2. Cat--you know how Leggett goes, last year all 5 starters seemed to be all Brand-New student/players...lol Ive seen what King had returning from his bench, but you know Goodrich has like 2 6'6 freak of athletes that just seem to come out of now where, that he says were on the team the year before... [even tho his entire bench is prob average of 4'8.... ;D ;D ;D Kings a great coach he's one of the few that can teach/coach heighth, speed, strength, athleticism  ;) :D :D

 4.
Coach Young doesn't recruit.  The incident in Brookeland is so unfortunate, and I feel bad for Coach Stapert. The students and families made poor choices that will affect all involved.
May I ask how it was a poor decision??
 5. Do you believe local town "support" or lack there of, affects the preformance of a team?.. may just be a stupid question with an obvious answer..
 6.

I thought I heard that 2 of these players moved to Jasper to play for Red Horse.
REDHORSE IS IN LEGGETT
Correct. I meant Coach Young.
cant get anything pat the cat man. ;) ;D ;D
 7. 25-1A-II 1. Goodrich [s]2. Brookeland[/s] 3. Leggett 4. Apple Springs 5. Chireno 6. Chester 7. Groveton Centerville Brookeland 2nd??.. i agree with that partly, more like 2nd to last in district. mark my words, and i have been a brookeland supporter in the past...wait, i take that back.. Last sounds more logical. :-X
 8. Im kind of disappointed tho, now i cant "debate" about the best 'Wildcats' in the East texas region with you...hahaha...
 9.
I thought I heard that 2 of these players moved to Jasper to play for Red Horse.
well yes 2 players did, but they are not the starters, yound freshman players but give them time they will be Goood!! if anyone had the chance of seeing the 99-00 wildcats, all the players i talked about are there younger brothers..
 10. oh yes go brookeland! nah, i'd say catch one of bhs games this year but then you'd try to find me for your 2 dollar refund.  :D
 11. Watch the Newton Eagles this year and next, if you do there will be a player that will catch your eye!!! Goodluck D.S. and the Newton Eagles!!
 12.

WS will have a good team this year thank to BROOKELAND.
Who is WS?
West Sabine. AND Catman, yes I agree they may be fairly good..an understatement
 13.
I'm not touching this with a 10 foot pole.
im starting to think, maybe i should have done the same.
 14.
It definitely won't help them. How much it hurts will depend on the AD that runs the show. The 2 sport athletes will be a little behind and a little banged up which will lead to some slower starts than they have had in the past. The AD is the absolute key to the long range success or continued success of the program.
I agree, and most of the time the AD will be the Head Football coach, so that will affect the bb program because Fball will now become the main priority.
 15. 0-everything. lets go wildcats!! :-\
 16. And this was sort of a two-headed topic, but most importantly the point I wanted to make was not so much sports related, but more to do with what is really go one in Brookeland. It is time that people outside of this "community" know whats going on in the school..
 17. No, Im not saying any of this stems from coach Stappert or his coaching style or him as I person...Playing at brookeland I have played against Spurger and every experience I have had with Stappert has been good. I said this is because of the way the school is being ran...I know a few of them for certain that they moved with their parents into different districts, the others being younger (jr. high) i am not sure...Anymore I know is just word of mouth...
 18. Well first of all i want to say I feel refreshed after my long hiatus from the Forum. I am glad I'm back! I have always backed the Brookeland Wildcats being a former student athlete of BHS. After always argueing and wishing that BHS would get the recognition they deserved, they open the season with the Preseason rank of #8. Now in the past I would have been stoked about that ranking and that they deserve the recognition. but now, that is the total opposite. I know the TABC ranks by the previous year and who is coming back, but thats the thing, No body from last years team is on the current Brookeland basketball team. Not all due to Graduation, being only 2 starters last year were seniors, but because of unlying reasons... Coach Stappert, the ex-Spurger Coach, now the Head Basketball Coach for the Wildcats, and for those who have seen last years team play, he was walking into a gem of an oppurtunity, a very talented team. But all of a sudden, things fell apart... 3 of the would-be returning starters transfer out of the District for reasons "unknown", and the six man from last yrs team who would most likely be a starter followed suit.. Now I must rewind to the summer before this school year, with 18 teachers from the year before not coming  back for this year, for many reasons tied to the direction that the Administration is heading. ok back on track, the bigger problem that must come to the notice of people, Every African-American Male in the Brookeland School Jr-Sr has transfered OUT..Coincedence?, I believe NOT.If this does not throw up a red flag I do not know what could. So though this is detrimental to the succes of Stappert at Brookeland High School, now that his projected Starting Five is all JV bench players from the previous year..But this is just  minut to what really lies inside this hidden "Gem" in the Woods...
 19. yeah thats true... Ive seen this kid play a handful of times...He is a beast out there, looks like a man among children..but the teams ive seen him play against, some even half a foot shorter than him shut him down n a game..im not knocking this cat..I mean hes committed to SFA...but he just doesnt know how to play that well...He posts up in the wrong spots on the court and doesnt use his heighth as an advantage as time..I believe SFA is going on potential. Im sure they'll have someone working 1on1 with him on footwork and post moves...And he may end up being someting nice to watch up n Nac. 6'8' and going to SFA? He must have just started playing basketball in high school and is slow, or the Big 12 would have gotten him. well like i was saying dove, this kid doesnt really have the post player mentality...or a guards mentality at that...he seems a lil slow but for a post man he is a pretty good speed...he just doesnt have any post moves, foot work...needs someone to just take him aside and work with him on being a post..right now the only thing going for him is size and potential...we will see i suppose...
 20. yeah thats true... 21. does anybody remember the cat by the name of Terry Teagle? 6'5" shooting guard from lil 1a Broaddus High School... Went to Baylor U. 16th overall pick by the Houston Rockets in '82 draft. Played with Rockets,Pistons,Warriors and Lakers. Career lasted 1982-1993. Dickie you know things like that happen all the time...haha Isnt that amazing though, just thinking about it? People need to admit, being from a smaller school, that you cant even compare 3a-under. to 4a and 5a. Its a total different type of game..I put money on it that in BMT Central or Ozen there is some cat who doesnt play for the high school.. can play at one of these lower class schools (3a-under)...I mean he may not cut it at central or ozen because he's either to small slow or basicly not good enough..I know first hand that this happens, Ive seen a few schools get in a move in that didnt play ball at his former school, but was able to dominate opponents in the lower classifications..
 22. man, its been awhile since ive been back here...man do ii miss it.. well my Brookeland Wildcats are in the 3rd round now! But Catman, guess who their next foe is....dundunduhhhhhh, Them dang Goodrich Hornets...hmmmm... The best time to come over the hornet hump is now.... Goodluck!! I'll be there...
 23. ehhh... :-X Wildcats play Leggett for Round 2. this time at the Pirates.
