  1. Im sure your registration money has already been spent on Insurance, uniforms, equipment, etc...... lol

    don't know about insurance

as far as uniforms: shirts are 2nd hand from last year; maybe even longer then that; kids are wearing white practice pants that we, the parents bought; unless  you spent the money on a Revolution helmet (which I did), the helmets are used also

what equipment? a football?  Water bottles for kids? nope -- I bought them with my own money (except for $10 which was handed to me by two parents; the balance came from my pocket)

give me something else to say where the money went and I might accept it.

Hi, I can't address exactly how your association spends their money, but I'd be willing to bet that they offer scholarships and equipment to children who cannot otherwise afford to play, all associations do, plus as was previously mentioned, they have to buy supplies for concession stands, practice balls and equipment.  Also they pay dues to the STJFL based upon how many teams they have and they pay insurance each year, which I can tell you is VERY costly for a non-profit league.  Our association furnishes a uniform to each child, the pads for the pants, mouth pieces and pays for all practice equipment, flags for the flag players, cones, balls, etc.  We also pay referee fees each week for two to three referees per game.  The fees are much more than the average person would realize.  Even if your association furnished used jerseys, they still had the initial expense of buying them, and many have to be replaced each year due to being returned in unusable condition...and they aren't cheap!  I hope this may give you some insight into the expenses to run a league, we also have to pay to maintain our buildings and fields....I'm not sure that WO has to do this, but it is an additional expense as is security or custodians...if they have to be furnished when you use school property, and they frequently do.

  2. The season wasn't cancelled after Rita, it was just delayed.  The STJFL has not yet met to discuss the season.  We will let everyone know as soon as we might begin again.   We suffered tremendous losses in Bridge City and I know others did as well and we all need to focus on our families first, then we'll begin to discuss the start up of the football season.  Best of luck to all who were hard hit by Ike.

  3. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH GETTING A SCHEDULE FOR THIS YEAR, OR DIRECT ME TO WHAT SITE TO GO TO, TO GET IT?

Can you tell me which association you belong to?  For example, BC, LC, WO, etc?  Then I could point you in the right direction.  It will hopefully be up this week on the STJFL site, but until then, I can hopefully give you a contact.

  4.   Will Vidor play on both fields? They have one real crappy field that they dont even mow, and the other they put all there money in it? Did they get the lights worked out? I bet the PREZ wont be playing on the crappy field! I'm just a concerned Parent just wanting for my sons Team to get the same treatment as the other teams! How did Vidor draw teams did they have a coaches draft or did they stack teams, cause while im watching practices those teams lopsided. One of the younger teams looks like the same team the Prez had last year, I bet if you get a last years roster from lonestar 90% of the kids are the same. Does any body know how many teams the other league in Vidor has?

They DID NOT stack teams, they have STJFL draft rules they must follow like every other association in the STJFL.  If children are returning to a team - i.e. they are not moving up to the next division - then they DO return to the SAME team.  The only players drafted are new kids to the league, or players who have moved up, OR if a new team is formed that didn't exist the previous year.  So if one team has a large # of returning players and one doesn't, the one that doesn't gets the larger # of new players.  It is up to the individual association as to what fields are used for what teams.

    Hope this helps clarify things.

  5. Schedules were put together last night as I understand it. When will they be posted on the web page?

The schedules were made on August 10th, but can't be published until they are reviewed by all associations for errors/discrepancies.  They will be posted some time next week.

Good luck to all teams in the STJFL!  Have a great season.
