I have a solution.....ask coach mixon to be head baseball coach and AD.. He is a homer and will probably be here until he retires. (unless a new AD runs him off)  Mixon can run an athletic dept. and hire a football coach to just coach football...this way the turnover wont be as big of an impact everytime..

idk about jack, but toby or darell would both like to be here

interesting thing happened tonight while standing next to a jisd employee he recieved two phone calls from prospective coaches inquiring about the ad/hc position.  I will name one,,,,toby foreman..the second I wont cause he is a head coach in the triangle area but he was a finalist last go around...jasper will be fine I dont know toby but everyone on here seems to really like him,,,the second would be a great hire alot of people wanted him chosen last time...I just hope that who ever does the hiring will consider if the person has a reason to stay for a while..I know the un-named has a reason and would stay for a while..I am confident we will get a good coach and be successful next year with a new coach, the talent is great for the next 4 yrs with a strong jr and fresh classes next year.  I'm thankful that these coaches that are calling are not discouraged by not being hired last time around or by the political mess morgan is causing..Morgan wants to leave period. He's still young and has alot of life in front of them I wish them luck and happiness..thankful for all his hard work and dedication to our jasper kids...he turned the program around and the next coach will get the benefit...and that's that..

who started pitching for jasper and how many runs did they give up.  When I started listening they had 10 runs already..

[/quote] Coaches should get paid for summer workouts IMO. Teachers don't really work in the summer or spend time at the school on weekends doing work. Coaches spend more time at school facilities then they do at home. You must not know much about the coaching profession trying to compare their hours to normal teachers hours. [/quote] No I do understand the time the coaches put in, when talking to a friend yesterday who his wife teaches and is one who tutors athletes after school every day except on fridays. IDK its like I said I'm on the fence its hard to do for one when you dont do for all..

jasper has to play 3 district games in 3 days thurs. fri. and sat.  thats bad real bad...

Tomorrow thursday at noon the school board will meet with morgan in a closed session with out the presence of the superintendant or the personal director (admin's).  This will be interesting, I have recieved 20+ email and texts this evening about meeting at the admin building at 9:30 to show support for coach morgan..Many people including myself are wondering if he is pulling a political stunt to get his way if so he has lost all credability in my eyes...

Morgan said this was the same program carthage was doing and he believed it was a key to the success for the entire athletic program..remember they won state in football and baseball..I havent heard anyone ratted him out but I have heard from three different coaches that he required them to be at the  field house at 6:30 every morning.  I did hear that another demand he made was that the coaches recieve extra pay for the summer work out program. The kids report at 7am for weights, if they dont show or they are late they are punished by having to carry tires...breakfast is delivered by kitchen to field house Im sure they have to pay..during first period kids work on football outside on pretty days. whats your opinion wosgrad and how does this differ from other schools workout program.

[/quote] Im not sure of uil rules but i do know players are required to be at the field house at 7am every morning for workouts and they last through first period.  breakfast is delivered to field house for players to eat. I personally thought it was a great workout program all althlets in different programs participated in the workouts even if they didnt play football... Maybe aggiesweare or wos can shed some light on the uil rules.. I wouldnt think it is against uil rules that would be really stupid and Morgan is not that kind of a person (i think)

[/quote] I dont think Lauve was a bad hire, won more games and took us farther than any other coach we ever had. Bickham was not successful but we had several down years of talent..but he wasnt strict enough and alot of good kids didnt want to play in that enviorment...

jasper athletic program has a teacher from each core subject VOLUNTEER thier time to help tutor the kids that are having trouble in a subject..this program was of great help this year and the reason for the passing rate.. I was told by a coach TODAY that alot of coaches was dissappointed in the Morgan's they feel abandoned by HC morgan and said brother Morgan doesnt do anything but walk around and be lazy..He said that he didnt know of any other coaches that had a problem with there teaching schedule in fact he said they are treated better than other schools treated him..he went on to say he hopes whoever the new coach is will want him to stick around. This is a coach that goes to the HS for 1st period athletics, goes to another school and teaches then goes to the middle school for 8th period jr high athletics and helps the jr high lift weights.. We have some good young coaches that our young athlets like and work hard for hope we can retain some...

Who ever gets the coaching job will do good. Coach morgan installed the disipline our program was lacking under the previous regime. We had alot of soph on varisity last yr in key positions.

[/quote] I dont know him personally but alot of posters on here seem to really like him.. I heard he was one of the finalist last time and he may be a good fit we just need someone to grow roots.  Reguardless of what people think jasper is a great place to raise a family. When you move here you make some sacrafices (like no Mall) but if you like to fish,hunt or play golf come on.

1. The OC that was asked to teach was Morgan's brother, he didnt like that.. 2. He wanted several coaches out of the class room and full time coaches... (I personally have never known a coach in jasper to not teach except the HC and AD..) What would a coach do during the day play golf? they only have two work out periods in the field house..Some of the coaches that teach, teach PE and are only there for 3 periods..come on. Coach Brooks= left for tyler after about 3 years Coach Lauve= stayed for about 5 years (best years we ever had) left for 5a Coach Brooks= came back coached couple of yrs and has stayed with district. Coach Bicham= lead program in wrong direction (the inmates ran the prison) Coach Morgan= 1 year..has program turned around in every area, great coach. I think we need to look for someone with jasper ties that maybe has parents here or went to school here..(coach Mixon and our baseball program is a good example) Next coach will have a great team to work with and will be successful..
