Nothing this defense has done so far has convinced me they can hold Newton to 35. Scoring 42 on offense against a defense that has only allowed one 4A team to score over 20 will be tough also but we'll see

Good play calling and decent blocking from the OLine might allow us to score and keep it competitive. OLine got a hard task at hand though. Newton probably has the best front 7 in 3AD2 region 3. On defense our best bet is to hope they feel like gambling and airing it out a little. Hopefully our secondary don't get caught slipping if they do

I don't know what they know. All I know is they're not putting out the best group they could put out on defense. If a kid is playing less snaps then the other players at his position and opponents seem to make a conscious effort to not go his direction yet he still has the most tackles at his position up until the most recent game I think that might signify that kid should probably start at his position.

Think that's probably the kid he was raving about last year. I think he's supposed to turn out to be really good. Either way it probably doesn't matter much as he'll probably just be handing off to #3. I'd like to see him put it in the air though 😆

I don't know how you come up with your claim about me being right about nothing but I definitely wouldn't mind not being right about this game. Fact is most who know about these 2 teams had Newton as the favorite from the beginning and with the defense not being up to par this year (partially cause the coaching staff is not playing the best players) that makes our chances of winning this game even slimmer. You have a lot riding on me being wrong cause other wise you have never sided with Woodville about anything.

Newton is not Warren or Trinity. Newton defense is OF 2.0. Babin can throw for another 3 or 4 TDs and no picks and Woodville still lose by 20 plus

Woodville probably doesn't have much of a shot in this match up but might make it competitive if the offense is really clicking. That will take really good play calling and the OLine will have to give Babin some time to operate. Only fraction of a chance at winning would be causing some turnovers. Turnovers can be hard to come by when your playing a team who runs it as much as Newton does

Warren scored 14 against 1-5 Elkhart and 35 against Kirbyville who gave up 69 to Anahuac the following week. Other then that Warren hasn't scored. It'd be good to see Warren be a competitive football team but I don't see that happening any time soon

Good match up. I'll take Trinity because of their size and experience up front along with good qb and receiving core.

I don't know what they do at Aledo. Could just be a lot of recruiting for all I know. All I know is this defense is not working at Woodville regardless of where he got it from

Most of the coaching staff been coaching 20 plus years. No reason anyone should have to explain these simple concepts to them. It's probably more of them just being stuck on certain ideals then actually not knowing better. And him being an assistant running backs coach at Aledo has nothing to do with him being a HC at Woodville. Two different jobs and 2 different programs

Yea it's definitely poor coaching if you teach defensive players to be robots. Defense is reactive and instinctive.

The guy who has consistently been the best edge guy this year didn't play at all first half and played only a couple snaps second half. Another talented sophmore disappeared again after missing the first 2 games and playing limited snaps the last 2. I seen one of the edge guys that were out there have a chance to get a sack but instead chose to cut back inside. Looked like he was just being a robot and doing what he was taught to do. It's hard to look at

Main thing is the front 7 isn't as strong as it could be. It's better than it was at the beginning of the season but it could still be better. Then the guys they do have out there they have them thinking too much and it's taking away from their instincts.

Babin will do that against most teams in district if he wants to. It'll be tough trying to do that against Newton or some of the better teams in the playoffs though. Defense gone have to tighten up. Giving up 35 to Trinity can likely lead up to 60 against Newton. And I don't think we'll be able to match that 60

28/42 at start of second half. Guess we gone continue to find creative ways to give up points. Offense looks unstoppable though

Didn't have an official offer but was being heavily recruited. Being he's still in the middle of his junior season I would think he'd probably get an offer in the near future. Had several offers from Texas schools also so I'm guessing Vandy made a good impression for him to make that decision this early
