  1. Not sure on the game result but Wheatley still gets 1 seed with a loss. The other loss they had was forfeited by Yates for ineligible players. May have had the twos in the whole game or did not open play book. Either way they will be a better team than Furr but we can get this done. Seniors will step up.

  2. Definitely not a good game for us.  That makes two games in the mud where we can’t move the ball. Hats off to LCM QB for being able to make the throws he made in those conditions. Less his efforts, the game would not have been with watching.

LCM had the worst field in the area back in the 80”s and it was better back then than it is now.

  3. Thanks. Had a pretty rough go tonight. Don’t know how your QB kept a grip but he threw some dang pretty balls. That made a huge difference in the game.  Plus he pulled off a draw for 30. We knew that was coming and missed it. He’s gonna be really tough next year.  Run blocking was impossible for both sides with the field conditions. Thought it was gonna be tough as we had the same issues earlier this year against Concordia. That field made the conditions tonight look good. Good luck next week!

  4. Well since we didn’t get the 1 seed last week, 4 seed may actually be better. 2 and 3 are not good. Midlothian and Carthage on that side. Also, looks like North Forest May end up 4 seed and play Splendora. Not a great team if you look at the whole season but they have a D1 commit O lineman and a pretty decent QB. Picked up one of the top receivers in the nation a few weeks ago. Have not lost since he showed up. Will be at A&M in two years.  Gonna be another Mike Evans.

Will not know how everything will shake out til after tomorrow night but I think our district will match up well in the first round.

  5. Well that game is over.  It did not go our way.  This one will not mean much but both teams should be ready to take out some frustration heading into playoffs.  On paper, based on common opponents, this game should be close.  I do not think it will be.

  6. Congrats to Splendora.  They played tough with almost no mistakes. They were the better team tonight. QB is a gamer and played great tonight. 41 had big plays on both sides of the ball.  Raiders made a few costly mistakes but played hard and took it to the wire after a rough first half.   Raiders had their chance late and Splendra stepped up. This was an awesome game. $5.00 was a heck of a deal for all that got to see it.

That's pretty fair Alpha...I think this game could potentially be so close as to be decided just like the LC-M / Splendora game...whoever gets the ball last will win the game. I hope both teams stay safe and play their hearts out. Can't wait for Friday Night! This is the game I've picked to go watch for the week, so I'm looking forward to a good one!

Thanks for the encouragement Alpha. No doubt  your boys and the other 5A teams have made us better.

Glad to have you Smash.  We have not played a game with this much on the line in ten years so I will guarantee one thing.....you are gonna see a war and 110% effort from the L-Trrain.

Splendora is also leading the district in rushing yards at 2300 this season and Lumberton has 2000 so far.

My bad on if I was not clear on the stats.   I was only considering the district games.  Pretty sure we are right at 400 for those.  Not sure on the Splendora QB and interceptions thus far.  I have watched some film on them and have not seen one.  He is pretty dang good.  However, since the first quarter of the Huffman game, Lumberton has played lights out on both sides of the ball.  This is gonna be a good one and the team that comes out on top will have played their best game of the year.  Will take 100% effort and a break or two to get the W.

  9. You are right and he got what he was looking for.  We should just keep talking about the game and ignore what is not football as you would probably much rather do as well.   So here is a question for Soulja and anyone else that would like to give their prediction:

Assuming Splendora cannot run the ball any better than our last 3 district opponents (Less than 100 yards) and we run to our average (About 400 yards).......

Can Lumberton win with 1 pick per 100 yards given up through the air ( I think we have 15 on the season with 3 returned for TD)?

  10. As the thread topic is titled, I am pretty sure this one will decide who takes the DC.  Preseason talk was the Lumberton/Huffman game was going to be the one that decided who would finish at the top of D11.  Not sure why Splendora was not considered as I had them picked as a toss up with Lumberton from the beginning.

This one will come down to who wins on defense and who is able to make adjustments.  Lumberton will move the ball on the ground and Splendora will connect through the air.

Lumberton leads the district in run defense but has probably given up as many passing yards as any other team.  However, they lead in interceptions and have three scores off of them.  One of which began a run of only allowing 17 points total in the last 10 quarters.  As stated in an earlier post, the return of one key defensive back has made a huge difference against the pass.

Splendora will bring a balanced attack that will certainly challenge the Raider defense but, ultimately,  they will have to rely on the pass to be successful.

Pretty sure the lights on the score board will get used next Friday night but I see Lumberton taking this one by 7 with a defensive score being the difference.

Isn’t Lumberton using a JV Sophomore as QB?

He is a sophomore but has been on varsity all season in different roles.  However, he has played exclusively at the QB position since the start of district and has taken almost all of the snaps. He is progressing nicely and has protected the ball well over the last two games. Expecting improvement again this week.
