Anyone past the 5th position are coin tosses.
Quick outs or hot crossing routes (beware of Butler though) might be a better option for opponents to get 5-7 yds rather than going for the deep ball. Unless we face a hoss of a line like Aledo I don't think their QB's will have the time to even throw deep too often. Best way to counter our speed is to have a QB that rolls out every play instead of trying to stay in the pocket. Don't forget Coach Jackson isn't opposed to having players go both ways if need be under certain circumstances. If I recall correctly Kendall Hill (WR 6'3") played safety at times but I'm confident the DB coach will make adjustments if need be or double up to try and counter height differences. Brian Allen (WR 6'3) could help out but I don't think that will occur very often if at all?

Our kids did what they did last year with almost 3A enrollment #'s and with an unprepared coaching plan for a good part of the year. LM will be better COACHED from the word go and yes, again they will have close to 3A enrollment #'s too. No need to be so envious because of the success we have. Now that we got rid of JORDAN and have a new staff those boys will be just as lethal if not better than last year. Our "D" coordinator isn't even playing games and I betcha the past JORDAN era where teams were putting up 40+ don't happen again this year.

 12.
That scrimmage was suspect twocents. Both teams really didn't have the chance to show anything.
Curious to know what you mean by the scrimmage was suspect? Perhaps both teams didn't show everything in their arsenals but by chance did you look at the final stats and also consider T. Wright didn't even suit up? We have that Ball transfer (Brooks) who is like a snowball rolling downhill and if need be Jacore Aldridge is quite adequate in place of TW. Aldridge may play more (slot) receiver than RB so that's yet to be determined? The last time we had a stable of RB's like we have this year were the 95, 96 & 97 seasons so I'm optimistic at our chances of heading back to Arlington?  No offense intended towards the Central fans...especially you Soulja! In the controlled scrimmage: Central ran 30 plays, gaining 23 yards, 1 1st down, 4 TO, 0 TD's LaMarque ran 30 plays, gaining 119 yards, 7 1st downs, 1 TO, 1 TD In the 12 minute live quarter: Central ran 12 plays, gained 21 yards, 1 first down, 0 TD's LaMarque ran 17 plays, gained 113 yards, 6 first downs, 2 TD's Total Central ran 42 plays, gained a total of 44 yards, 2 first downs, 4 TO's, 0 TD's LaMarque ran 47 plays, gained a total of 232 yards, 13 first downs, 0 TO's, 3 TD's

But we faced a great back from Shertz Clements in 2006 and took care of him in the semi's. Coaching, or the lack thereof cost us a title last year. I was on the search committee and every candidate who was at last year's game said we were too vanilla on defense. I don't see new DC Coach Lawrence doing anything of the sort.
I hear ya Tino....no disrespect towards Jonathan but after we turned the ball over 4 times on our side of the field I saw something occur with no other LM team. The coaches didn't have an answer for Gray, didn't make ANY adjustments at the half, threw in the white towel late 3rd and the once the players saw the coaches quit on them they followed suit! That my friend is not LM football!

Yates had to play catch up nearly the entire game. Lamarque is a very explosive and talented team... Taking them lightly will be a big mistake.
True LM did take down Yates (virtually in their back yard) who at the time was ranked #3 but we must be humble and not forget the Yates team we beat very decisively most of the game was not the same caliber as last years State Championship team. From here on there are NO EASY opponents left in the 4A bracket State wide and Dallas Lincoln, Ball and Dallas Kimball are all very good basketball teams that can make you look silly if you don't show up to play!

I have to give major props to Coach Mason for helping to turn around our BB program and keeping them competitive since his tenure has started as HC. I was especially impressed how he adjusted to Yates' press and didn't get into a track meet with them because IMO that is Yates' strong suit and although we did run with them at times we also played less full press "D" and maintained a scoring gap while playing half court "D" instead. I think Mason tried to emulate Wise's defensive philosphy but I honestly believe that he finally realized that you don't want to get into a track meet with a team that can match your intensity and speed after the 2 losses vs Ball. IMO, running that type of pressure "D" does a disservice to players who are going to play at the next level because that's simply not the style played at the college level typically.
 17.
If Silsbee can play with Ball, Nederland can too. Plus, Nederland has the size to match up with Ball. I think the key is Archie for Ball. He is the one that killed Silsbee, not Petteway or Evans (Petteway only had 8 points against Silsbee). Archie scored 27, going 13-14 from free throw line. I got Ball winning, but a very close one, by 4.
Archie had an exceptional game vs Silsbee but on a larger scale percentage wise Archie is not to be to be feared no where near as much as Petteway or Evans...they are consistent game changers that if not on the floor Ball doesn't perform as well as a team. Archie averages 12.1 PPG (65% at the line) while Petteway is at 19.2 PPG (69% at the line) and Evans is at 18.6 PPG (69% at the line). All three of them are a great trio no doubt and that smaller PG is really a quick and scrappy player that can be a pest defensively. It very well may be close and yes either team can win on any given night but I gotta go with Ball when all is said and done. I'm not a homer for my district and why in the world would I want to face Ball yet again after 2 losses (1 because they flat out beat us and the other because we blew a huge halftime lead and didn't show up for the 2nd half) already should LM get by Kingwood Park?
 18.
I am not really worried about what college any kid is going to...I have watched many Lincoln/South Oak Cliff and Plano HS teams that have made deep runs in the playoffs and not sent a single kid to play college ball... What I do know is that each team has their own style and from watching both teams over the past few months I think this should be a barn burner....Ball will try and pick the pace of the game up but Nederland has shown that scoring in transition is something they can do and slowing the game entirely is not what they have to do to win the game...Post play will be the difference in this game....If Nederland hangs on to the ball down the stretch I think they pull this one out....
So you're logic essentially is that a fictitious team with 5 DI commits vs a team of average/above average players with no DI commits is gonna lose a higher percentage of games if they played each other in 10 different games. Yea right! Why do you think our NBA ALL-Star caliber teams wipe the floor with their opponents on their way to GOLD medals. Also, if you go back and read my post I never stated that the ONLY thing Ned needed to do was slow the pace of the game down in order to be successful. Lastly Ball will not try to pick the pace up...they indeed will do so from the opening tip-off. Ball can run a half court offense effectively as well as their perimeter shooting is as good as any other team I've seen this year. I guess seeing is believing and both teams better be prepared for the large venue of the Merrill Center because the size and electric atmosphere is nothing like any game either team has played in.

 20.
Nederland will beat Ball in the same fashion they beat Humble.....nothing fancy just good solid basketball in the 2nd half and making pressure free throws...Ball is aggressive but this will ultimately lead to their demise, as Nederland will win this game at the free-throw line
Sure they can beat Ball on any given night but because it's do or die now both Ball and Nederland will come to play. However, Humble is no Ball High as Petteway is going to Texas Tech while Evans is going to Texas A&M next year. The talent you'll be facing is far greater than what Ned has run into before. Slow the pace of the game down, get their big 2 in foul trouble and beat their press and Ned's chances are much better. It's not an impossibility for Ned to pull off an upset, just not likely IMO.
 21.

Maybe Ball comes out to Katy on Friday overlooking Nederland a bit and looking forward to district opponent LaMarque in the Regional Final game. If this happens and Nederland takes advantage of it, watch out.
Very well could be the case ;) From the games I saw, they warm-up cocky and like they have already won the game.. Almost cost them against Silsbee.. If they dont bring their "A" game, Nederland will beat them
I doubt very seriously that Ball will overlook Nederland in anticipation of the 3rd match-up vs LM because Coach Temple won't allow them to do so. During district play after beating LM (2nd time) they came out flat against Dawson (83-74) and it made the final district race interesting. However it's win or go home now for the season and honestly speaking I just cant see Nederland pulling this one out. The trio of Petteway (6'6"), Evans (6"5) and Josh Brown (5'6") are the heart of this teams nucleus and the other 2 starters aren't slouches either. Petteway (19.2 PPG.) is a beast and if he get's hot from the outside it can make for a long night. He also isn't afraid to take it to the hole and slam it down your throat either. Evan's is the focal point of their team offensively (18.6 PPG) and defensively (2.6 blocks avg). Ball prefers to run you ragged and their press "D" leads to many fast breaks resulting in easy layups or slams. Because they are so quick and run that press they can turn a ten point deficit around in a blink of an eye. Jones was up last night 32-27 mid-late second then in a blink of an eye Ball went on a 10-0 run to take the lead 37-32 going into half time. The only chance I see Nederland having success is if they can slow the game down with half court sets ("O" and "D"), beat the press and get Evan's into foul trouble early. If it turns into a track meet it plays right into Balls game plan and this game could end up a 10+ victory for Ball. Remember, Humble is no Ball High so if Ned. doesn't bring their "A" game it could make for a long night? I'm not trying to dog on Nederland as this is simply my opinion. Good luck to both teams!
