If I recall correctly............Dayton is "West of the Trinity". Right along with the BH Eagles.
OK...so Dayton is west of the Trinity River. Big deal. What is your point?
-
Quick...someone start a few West Brook threads to keep jsmitty happy.
Relax, man. I'm twice your age and I can remember when West Brook was "THE team" in southeast Texas. Most of the people on this board who have been around at least as long as me can vouch for the attention that WB once received. They've had many disappointing seasons since the early 90's, and now they have a lot more to cheer about. The turnaround season they had last year was amazing. I expect more good things to come with Coach Stump there. If you're not hearing enough West Brook conversation, then start some threads, and recruit a few of your friends to join in the chats. There doesn't seem to be very many WB alums here to start with, so that's why you don't hear much.
Just for the record, there has always been a level of prestige with WB to many of us here.

It's interesting how Ozen, a magnet school with many advantages, is now the third best team in Beaumont.

scooter, I've read your posts on the message boards for a long time. I've never known you to make brash predictions like this. Why now, and why this matchup?
I'm not one to make game predictions about my school, but I will say this. There's no way Kirbyville hangs 35 points on WO-S' defense. We haven't given up more than 14 in a game all year. If a team as strong as Dayton could only muster 9 points, Kirbyville won't get to 35. That's a safe bet.

Congratulations Eagles. Nice way to start in 4A. BH continues to improve and Forest Brook is still Forest Brook.

Coaching Coaching Coaching.... If Neumann ever retires and Nederland doesnt grab a great coach... the 0-10 years could return.. lets hope not...
even teams with great players can have losing seasons if the coaching isnt there...
PA Lincoln was proof of that.

Good one! Glad I'm miles away.

BHFAN wrote: Again take a pill and go see your therapist. You are a Whiner plain a simple. If you would just let it go then it would be gone!!! The other WOS posters at least on this board have let it go why can't you. What will it take??? Would you like me to round up those that you despise and we can have a cage match? Would that please you????
Congratulations on keeping this "whine fest" going.
Please...spare me the silly "let it go" theme. There is nothing to "let go" of. You made the comparison of me to kvilleballa, and that's what you've turned this into. I guess you don't see the difference between proper English and the way he speaks, nor do you see his dazed and confused remarks about the football teams he spoke of. The most confusing thing of all is why I'm bothering to reason with you.
Let's see if you can "let it go".

gringo, check your PMs.

I'm just trying to give some assurance to khs that we understand his dilemma. It's not his fault that there's one bad apple in the bunch.
BHFAN, get real for once. My comments have been nowhere near the kinds of things kvilleballa, Jody, and Barker have stated. Let's look at a small sampling of things these three people have said, shall we...
1) Picking WO-S to lose every time they step on the field.
2) Saying that BH was going to give WO-S some "real competition", then constantly backtracking by saying "scrimmages don't count†(oh, but they would have "counted" in your mind if BH had won).
3) Saying WO-S is “overratedâ€.
4) Saying WO-S "isn't a factorâ€.
5) $*%#@!! (words that can’t be repeated).
Go look at my past posts. I have never made inflammatory remarks about what WO-S would do to other teams...nor have I constantly picked other teams to lose for no other reason than spite...I've not made ridiculous predictions about games...and I've used no foul language...so, if you'll use a little common sense, you'll see there is no comparison between my posts and those of kvilleballa, Jody, and Barker. Those three are in a class by themselves.
What's amusing is that when you don't like something that is said you like call it "whining". That's weak...think of something a little less childish next time.

No problem, khs.
Barbers Hill has Jody and Barker, so at least your school's poor representation is only half that number of people. We know "balla" doesn't speak for Kirbyville, just like the aforementioned clowns don't do the same for BH (thank goodness for them). Heck, those two just wish their team can become good enough to beat a team like Kirbyville, after two years of playoff losses.
Don't sweat it. We know Kirbyville has a good team and will be a factor in the district. Looking forward to Oct. 6.
-
You mean...they have "athletes" in Lumberton?
Just kidding...
My vote is TJ Light.
-
OK...for all the Barbers Hill fans on this site...WE DIDN'T SAY THIS. It came from a Dayton Bronco fan.
Sorry, bronco, but it had to be said because one glance at this by some BH fans (two in particular) will be translated as "WO-S is bragging again."
They never learn.
Your confidence is appreciated. However, we're a lot more cautious to think that. We ran into a buzzsaw last year in the Wimberley Texans. Of all our years in 5A and 4A, no one ever whipped us like they did...not until we became a 3A team did we witness such a beating. We like our chances to make the playoffs (notice to BH fans: I didn't say "win district") and we like our chances to make a run in the playoffs (notice to BH fans: I didn't say "win state") if we stay healthy, but a state title is a dream and few get to realize it. We'll see what happens.

Was it Fred or Chris?
Chris, I believe.

WO-S had this kid with the last name of Norwood who played in '83. He was one of the most unheralded defensive players in WO-S history, but he is remembered to this day.
By reading these lists, there's hardly any mention of players from the '60's, 70's, and early 80's. WO-S had an offensive lineman who played between '79 and '80 named Ray Rogers. He was an all-state lineman and one of the best we ever had (played college ball at UH). Another player on those same teams was Lawrence Hardin, a first team all state pick at safety.
I know there are people on this board who remember some of the great players from the earlier PNG, Hebert, South Park, and Bridge City teams. What are some names from these teams?
-
LOL...Patton is no where close to being the best rb to ever come through Jasper..probably not even in the top 20...
Unless, I missed something, I didn't see anyone mention Mr. Hunt from Jasper who played on the '86 team. I've seen most Jasper teams play since that year, and he was the best Jasper RB IMO.

WO-S needs help in the kicking game.
Has anyone scouted the hallways for the best 5'2" soccer player? There's at least one in every school.
-
About Bevil's injury, was it just a stinger? I hear he had a separated shoulder.
-
Thanks for clarifying what you meant. As far as the polls that "matter", my original point was that the statewide polls are the ones people are watching, not some little setx poll. That's all I was saying. Of course, in the big picture, none of them "matter".
-
No doubt Bevil's injury had a huge impact on our offensive play. They were out of sync all night. It didn't help that we had trouble with the center to QB snap and too many penalties. Still, having to "gut out" a win like this will only help the team down the road.
After so many good teams lost this week - Nederland, West Brook, Central, Dayton, Bridge City, Hamshire Fannett, Ozen, and Memorial - it's a relief to sweat out a win like this. Whew...
-
You know, more people are aware of the statewide polls than the silly poll conducted on this site. I had forgotten about the setx poll until you mentioned it. I've never paid much attention to it because it's meaningless. So, clear your mind just a little and realize that when someone mentions "top 10" they're almost always referring to the one that matters - the statewide poll.
-
If this doesn't get BH in the top ten next poll then nothing will!!! BH has had a lot critics on this board all do to what they had seen in a scrimmage!! Well boys do you believe yet or does Bellville stink too?? BH's D was on fire! This is the best Defensive squad I have seen come through BH they were again very phisical tonight causing several fumbles and interceptions!!! And thank you coachs for figureing out that you have Mason Fisher on your team!!!! This guys was awesome tonight catch at least 150 yards in the air and grabing 2 interceptions on Defense!!! Congrats Defense and Offense on a complete game> Bellville has a good team and will make some noise in 3A like they already have.
You had to bring up the scrimmage again, did you?
I can't comment much on Bellville because I haven't seen them play and don't know much about them. So, do they stink? I don't know.
Your post goes to show...once again...that you have an inflated opinion of your team. I grant you that BH has made improvements since the scrimmage spanking, but now you're insisting they be ranked in the top 10? NO WAY Barbers Hill is among the 10 best teams in the state. Have you forgotten that BH is now in 4A? Get real.
-
With so much talk about the new local 3A district having teams like Silsbee, Jasper, WO-S, and BC, I think the way Hamshire Fannett has played so far has turned some heads.
-
The way Bay City has played so far is a bigger surprise to me than Jasper's less than stellar play. They've given up a LOT of points the last two weeks. Defense has always been a staple of their program. I hear they're a young team. Still, on any given day...
Bay City will not/should not be taken lightly.

The phantom TD by Bridge City last year against WO-S right before halftime. The replay on TV clearly showed the ball bounced off the ground and then into the arms of a BC player while he was on his back. The ref was standing right there, and he still got it wrong.
