T-daddy replied to Sportznut's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
4a and 5a the greater Dallas area. 1a, 2a, and 3a east texas from I10 north I30 south and I45 east. To bad we dont have any 6 man teams in this area they would be tough as well... -

I have noticed the enrollment has steadily decreased at wos, I wonder when this will have an impact on the football team. and will they ever have to merge with another school like orangefield.
-
its to early to post a score but i dont think this game will end in a blow out...jasper will be excited and nervous for the first home game of the year and sometimes its harder to play at home than on the road..with that said they should play the second half much better than the first..

WO-S vs. Kirbyville Predictions?
T-daddy replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Kvill's offense was not very good last friday night just didnt seem to click. I would think that wos has a better defense than jasper, and kville did not sustain a drive against jasper. ad a wet field to the mix and I am not sure kville will score...maybe late in the 4th quarter..I do HOPE the teams are evenly matched but thats probably not the case.. wos 45 kville 7 (late when it doesnt matter) -
I guess no one else is playing?

I have found "sweet baby rays" is the best bbq sauce sold at brookshires..When I bought my link on a bun friday i sure did miss it...As for the game Jasper done what I thought they would controled the clock and wore the defense out. Besides a couple of big plays the Jasper "D" played well. Alvis was great, showed he is the best qb in the lakes area...

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!!!!!!!
-
Sam Alvis - Jasper
-
the answer is ALVIS the best qb in this neck of the woods.. Not so fast my friend!.....I would take Flannigan from Newton over Alvis Much more polished and a proven winner. This is Alvis's first year flannigan is a good kid and I like him but Alvis will shine bright by the end of the year..
-
its hard not to control the clock when your opponent is going 3 and out...I can assure you kville is no gilmer!!

jasper's bringing the crow this year..kville fans better bring some A1 sauce..
-
Jasper is back they will run up and down the field on kirbyville. I will be the first to predict a jasper blow out, Alvis for heisman! jasper 37 kville 13
-
I'm sure if a kid is good enough they will take him...
-
The loss to kirbyville last year was the begining of the end for coach brooks and the 2008 team. Hope this years team has a little more backbone..

I also remember giving up 49 points against Gilmer and not being able to stop LH. I like the idea of building our team around defense. Agree completely. Jasper has always been a better all-around team when we could stop our opponents. There's not a more helpless feeling than watching a defense that can't stop anybody. You can't win consistently over the long term if you can't keep points off the board. Go into Jasper's historical records from 1977 through 1996. Coach Walkoviak's teams always played good defense and he won close to 80% of his games there. Maybe I'm living in the past here, but he proved over the long haul that that kind of football works in Jasper. Look at Newton and WOS. They have won that way consistently for 30 years. How far did we advance in the playoffs under walkoviak? Quarterfinals if you dont remember. And that was great we were proud. But lets face it we didnt scare anyone when it came to our offense. My point is you must be able to score quick and often to be a serious contender. for example gilmer they are not 3 yards and a cloud of dust..and I bet we spend alot of time preparing our defense for their offense. I will take winning 50% of our games if we win the ones that count and IMO coach lauve new how to do that, hope we can get going again this year... -

but you win by scoring more points than the other team. Remember the state team how many times did we score in 1, 2, or 3 play drives...alot. -
how hard was he throwing last year?
-
We will see how good of a coach we got in week 1 he put all his eggs on defense I dont know if jasper will score on gilmer. but lets wait until after the pre-season to predict this one..
