  1. I can't believe this was the SAME crew as last year. If so, they were bad last year and worse this year. WOS has NEVER had officials in their pockets, I would say we are probably the most penalized team in the area. Seems like we have to overcome the refs EVERY game. I have talked to refs who hated to work WOS games because of Dan Hooks.

I certainly agree they were confused. Actually to me they looked like they have never worked together.

I always walked away from the games thinking the refs hated WOS and the Stangs are always playing against the other teams and the refs!  If we have them in our pockets, tell that to everyone in the stands who sees the dislike shown on the field through "FABRIC ON THE FIELD"

  2. as dan ray hooks has said time after time give me a team that can avg 4 yards per down  and i will show you a 10-0 team..the two practice games agnest nederland and vidor means just that practice. come friday night at LC-M  we will see  what all the talk is about the mustangs special  teams play  tons of speed and good downfield blocking just hope the yellow flags  dont go flying. to me watched both practice games and the flags killed there drives just ask other mustangs they will tell you the same thing .

I agree that scrimmages are just practices.  Also, keep in mind that Coach T has final say so over the Freshman and JV so before he led his Varsity onto the field, he was watching JV and making changes to the Freshman team as well.  I know because he changed my own son up to see what he could do in a different position.  That's how he coaches.  See's what everyone has and then builds on that.  He is looking to win championships from all of his teams --and expects the best from them all!  While he has many coaches to help him out; the final name that is mentioned when a game is played, win or lose, is Coach T and he takes that sh*t serious!

    I hope that makes sense.

  3. Always a good game.  Looking forward to getting back into those cozy concrete seats in Orange and watching these two go at it.

speaking of our cozy concrete seats; last year i saw a couple come up the stands carrying the thickest looking stadium seats I have ever seen.  I just had to ask them where they got them from.  The young man looked, smiled, and said they were BOAT SEATS and said they were very comfortable and sturdy.  Yup, off to Academy I went and bought me some blue/grey ones.  Just a thought for everyone.

  4. Being a former BISD kid, there wasn't a BISD Police force back then and things operated pretty well. If there was a problem, the real poli e officers are called in and/or a coach or male teach was called in to stop the confusion. Also, parents were more involved and proactive on a lot of situations.

The current BISD police are always seen doing nothing... Some of thwm do a piss poor job doing their job even when a situation presents itself. Also, its been rumored for several years now that there are many of the BISD police that's doing a lot of inappropriate things toward and around the students..

NOT trying to sound rude, but I am not surprised by what you said about the rumors.  With so many corrupt people "in charge" there, and kickbacks all over the place, I don't doubt the rumors are correct.  I don't want any of the BISD teachers cut; but at the same time, I don't want what could be the ONE thing that keeps these kids looking toward their future with excitement being cut either.  It's a sad, sad situation all around.

  5. ...they definitely won't be cutting all sports... I'm pretty confident in that.

I've been saying for several years that the BISD Police should've BEEN cut. They don't serve much purpose and IMO not necessary....

I have always thought the same thing about the BISD Police Dept.  Then again, its easy for me to say that considering I don't have any children going to that school district.  I know that many districts, including my own WOS, have police officers at games and events at the school.  If needed, there are also, at times, a police officer at the school during the day.  I would think that is more economical then having an entire "police force" on duty all of the time.

Is there anyone out there that can give figures on this?  How much for on compus, full time, school employed police force VS using the City police dept?

  6. WOW!  Cut out what could be the one and only thing that keeps a lot of kids off the streets and prevents them from doing wrong and actually gives them a REASON to "make the grade" and keep on keepin on!!!  I know the article did say its not just athletics being looked at to compensate for the budget deficient and that is only fair.  I agree that there needs to be cuts all across the board; I just hate that the KIDS are having to pay the price for the ADULTS sticky fingers.

  7. AggiesareWe ............. If all goes well, I will be at the WOS Midnight Madness.  Won't be able to miss me: Blue mesh jersey; WOS stitched on each sleeve; "Proud Mom to Gary "The Beast" Beach" stitched along the front; people call me "Queen" or "Queenie".  Say hello if you see, or hear, me!

  8. If your competition sucks then you're right, size doesn't matter. When North Shore and Dayton are on your schedule it matters a lot. A 5-10 175 lb kid is going to get the nod over 5-5 125lb kid ALL day long if athleticism is equal. That's just the way it is, middle school and beyond. Do you need to be big? Of course not but when you play schools with 400-500 kids in a single grade you won't see much of that small guy throwing big guy around otherwise that kid is probably on the B team.

hmm, WOS had pretty tough competition.  Silsbee, PNG, Orangefield, Jasper, etc.  My son was on A team playing against A team.  If there are 400 - 500 kids in each grade, then they wouldn't be playing against WOS anyway as that would put them into a higher ranking of school.
