1. Not sure what OF stats were against EC, but they did run the ball (for most of the game) effectively against Jasper, but had several turnovers, penalties that cost them long runs and a few not so stellar decisions made.  Obviously I'm with everyone else on the predictions that Newtons' speed will be way too much for OF, but they are a gritty team with a few guys with decent speed coming out of the backfield.  Come district, they should battle Buna and BC for the third playoff spot behind WOS and Silsbee (in no particular order).

Kirbyville looking soo much better since the Cleveland game. I think they will start peaking come district time :)

Since the Cleveland game?  You mean last week against a turnover happy Buna team?  That is the only since Cleveland that exists.  Boy, boy....never ceases to amaze me... Good try kville 68, but your thread title just didn't work.
On another note...I watched Jasper last week and they are quite an impressive team.  They are by no means polished and a jacked up Wildcat crew could give them problems.  I expect it to be a good battle between these 2 HWY 96 residents.

Typical PNG, gotta love those folks, because they are so much better than the rest of us.  You know they won a state title back in....'75, if you talk to anybody wearing purple, you'd think it was the last 5 years in a row, not 37 years ago.  Geez, take a knee, have some purple pride, who cares what the pros do, your not the pros.  R E S P E C T.  I bet your catcher doesn't go out to talk to the pitcher after the home plate ump gets plunked either huh?  Unwritten rules, most of the rest of us follow them, but not PNG.

I for one, am not kneeling in the stands, so you must be talking about the 16 to 18 yr old boys that are on the field. When you become coach at PN-G then you may make the rules, but for now you are accusing young boys of not having respect, which I assure you they do. Why is "kneeling" a sign of respect? Are we suppose to do it because everyone else does?

C'mon everybody lets just "Tebow" together and calm down

Now your picking on my man Tebow..its on  ;D

Had to bring a little humor, people are getting riled up over nothing.

I have been to plenty of high school games where some of the teams do not even take a knee for their own players, unless it is very serious.

I have as well, but to come on here and state we don't mean any disrespect, but we are not going to kneel down for your injured, while most (I'd say more than 90%) of the teams do, then yes, it will rile some of us old schoolers up.
Tebow and the Jets played a great game Sunday.  Tebow is the reason Sanchez played so well, he knew Tebow was ready and waiting for him to mess up.

Kirbyville will win by at least 2 or 3 scores.

Yeah, well take that to the bank - - and be overdrawn in two days. :D
Hater, and you wonder why i speak up about my team on this forum. Again, Until Silsbee show me something besides losing the first or second round in the playoffs...i would recommend zipping it! ::)
Why don't you zip it til we win a game!!

Nuff said...getcha some business, what the heck does that mean?
6. Should be a good matchup in a renewed rivalry that was always the last game on the schedule when I was in school.  I kicked off to Kville back in '89, coach said don't kick it to Hadnot, I didn't, but they reversed it and he went 85 to the house for the TD anyway!  Still turned out to be a good game, we lost 12-6.  That was back when neither one of us were sniffing the postseason.  Go Cougars!
7. I don't think that due to one poster making a comment about 'schools of the blind' that in anyway, it makes the rest of us seem like we are putting down the Warriors win.  How about just spreading some karma to those who have applauded the win.  There seems to be alot more positive than the negative ones.  Don't be so sensitive...geez....
8. Obviously 'State' is nearly everyones goal at the beginning of a season, but for most just simply making the postseason is a big accomplishment.  Realistically, is EC a 'State' contender?  With the Casey addition and Roberts returning, they have an inside track to another district title, but 'State'?  I think that as stated earlier, luck plays as big a part as talent does, of course, you have to have the talent to get the chance to have luck play it's part.  EC has talent, but 'State' talent?
9. Gotta like the Dawgs in this one, although, OF did give EC a solid game Friday night, with several key players out for disciplinary reasons.  I'm not sure that EC's line was as physical as Jaspers' will be, but it should be a good game to see.  OF saw Liberty in a scrimmage and played heads up with them, Jasper spanked Liberty last week.  I'll be there, swapping from Jaspers' side to OFs' side, got friends and family on both sides.  Good luck to both teams.  Skipping Buna/Kville, don't really want to be around there as the old HWY 96 rivalry gets renewed!  Not much of a brawler ya know...

I call that good scheduling!

Exactly, thats what Warren has needed for years.  They are by no means a small 2A school, but getting a few wins will do wonders for the kids and fans.  I have always rooted for Warren, except when they play us.  Good luck to the Warriors the rest of the way!

I wish this game would happen again and it might with Coach Darrell Barbay in Jasper. I feel like both coaches would have more turn-out for football because of this rivalry. Two good programs equal a heck of a game. jmho
Turn out as in 'Fans in the Stands" or players?  I can see the fans, but doubt kids will play just to be able to play Newton.  Those that desire to play football and put in the work are out there, those that choose to sit at home during August workouts, will more than likely continue to sit at home even if a Jasper/Newton rivalry is renewed.  Noone endures August to play one team....JMO...
12. Get the Jumbotron up, then after football season is over, use it as drive in theater.  You could show 'Deliverance' every Saturday night so the boys from Caneyhead would have a reason to come off the river.  It would be nice to see a movie as I drive by Tiger Stadium.
