Many were sophomores. 4 of the 5 losses were by a TD or less and they beat Diboll. Very common for a young team to have inconsistency. There is an incoming freshman that will impact both sides of the ball. Contending for District is the minimum.

Every starter on defense is back and nearly all starters on offense return. Got at least one Freshman that will be making an impact on Varsity.

Heard they have another "Jeff Granger" on the team.

Center will likely not play as bad as they did against LCM. LCM was able to hang around due to one of the worst offensive games of the year by Center. If Center and LCM played again, Center would win by 20+. Regardless, Washington will definitely be the favorite.

That is what I was talking about as well. I would be willing to place a large wager that the all-time record of Newton 8th vs Kountze 8th is overwhelmingly in favor of Newton.

The kids is legit though they do not have much around him in the 8th grade. My son's team beat them 42-12. The Newton QB/RB ran a punt back after a 1st series punt and scored a TD on the last series of the game. I suspect as he moves through HS, Newton will put the pieces around him.
