  1. well the doc is in...<---(well I dont think thats gunna catch on...lol)I understand why people may be disgruntled about this score, but what do you expect them to do lay down and sit there? Buna is not that great of a team, and Kountze is a VERY good young team, it wouldnt be hard to score 108 especially how athletic Kountze is, lay-ups can add up after awhile...

I didnt see the game but Im sure that was the matter, I mean look at other teams scores against Buna, none of there games have even been close losing most by 30 or more..so obviously there are not that good...

Someone had the same arguement about the Big Sandy/Evadale game when it was 81-7, people saying "thats just so un-sportsman like', and "couldn't they call off the dogs"...but yo u cant help a team put the ball in the hole, just like its hard to stop a team from scoring when they are wide open.

  2. Thanks Coop, where else can balding men rant and rave over sports during work while having a deadline coming up?, or where else can a High Schooler have a failing grade in class but yet still have great Karma, no where else but at SETXSPORTS.COM!!!!!  :D

  4. Who won the game ------DR THE C--- ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dr. the C????? Is that the new nick for me?

well the final was 81-63 Goodrich...the game started off tight with Brookeland doing what they were suppost to, neither team could find the bottom of the bucket. Brookeland made a good run out of halftime, bringing it within 10 i believe, but the seem to just spontaneously combust....They have Chester tomorrow to end district then I believe have a warm up game, then off to the playoffs...How do yo see them fairing from there CAT?

  5. what I believe he was trying to say is that HD's coach get more out of and average player, meaning that he gets more out of the regular role player, the not Overly athletic player or the basketball smart player, He's saying he gets more out of his players, I dont believe he is knocking on any players saying that they are all just average or mediocre

(make sense?...I dont know Im rambling this morning, wheres my COFFEE!) ???

Football are you trying to pick on arguement??? did You wake up on the wrong side of the barn this morning? ???  ;D :D :D :D

Just playing with ya, I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid...

  6. To compare these to districts is just rediculous, I mean I haven't seen the teams from the 24-2A play this year but I have seen Newton, CC, and Woden play...I believe Newton does have a strong team that has alot of athletes that should be reckoned with, but do they have basketball smarts?, CC on the other hand from the teams Ive heard that district 24-2a teams have played and beaten, I believe that they really wouldnt stand a chance and Woden grant it, they have good school tradition, but I dont believe they are at any point comparable to any of the top teams in 24-2a....My vote is 24-2A

  7. Dickie V, Well the new coach at Brookeland is Eddie Henson, Great guy and a great coach....well they are currently 23-7 and are going to finish n 2nd behind Goodrich in district.

He's doing a great job with these kids, bringing discipline that is well needed, the team has the physical talent to go some where, but over the past 4 or 5 years, (no mean to disrespect any coach before Henson) Brookeland has seemed to just go out there and play 'Ball' as if its just an organized pick up game, and Brookeland had the talent to get by just doing that, but could never make it over the hump...But with Coach Henson in town now, he is going to establish and is establishing Brookeland as a force to be reckoned with...

He is doing new but GREAT things for this basketball program, And I hope he will continue to for many years to come.

  8. The big kids they had LAST SEASON, are gone...YES GONE...I mean it really doesn't matter, because Friendswood is struggling just to get IN the playoffs...What is BIG SANDY gonna do CAT? How are you looking?  ;)

  9. Lets see can anyone find a list of players from lower classifications (3A-under) to go on and play at a MAJOR D-1 school????

Imagine if J'Covan played 2a ball! That would just be plum rediculous, and embarrassing to everyone else...lol

Come on ya'll it didnt take me that long to realize it, and just quit being so stubborn, DickeyV knows a thing or too bout what he's talking about...And unlike other people he doesnt care if his opinion offends someone or hurts their feelings, And every statement he makes is a rational and educated one, Is it his fault that he voices his opinion??? That he doesnt worry about stepping on peoples toes??? And unlike alot of people, he thinks before he speaks, he doesnt ever contradict himself, and he admits when he's wrong, and for people to call him an IDIOT, ya'll are just plum #@%&ing rediculous!

    IM OUT!!!! ;D

  10. Well, on another but familiar note, being involved with the judicial system my whole working career i've seen the athletes at the local schools, some more than others, think that just because they play football, basketball etc. they are bullet proof and exempt from obeying the laws.  These kids think that if they get caught breaking the law that just because they are an "athlete" that nothing is going to happen to them.  I've seen a few take the ride and some have taken that experience and learned by it and some really good athletes that could have had their educations paid for have taken those experience's and gone the opposite direction (still in and out of the pokey).  I got to see first hand back during the playoffs a particular athlete at a particular school was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, but totally involved in a particular matter, and the subject became beligerent towards the officers.  The officers didn't know who the athlete was or even cared but the athlete was so disrespectful and beligerent that the athlete took the ride.  Well, the next morning the Head Coach, knowing the circumstances of the arrest bonded the athlete out of jail because they had a playoff game THAT NIGHT!  Needless to say the athlete got to play the game and was never even disciplined by the school, IT IS THE LAW THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT BE NOTIFIED IF A STUDENT IS PUT IN JAIL.  Is this the kind of examples that are being set in our schools?  Surely not.  Anyways, this whole incident reminded of that, there is always going to be favoritism in our school districts.  What this kid needed was a good @$$ whoopn'and expelled from the team.

I agree with this post all the way til the last sentence...So you believe the student athlete should be penalized???

He was doing what any high school athlete would, he wanted to play...I know if the coach told me I could play, I sure as hell wouldnt contradict him, I would get out there and do what I love to do....

  11. yea big sandy did play very well i give them that #12 can rain some threes. I think that sabine just had a bad game. Besides if sabine was able to play basketball year round theres no dout that sabine would have came out with a win!!!

I highly disagree with this post. Technicly a team can not hold practices for basketball before or after the instructed time by UIL...Yes they may play more basketball on there free time, bu should that be their fault???? Oh and how many of the SP players play football??? Are they key players??? Do the transfers play football? Im just wondering...
