  1. Kicked our behind in College Station in the freezing rain!
  2. You can talk about the last out all you want. Players are taught to watch the coach all the way. They practice stopping on a late signal from the third base coach. The signal wasn't late, the kid fell down, it happens. We lost because we could not field the ball and throw it to first base with any consistency at all. We should not have even been playing the third game! You guys need to get off the coaches back. We made more errors in three games than Billy made his entire career. Now, great season guys. The entire community could not be prouder. You have left us all with memories we will not forget!
  3. I must respectfully disagree. Never make the third out of an inning at third base or at home - especially with your big gun on deck. You literally take the bat out of his hands.
  4. There are Austin quality teams being left home in every region. Falfurrias and Lubbock Cooper can beat anybody in the State. I don't have to tell you about our region... Not to mention Carthage!
  5. You guys keep saying what Coach Bryant "can't" do. You are not informed. Given the leeway to do things his way, you would see some differences with personnel. Also, you can't win today without putting up with a little bit of "prima donna." This is not 1970 where the coach determines how long your hair is, when you go to bed, what you eat,..."
  6. Gosh you guys make me tired! There was a ball game played (sort of) in front of all those fans, wasn't there? The intentional walk was 100% the right move. Getting the third out by sending a runner to the plate with Johnny on deck was not. We played not to lose instead of playing to win and putting a team away. This is the Regional Final! Jasper did not get here by beating the Silsbee Quilting Club for Women over 65! (No offense to you Tiger fans intended. The Quilters actually play very good defense - soft hands I guess!) If you leave a good team in the hunt, they will beat you!
  7. I don't know how significant the game was but does anyone remember the two-day affair played by WOS and BC? Rain and lightning caused the game to be stopped and finished the next day. BC had the Mighty Mustangs on the ropes and was on the verge of revenging all of those tail-whippin's over the years when the game was stopped. BC came up on the short end the next day. That was probably the best fourth place team ever to come out of that district. Les Johnson was the coach here - glad he's gone. Took the best group of athletes to come through here in 20 years and could not get out of the District!
  8. In 1978, we lost two very tough games in district to the Jasper Bulldogs and watched as they continued on to Austin to play for the Championship! Back then, only one team went. No matter how good your second place team was, you had to buy a ticket to see the playoffs. That is not true any more! The UIL has seen fit to give the 2007 version of the Bridge City Cardinals the "second bite at the apple" that we never got! Let's take full advantage of it! GO BIG RED! This time, make the Jasper Bulldogs buy those tickets!
  9. Anyone know why players from Klein Collins and from The Woodlands are playing for the North?
  10. Some of you guys should be embarassed! Great game - still one to go. You nay-sayers should re-evaluate your position.
  11. Stringer - No Contest! Looking at all aspects of pitching, he is the clear winner this year.
  12. Carthage is undefeated and that is tough to do at any level. I don't think they have played but two or three quality teams but they have played some of those quality teams more than once and have won them all. Averaging 11 runs per game means you can pound the patsies but being undefeated and having beat some good teams means you are pretty good yourself. Bridge City should have a tough time winning this one. Ace to Ace should be the game of the year. Also, Carthage does have one legitimate 90+ fastballer but according to someone I know that lives there and has seen them play several times, the other kid is probably 86-87 consistantly. Still, that's nothing to sneeze at! They will be tough to beat two out of three. I think we definately got the tough end of the bracket!
  13. Is there not a baseline issue here? The runner clearly ran out of the baseline to avoid the tag. So far that he missed the plate as he went by it. Yes we dropped the ball but the runner should have been out. Anyway. we left them in the game entirely too long. They all have a good eye on the ball. We need to score like we did early on this season and play good defense! Bow your neck guys!
  14. I never said Bryant was Coach of the Year - just that I did not see that many mistakes.
  15. Texas City - they have seen good pitching all year.
  16. Hey injun, What mistakes? I have seen every game this year and it looked like Baseball 101 to me. I am not the Coach Bryant pep squad but I can call 'em like I see 'em.
  17. WILL SOMEBODY PLAY SOME BASEBALL FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Hey Homer - with that middle infield, my sister could have won the district!!!!!! ;D ;D Congrads to the Bruins and Coach Walton.
  19. Coach Griff - being from BC it really hurts to say that. Green in Vidor had a good year but if you know his players, he was expected to be better than .500. Griff was left out of everything at the beginning - he is the coach of the year in my book for this season.
