Any news on LU Softball Program
Javelina replied to Mr.Green Jeans's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Talked to a few girls on the vollyball team and I think they were saying beach vollyball but do not quote me on that -
I kind of like the juco approach but would not rely on it after the first 2 years. You can't have everyone on your roster be green to the college game. The Juco players can teach the incoming freshman what to expect when it is the real deal.

Saw a picture in the paper and they had all white helments but no logos yet.

Kirbyville and Buna was a big rivalry. Burning letters on each others field, hanging schools sign over the others

The one high school coach you would want to coach your team?
Javelina replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would want Allen Weddell. Had a 103-13 record at La Marque from 1990-1997. Five straight state title game appearances from 93 to 97 winning the last three. The man is a defensive genius in my mind. -
PA combined TJ, Linclon, and SFA cause of the district plan they had in place. The enrolment of all three high schools fell below a certian level of students and when that happen it was more cost effective to consolidate them into one school. It had nothing to do with trying to create a super power on the football field.

I know SMU has tons of money but they are not competitive on the field. They could possibly be one of the top teams if the new "SWC" was formed and it would help build up there program and with Jones running the show up there who knows what would happen.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing the SWC brought back. Lamar, SHSU, SFA, UTSA, Texas State, UTEP, Rice, North Texas, SMU and La Tech would make a good conference i think. North Texas has not been in the top half of the Sun Belt for a few years now. UTEP and SMU can't compete in C-USA for some reason and La Tech has not been competitive in the WAC for years and it would cut down on there travel budget getting out of the WAC. As far as a bowl game for the conference they could take a spot in the Independence Bowl cause it seems like the SEC and Big 12 have not had a representative from both conferences in the same year for a while but could be mistaken. Besides the Independence Bowl was created for the Southland Conference champion to begin with.

from a former construction worker the rain had prob slowed them down two to three days but making a foundation is the slowest part of building any structure. After they get the foundation down the skeleton of the building should go up fairly quick. As far as the turf goes the dirt prob has to dry out a little before the lay down the turf.
