  1. Good job Bulldogs. Did what it took to win. Good luck in the playoffs. We make way too many errors to go much further.
  2. Grasshopper? My hop left a long time ago! My opinion comes from being around Chuck Young for a many a year and that was the philosophy he used. It seemed to work for him. I suppose the two different ideas are just that - different ideas. Some like Ford, some like Chevy. If you are passing out keys..........
  3. If the two are equal, why would you play a Senior and sit the underclassman on the bench? He needs to be getting better and you can't do that while sitting down. That Senior will not be back. Playing him in front of the underclassman does not benefit your team. You should not be on the field just because you are older. Someone mentioned earlier that the older player probably has a better mental game. If that is the case, then the two are not equal. Your mental game is just as important as your physical one. If the older player is left out, that's life. This is not an easy game. It's simple, but not easy. If it was easy, everyone would play!
  4. I like Jasper - it's a great place to be! BUT - sorry Bulldogs, as my old track buddy (and ex-Bulldog)Jose' Moore used to say, "Too tough." That's going to be Bridge City on Friday - just too tough! BC - 6 Jasper - 2
  5. Underclassman - all things being equal.
  6. Time for the cream to rise to the top. Good game early, BC pulls away late and wins 9 - 3.
  7. THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
  8. BC - Jasper - Silsbee I don't know if any of the three deserve to be in the top ten so I would not get too excited about beating two top ten teams in the last two weeks. Having said that, last years champion had around 14 losses so what the heck do I know!
  9. If Jasper's defense doesn't go south, they should win 4 - 2.
  10. Before you guys start "throwing down" over who is more feminine or sincere - help me with a playoff question. I was under the impression that if you finished the district with the same number of wins and losses as another team - for those of you who are sports challenged, that means tied - you played a game to see who finishes ahead, regardless of who beat who during the regular district season. Anyone know for sure how that works? It was that way years ago so someone tell me if it has changed! ???
  11. Just like with Kirbyville - BC by a bunch; at least 10 - 0
  12. There is alot more to it than "x's and o's. Baseball is a finite game. You usually have a particular play in a particular situation that is the best. Many professionals know what to do in those given circumstances as well as parents sitting on the sideline or coaching Little League. In the high school game, coaches have a great deal more to handle. There is equipment purchases, budget (or lack thereof), bosses (ever seen an AD that did not know where the baseball diamond was? or used the outfield for scrimmages?), classroom teaching, field maintenance, and the list goes on. If you screw up a Little League lineup or bunt call, you may be chastised by a few parents but that is it. As a high school coach, those same mistakes are the difference between being employed or unemployed. I agree with the statement that there are summer league coaches that know the game very well, but sometimes there is more than meets the eye and it is different when your livelyhood depends on it.
  13. Hey Coop, Why did he take his name out? I have a friend there that said he would have gotten the job but doesn't know why he bailed. Have you heard?
  14. Maybe they should have kept it simple - like stealing the bear! Sorry LCM! I hope the Statute of Limitations has run out!
  15. BC by a bunch - tough year for WOS.
  16. H-J because OF will not hit enough to take this one.
  17. I'm going with Jasper - Schooling is good but Jasper is better overall.
  18. Count me in. No one deserves it more. I'd love to have tobacco juice spit on my shoes just one more time for not paying attention when he was talking. He is the kind of man I always hoped I would be and when you played for him - you would follow him anywhere. I cried when he left. Let's do whatever it takes to get this done! ;D
