Somebody needs to tell the refs to do their jobs. They let HF score

Thanks refs!

nope.
that is why i asked if they had their regulars at the game or got somebody who did not have connections to the school.
Nah, hand picked by the coaches!! EC need all the help they can get, with their second rate FB program.

What just happened at the end of the half??? We downed the ball to stop the clock, so the clock doesn’t start again until we snap the ball. The only clock that should have been running was the 25 sec clock, not the game clock with 4 seconds!!!
No idea. On the run, the clock never started.. And there were 10 seconds left. So maybe they figured the run plus spiking the ball was 10 seconds? I thought they should've ran 1 more play, as there likely would've had 1-2 seconds left.

no i am talking about the home town boys who are friends with all the coaches calling the game every year.
You obviously aren't at the game.

"If they hatin you ain't doing something right!"

i wonder if EC has their home town officials calling the game....
You talking about the inadvertent whistle that took the ball away from EC that started the game or the BS face mask against EC that cost them 35 yards?

Mental errors in the secondary killing the EC

Last Year:
Kam goes down at the half for EC
HF gets the score to 19-18 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, then for some reason goes for 2 and bobbles the snap. Score stays 19-18. With 5:40 left in the game Marcus Morris puts the team on his back and takes the Longhorns 85 yards in 9 plays running for 75yds on his own, Saurage 10 yd gain, and completing 10 yd pass to Viator. Morris Scores the go ahead TD with 1:43 left in the game and Morris gets the 2pt conversion. Score 26-19. The Bucs get the kickoff at their own 42yd line and drive to the 27 of HF, go for it on 4th and 10 and throw an interception with seconds left. It was a great game!
Morris is Gone, Saurage is Gone for HF,
Perrault, Caesar, Offensive line are back for EC
EC WINS this game on the back of the Offensive line and Earnest Caesar.
If your bored you can re- listen to the game here: Start it at 2:36:40 for the last two HF drives.
It truly was a great game. I felt so bad for Kam going down so early in the season after getting so close the year before. I just don't see it being a tight ball game this time around, BUT it's a rival game and as the cliche goes.. throw the records, the 'who looks good on paper' and everything else out the window and just enjoy the atmosphere.

H-F went a few rounds deep last year. Lost to Silsbee in the final second of the game to a blocked FG scoop and score. Beat Center by a few scores, beat EC by a few scores. I don’t understand what you are talking about with this upset nonsense. This will be a good game. I highly doubt it gets ugly either way.
Say huh? EC was up by 2 scores before Cam went down for the season. HF won by 7 points. No excuses, good on them to take advantage of the huge momentum shift, but let's get real with what really happened last year.
Barring another big injury, this will be a blowout.

I have to agree. The H-J game was a snoozer. EC is loaded more than ever this year with 8 and 7 returning. The coach said on TV that "we are the only team that can stop us" from winning state. EC will go 10-0 before the playoffs start. No one in the district should beat us. EC will sail through to the 3rd or 4th round.
The speed on the offense is crazy. 3-4 weapons that are capable of taking it to the house every time they touch the ball. And the defense looked ready to stuff the run and has the speed in the secondary to run with any receiving core.

I, and am betting others, would be willing to donate 5, 10, 20+ dollars to help in the short term. I understand it wouldn't be a long term solution, but if things are dire, perhaps there is a Paypal account or another online payment system where funds could be sent?
Or perhaps donations that could be raffled off or football squares in which ~50% of the money goes towards supporting SETXSports. There are a decent amount of active posters, but there are a TON of lurkers / semi-lurkers, such as myself, that are more than willing to help in the short term. I know we all appreciate the information and dedication this site has to bringing a great FREE product for our benefit and enjoyment.
Just my .02!

YAAAWN... Just another blowout from a loaded EC team. Wake me up when the 3rd round of the playoffs get here.
-
Wow! I was on the edge of my seat just reading through the comments. OG Dayton guy here and always respected Silsbee and Jasper. Always long away games and always had our tails kicked (early 90s).
I know how heartbroken those kids will wake up this morning and must feel, but maybe... just maybe a few will read this post and others and let them know the entire south east Texas region was rooting for them and they have ZERO to hang their heads about.
Great season Silsbee!

EC fans dropped this thread like a hot potato.
At what point did you see an influx of "EC fans" in this thread prior to your baseless statement?
Most were either at the game and the rest were listening because they couldn't make the drive.

Grandview up by 3 scores when I turned it off, about 5 minutes ago.
-
If EC can somehow get a +2 TO margin, they have a shot at a close game.
Anything less and the score goes from a tossup, to ugly.
+3 EC by 4
+2 tossup
+1 GV by 4-7
+/- 0 GV by 7 to 10
+1 or more GV by 10+

EC only scored 1 offensive TD. The other 2 were a muffed kick in the end zone recovered by EC and a kickoff return for a TD. Do that math
And the other was a long drive and EC was on the 10-15 yd line, about to score again, when the QB went out. They essentially didn't sniff the end zone the rest of the game, except the very last drive after that drive. So if you are saying the loss of the QB had no effect on the outcome, I would say you either didn't watch the game or delusional.. or perhaps a combination of both.
Either way, great game and proud of how the smaller school still almost came away with the win. -

Well by the looks of the score HF was better than EC last night.
On and off the field
You are a pretty funny 'dude'. I wish HF the best moving forward, sincerely. When HF is not a dumpster fire like it has been the past 2 decades, it makes the rivalry great.

Congrats to HF.
EC thinks they are better than everybody else.
Did you not see the score before and after the Senior QB and leader of the team had to be carried off the field in a stretcher? 3 tds in the 1st qtr and zero in the next 3 qtrs.
I'll let you do the math on that and let us know if you think it had any sort of impact. I'm not taking anything away from either team the way they played in the hot and humid conditions, but your comment was odd, considering that EC played in December last year.

Looks to be broken right above the ankle.

I think it was just a very unfortunate event, this coming from an EC fan. Prayers for the young man.
