missing 7, possibly 8 if there is anyway we can get Gonzo to play with us. He is our only true post and we'd love to have him. That 8 that we are missing includes 3 starters, arguably 4 considering Jaxon Agerton. 2 out for disciplinary reasons (1 returns this week, the other in late Dec), 6 out for football. Still had a good showing and should be a real fun year when the team is all together again!

I am a Bobcat Dad, but have friends from both BC & LCM. I hate that them and their kids are suffering because of a lapse in judgment by the Coaches. With that being said, I can personally attest to the great man, Coach and father that Hunter Gonzales is. However, in the heat of the moment, competitive nature and the goal of winning may have taken over. If the video proves he had the band and his mannerisms and conduct on the sideline prove they were using it to have an unfair advantage against BC during the first half, then I totally believe it warrants a forfeit of their win. Especially, if the video exposes another Coach of having knowledge of the band as well! In a perfect World, we could make them replay the game, but since that cannot happen, I believe the only right thing to do is go with the score in the second half once BC knew they needed to abandon the use of the bands. JMO, but we all should have the moral obligation to get things right when it comes to kids, whether we like that outcome or not.
