  2. Congrats! Two very deserving teams!
  3. Anyone in this area know if Lamar has talked to any of the players around here?
  4. How can HJ be 13? Didn't they make it to the round of 8? ???
  5. Ang Green was the only girl in this area selected. Congrats!
  6. I don't know if any of you read the Orangefield\Navasota thread on the girls side, but there was a black official who called the tech on our girls at the end of the game for a rule that actually doesn't exist, he was black, our team is all white, Navasota all black, does that mean it was a raciest call, who knows, but I can argue that it was. Or what about Black History Month, there is no White history month is that raciest? Black Ms. America, there is not White Ms. America, raciest? And I read that this is SETX that is just how we are, wait, don't GENERALIZE me! In the words and Mr. Dick "you don't know me!" Like I said before, no one is saying it isn't a great accomplishment, it is! It's a HUGE deal, but how do we know it wasn't written about at all? Or maybe the people in Dallas aren't basketball nuts like the people in SETX and maybe aren't to intrested? WHO KNOWS EXCATLY WHY. The Beaumont Enterprise hardly ever writes about the girls sports does that make them sexist?
  7. Should be tough, I think Silsbee is going to be tough to beat, but I predict no one goes undefeated.
  8. I'm hearing...Sam Houston, McNeese, New Orleans and possibly UTA. I believe she will go juco though so she will continue to play all the time and then transfer to a D1 after that. I think that's best for her, but if she does go D1 and it's not Lamar, I hope she goes to a team that plays Lamar so she can put it on them. She has that "it" factor that you can't coach, so Lamar passing on her blows my mind. She would be the 2nd best shooter on that Lamar team right now. If she was 4 inches taller it wouldn't be an issue. Stupid move by Lamar if you ask me!!! Very stupid!
  9. I don't think by us disagreeing with who should have won MVP is stopping them. I know your a coach and have to defend your picks, but Pluto isn't even from Orangefield and thinks it wasn't right, but it's done. I'd like to see Green and Little play together at LAMAR wouldn't that be something!!
  10. She broke every record this year at Orangefield, I think all of them were previously held by Coach Ancelot. ;D
  11. Guys guys, we are all...most...adults here. Let's stick to the thread. I think it has been decided they haven't picked yet. Give it a rest huh? 8)

  14. Really, I didn't know that. Hummm, looks like me and her will be hitting the courts this week!
  15. I know this doesn't matter at all, but I have heard a lot of people say that the reason Ang Green got district MVP is because she didn't have much help and she carried the team on her shoulders. After seeing the distrcit picks, I didn't believe it, NOW Silsbee gets two ALL REGION picks. Can someone explain this? How did the team that won district, went to the 3rd round of the playoffs get one all region pick?
  16. Erin Kelly (OF)I think will win first on the girls side. Bridge City will most likely win the mixed doubles Deavers wins on the Boys side Girls & Guys doubles not real sure. ???
  17. Two years in a row for Kay-K!! Congrats to all the ladies.
  18. If all the Orangefield fans remember Courtney Taylor we played against her I think 2 years in a row in the playoffs, she is starting for UH, and is doing very well.
  19. ORLANDO, Fla. - Courtney Taylor (Crockett, Texas/Crockett HS) had her ninth double-double of the season, including a career-high 21 points, but it was not enough as the University of Houston women's basketball team lost 71-67 to Southern Miss in the Conference USA Championship quarterfinals Friday at UCF Arena. Taylor was 9-for-12 from the field, blocked two shots and grabbed 11 rebounds. Her nine double-doubles led the team this season. Houston (15-16), the No. 4 seed, blew a 17-point halftime lead and was dominated in the paint 40-26. Southern Miss' (19-12) three starting frontcourt players, Kendra Reed, Pauline Love and Stephanie Helgeson combined for 52 of the team's 71 points. Love injured her ankle with a minute left in the first half and was carried off the court, but returned to score 12 points in the second half. "It was a tale of two halves for us like it has been all year," interim head coach Danny Hughes said. "We played a great first half. Things kind of fell apart for us in the second half. Our kids faced a lot of adversity this season. I'm awfully proud of our young kids." Down 39-22 at the break, Southern Miss used a 33-12 run over the first 13 minutes of the second half to lead 55-51 with 7:09 left. During that span, UH was 5-for-14 from the field with seven turnovers. Tye Jackson (Houston, Texas/Westfield HS/Purdue) picked up three-straight fouls in a span of four minutes during the run and was forced to sit with four fouls. Down as many as five, 58-53, with 5:37 to go, Houston knotted things up after Taylor knocked down her first-career three-point shot and Cobilyn Hill (Houston, Texas/Eisenhower HS) drained a pair of free throws. UH moved out to a three-point lead 65-62, with 1:52 remaining but a 6-0 run by Southern Miss gave the Golden Eagles a 68-65 lead with 27 seconds left. Hill sank a layup the next time down the floor to pull UH within one, 68-67, with 18 seconds left. The Cougars were forced to foul and Reed hit a pair from the charity stripe with 15 seconds left, moving the lead back to three at 70-67. UH was not able to convert a three-point attempt on its next possession and Amber Eugene split a pair of free throws to make the final margin four, 71-67. Hill finished with 11 for UH while Jackson had four points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Brittney Scott (Orange, Texas/West Orange Stark HS) came off the bench to score nine in a career-high 24 minutes. Twiggy McIntyre (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa HS/Kansas State) was held scoreless, but added two assists and a rebound. Houston led 39-22 at the half on the strength of 41 percent shooting and knocking down six three pointers. Zane Jakobsone (Riga, Latvia/ Trinity Valley CC) knocked
