I think that until word on either a resignation or re-assignment is made official, it is bit inappropriate to weigh in on rumored suitors for a job that is currently occupied.

It's a damn shame more people don't show up. We ride or die Patriots really enjoyed it though. Seeing those kids celebrate is worth it all.

How about that call by Faircloth on the double reverse play? It was 2nd and goal from the 4 and it turned into 3rd and goal from the 15.  Resulted in no points. You know your not going to catch a discipline team like Nederland out of position.  Thanks Brandon!

    Team,
I tried to post months ago when this thread was first on, but for some reason I could not login.  My login and password didn't work.  Tried again this week and it worked.  Noticed the thread again and just wanted to share my thoughts.
I did have a son that wore #23.  He would be a freshman this year and likely in the program.  Instead, he is fighting a losing battle with Osteosarcoma.  When I choose the moniker he was a 6 year old playing T-ball.  Those are some memories that I will always cherish.
I have other children (both boys and a girl) who have played sports at Vidor.  This isn't about how Larry treated my children.  My children are cursed with my gentics.  Every minute of Playing Time that they ever get a testimony that hard work and commitment can occassionally overcome genetics and that the talent pool at Vidor is often shallow.
However, Larry did a below average job of coaching as he took over the team and he detoriated into doing a really poor job.  I do not mean that as an indictment on him as a person or as him on a coach.  I am just pointing out that he lost the team, the individual players and the community and as things went South, he only made decisions that made things worse.
I actually think that I am an above average Sports Coach (although it is not what I do professionally) and yet I have sucked it up with some of my teams.  Nothing I did worked and I made decisions that made things worse.  Sometimes it happens.  Sometimes you need a reboot.  I hope the reboot helps Coach Sterling.  I wish the reboot would have happen 2 years sooner for Vidor.

That is how I really feel.

Team First, Then you do not know Larry Sterling very well.
I do not care what you think my motivation is.  I am just calling it like I see it.  I have been on this board a long time.  It is easy to find out exactly who I am.  And I haven't said anything here that I have not first said to Larry privately in person.

I don't know why everything was deleted in this sub-forum but i'll repost what I had.
Hi all, in my boredom and curiosity, I contacted the UIL Music office and they were able to provide me with UIL Music ratings from all regions of Texas going back to the 1984-85 school year.
I put all of Region 10's ratings in a spreadsheet and tediously arranged it so you can see a historical perspective of ratings for both marching and concert/sight-reading contests, head director, and selections played for concert/sight-reading contest.
    * there is a gap for 1988-89 as the files for region 10 that year are non-existent.
    * Other ratings gaps might be due to a school not participating in UIL music activities during that time or participated in a different region. I try to make that designation on the spreadsheet.
    * Up until the 1990-91 school year, there was only 1 sight-reading judge.
Here is Nederland's. It was the first one requested:

August 22 - Rick Miller Season Opener - [email protected]
*** We separate into groups of three for this meet, and stick to a dual meet / tri meet format.
*** This allows this meet to count only as a scrimmage.  Great way to start season, as all races are only 2 miles long.

August 29 - nothing in Golden Triangle, gotta go to Houston

The time is NOT the national record, it's a National Leader. #3 all time I believe. The National record is:

1:23.31 Wyatt, Ft. Worth, Texas 1998
    1:23.78 Glenville, Cleveland Ohio 2004

UIL either needs to make Area mandatory or do away and go back to top 3.  I understand a vote of no for area if you have a relay that has a good chance at State.  Just an extra meet for a bad exchange.  But other than that, lazy track coaches or admins are screwing kids out of regionals.  Any thoughts? With no are you have 3's and 4's that are better than some other districts 1 and 2.  And you have bronze medalists on the awards stands that stay home.  crazy

I am a local head track coach and I really liked the idea of Area when it first came about. The idea was to make Regionals better because you don't always get the top 3 in each race from each district because some of those athletes will be dropped from individual races and put on relays. You also have some districts that are tremendous in some events and it's very possible that the #4 in that district is good enough to make the Regional finals.

With that said, the idea of Area is good but I agree that it should become mandatory. If our Area meet gets rained out it will be very unfortunate for many athletes. For example, our top 5 shot put throwers trumped our neighboring districts first place throw. You also see the same results in the 300mH. Our top 6 were better than their first place finish. You can look at the results and see this in numerous events, some they win and some we win. Obviously this doesn't mean it will happen again when the districts meet up. You don't know the conditions each district was facing and how hard some athletes had to push to win their event. The purpose of Area was to benefit the athletes and get the best athletes through to Regionals. The only way to make this happen is to make it mandatory.

Those three girls will be very fun to watch over the next three years. I also had a Sophomore that went 13:05 and 5:53 the first two weeks of the season but was out with mono. There are at least three 8th graders coming up that can run as well. Two from HF and one from OF, I don't know about LCM as they are in a different MS district. The distance races next year should be extremely fast.
