1. If, and I stress the word if, the Jasper folks let Barbay get the program running his way, starting at the junior high level, you will be back to getting the respect that the name on the jersey used to command.  He had consisten, solid offensive units at both HD and Anahuac.  The last couple of seasons he had injuries to key players (QB and a D1 RB) that really hurts a small school.  With all the factors I know of, he is digging in at Jasper for the long haul.  Get behind him Dawg fans and support your coach and your team.  You have someone with a great pedigree and a winning track record leading your program.  I'll be skipping a few of my Buna Coog games to check out the Bulldogs this year, so good luck!
2. We won't be any lower in the district standings than we have been the past few years.  Leaving a district with Newton, EC and Anahuac, this district shouldn't feel a whole lot different to us, might even sneak up on a few teams.  We will compete, maybe not as well as we would like against WO-S, Silsbee and BC, just simply due to numbers and speed, but the Coogs should more than hold their own and win 3 or 4 district games, putting them in a battle for 3rd place.  Can't wait to see some new faces in Cougar Stadium this season.  GO COUGARS!
3. Great hire for Jasper.  He has won and made the playoffs with both H-D and Anahuac.  This might be his equivalent to what Newton was for his dad.  Find a place close to home, close to both sides of the family and keep putting quality squads out there year in and year out.  Bulldog football players, get ready for some hardwork.  Bulldog parents, let him coach, let him take your program where it needs to be, where it has been.  Give him the time to set the groundwork.  Good luck to Coach Barbay and his staff.
4. When I think of H-J, I think of basketball and golf.  However, lest we forget that the Hawks play in a district with the likes of Silsbee, WO-S, H-F, OF and BC.  This past season this was a pretty tough district from top to bottom. Year in and year out, Silsbee and WO-S are always tough.  BC, OF and H-F have their ups and downs as well.  BC had them just a few years ago.  H-F contiues to struggle.  It is cyclical, but community support should always remain a constant, whether you win or lose.  These are kids from your community, your churches, sons and or daughters of your neighbors.
5. That's how I thought the game went.  Maybe I misspoke (a word I borrowed from Andy Pettite), what I should have said was the EC defense dominated the Newton O.  My bad EagleFan01.  Newton is a very solid team, we played them great in the first half, then the speed and power took over and they ran away with it.  It was my opinion that they were dominated by EC, in your opinion they were not.  90 % of what is on these boards are opinions.  I was very impressed by the Newton squad as I was with Anahuac and EC.  Hopefully, I won't be as impressed by Woodville this next week, but from their performances, I probably will.  Once again, no disrespect was meant from any of my statements.
BCoogs I understand your frustration and there are a number of decisions that have puzzled me throughout this season.  But in defense of the coaches, the team we played last night, not only shutout Anahuac, a team that beat us by 3 TD's , but also dominated Newton, another team that beat us by 21+ points.  At least in those 2 games, we were in them until halftime.  We were never in this game, EC is that good.  EC is no doubt the class of this district and has deservedly won the district crown again.  Congrats to EC on another title and good luck to you in the playoffs.  Lavergne and Roberts had solid perfomances among others for the Bucs tonight.  As for the Coogs, you never gave up, you guys got alot of heart and whether you know it or not, win or lose, all of us fans from Buna are proud of you.  Keep up the hard work and lets' beat the Eagles next week.  GO COUGARS!!!

Take it easy with that statement there.. They did not dominate Newton it was a close game all the way to the end..
that is ture Newton had the game won till the nut cuting than they gave it away, but all that matters is EC got the W

WaterBOY does not know what he is talking about. EC was never behind and Newton never had the game won. If anybody was trying to give the game away it was EC handing Newton 14 points. 7 in the first half with snap going over punter into endzone and 7 in 2 half with EC having a chance to fall on a fumble but tried to pick up and missed, then Newton picked it up for about 70 yard TD. You must be thinking about a different game. Newton didn't give anything away.

6. Aside from football, another great effort was put forth last night as well, as fans from both teams donated a total of over $4000, collected by cheerleaders in the stands to be donated to the Julie Rogers Foundation in an effort to fight breast cancer.  No matter what the score was, two small communties came together for one cause last night.  The performance by the EC band to honor all current cancer patients and all cancer survivors was a touching moment.  Well done!

8. With our impending move back to 3A, I am in favor of this proposal.  It would probably put Buna, HJ, OF, HF all headed North, but should make for a very competitive district.  The spread between us and Silsbee, WO-S and Bridge City is just too much.  Our numbers are a bit out of whack this year thanks to an extremely large freshmen class (over 140, compared to graduating class of '11 with 90).
9. This is why sometimes I hate even getting on here.  It doesn't matter if it's Anahuac, Warren, West Brook, or Nederland, if a team loses or performs badly, it's the coaches fault.  Sometimes it is, no doubt, but if the personnel you have aren't performing, you lose.  Adjustments can be and should be made true, but it still comes down to personnel.  Anahuac has lost their D1 runner to injury, their starting QB to injury (re: no passing game) and are basically relying on 2 players to get the job done.  We played them tough for 2 1/2 quarters last week and if we would have been able to stop those 2 guys in the 3rd quarter, it would have been a nailbiter till the end.  We didn't, EC did.  Congrats to EC, work harder AP, playoffs are still yours for the taking.
10. It really suprised me.  We travel well though, Buna always brings a big crowd and on most occasions have more in our stands than the home team does.  When we played Newton I made the comment about how sparse their crowd looked, but I think there were even fewer fans there this past Friday night for the game with Woodville.  Interesting...
11. First of all, caneyhead#1, a bit out of hand, huh?
Secondly, tigersvoice, sorry I got your panties in a knot, but just because it worked for Coldspring, doesn't mean it will work for your beloved Tigers.  We are not all dummies on here, some of us actually understand football and the importance of a game plan.  Good luck to both squads tonight, should be a good game.

you have to be joking ? losing 1 player would make him want to go find another job ?????/  C'MON MAN !!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you.  I was just offering up a few scenarios, geez, take it easy.  As far as the Tors, they actually outgained Lamar Consolidated by quite a few yards, but struggled in the red zone (Houston Texans disease).  wackpack made it sound like I had something against Coach V, not at all.  Met him a few times, seemed like a great guy.  No doubt a great coach.  Good luck to him and the Tors as he moulds them into a winner again.
