1. I know that the WOS 7th grade moving up to 8th grade this year will be one to look out for.  My son has now moved onto High School so I will be looking here for updates on how the Stallions did.

Cougar: Trust me when I say that the size of the kid does not matter.  My poor little skinny kid had coaches and players looking at him and I actually heard them say he's nothing; he's too skinny.  Then the game started and they were on their backs or flying through the air when that skinny kid tore into them.  Good luck!

2. My oldest graduated this year and I have a younger son who will be a junior this coming school year. My father use to be the HC for Girls and boys basketball at WO and was also the Athletic Director before moving on to become superintendent at various schools. My father I believe coached Coach T back in the day! Yes he is a great Coach and person.

Well, the only name that comes to my mind is McCarty.  Private message me.  I am curious.  my siblings and I have all graduated from WOS (79, 80, 82, 86); nephew (2000); and oldest son (2012).  My youngest is a freshman this year.

3. It is pretty sad for the kids when they are taught in youth football to win and that's all they know and when they get into school ball its a different story because of a few parents.

I'm not following you on this one.  All kids are taught to win.  I would hope that they were also taught that you CAN'T always win.  Are you saying that parents are at fault for that?

4. No doubt about it! that's why I moved my kids! I want my kids to be part of a good program and that's what you get when the Coaches are there for the kids.. If they are fortunate enough to play at a higher level then its all good but if they don't its not the end of the world. WOS is my kids school, and I admire Coach T and his efforts, do I agree with everything the coaches do, probably not but I know that they have made my kids feel like they are part of that Mustang family and would not have done it any differently!

I love coach T.  He has been around for a long time and knows his stuff.  He was coaching the STANGS when I was there and has only gotten better!  I always said if my son ever played football, I wanted it to be Coach Hooks.  Then he retired and when I heard Coach T took over, I cried with joy!  Good man right there.  BTW: what grade is yours in?

5. skipper: not necessarily.  I lived in LCM school district when my kids were in early elementary.  They wanted to go back to WOS with their friends.  I applied for special permission for the kids to transfer back to WOS and it was approved.  I was responsible for bringing them to and from school each day but that was no problem.   Problem was solved when I bought a house in the WOS district.  It can be done.  Just like someone from WOS can go to school in different district as long as the parents are willing to pay for tuition to do so.

6. even now, I tell my son to play football only if HE wants to; not because he feels like he owes us something because he doesn't owe us a dang thing.  If he ever feels like football is NOT for him, he has our blessing to not do it.  I don't think some of the coaches agree with that but it's true.  He may be an asset to the field, but he is more of an asset to ME because he is my kid.  Okay, I'm done.

7. I congratulate the Silsbee 7th Grade A team for showing up and playing to win. I would like to say that all of our boys did too; however, I just didn't see it.  Some of our boys were there to win and you could tell which ones they were.

Now, I would like to address the parents and coaches of ALL of the Silsbee Jr. High teams because I honestly don't know if it was 7th or 8th grade, A or B.

I honestly don't appreciate your football players knocking down my 2 year old grandson and then laughing about it.

I brought him to the concession stand to get a "juice" and "eat eat".  The players from Silsbee were up there and were screaming at some or our players.  In the midst of everything, with the players trying to get to our players, my baby was pushed. He was standing right in front of me in the line and we both were pushed by the players.

I grabbed him up and left without spending a dime at that concession stand.  It was ridiculous that the kids thought it was okay to act like that.  I am very, very, disappointed.  Adults around the area did NOTHING to stop it.  Just stood there and watched.  I did what I could by telling the security guard what was happening.  I don't know if it settled down or not.  I never went back up there.

Shame Shame Shame....he is only 2 years old and was bullied by jr. high kids!

I'll promise you this, WOS98.  You don't have to worry about your kids getting cheated like that if y'all play in our house next year.  But then again, that's why even Dan Hooks chooses to live in Bridge City.

Excuses, excuses and my boy play on the 8th grade team! Hey who cares where Dan Hooks stays? Seems to me you're the only one that cares.. Lol. Last time I check Coach Thompson was the coach @ the House that Dan Ray built! Matter fact y don't y'all bring Hooks out of Retirement to be BC Coach?

Uh huh... and Thompson chooses to live in Orangefield, too.  It must be worse than I thought over there.

Are we talking about cities to live or to the football teams because it seems like you are getting it all mixed up.  Yeah, Coach T may live in Orangefield, but he keeps coming back to the Stangs, as in West Orange Stark Mustangs!
9. ;) Attn: to all the parents and coaches who think I am a loud mouth and need to tone it down ... you're in luck!  I will be at the WOS vs Silsbee game; however, I doubt you will be hearing my yell very much if at all.  I have Strep Throat and can't talk much less yell.  Woo Hoo, you guys should be happy for that alone!  ;)

See you guys tomorrow night!  May the best team win ... WOS of course!  :-*

Kind of touching on what moose48 expressed, everything is ridiculous. I am friends with several 7th, 8th and 9th football parents on both sides. I have seen several things happen in the past where it's always been pretty good games. Hard fought on both sides. To make a reply on the 9th grade game squeaking it out 10-8 right at the end, doesn't reflect them playing the week before winning 20-0. Also, we several freshman playing on the JV level that would have a huge differential on the score. So it's really hard to say what the final outcome may be.  It was great to see all of the support at the 7th and 8th grade games. They even had the band there! It was even better seeing the #26 walk back down the sidelines after being carted off the field! In the end, shouldn't all just be about the kids that are playing? Nice post Roy.... and remember, the winner will always be the one that has the most points at the end.... nothing else matters.

It was an awesome game and yes, having the band and mascots out there really helped keep the game going.  I had a great time!  Great game played by both teams.  Kinda reminds me of when WOS Sr. Lil Mustangs played Port Arthur Titans that year.  Full of energy and excitement! ;D
